  1. Bollocks. The VLs who are foaming at the mouth about SOD on Twitter dot com are frequently using "Motherwell" pejoratively. Even more so when judging him against a player who happens to play for Rangers.
  2. Aye. It's probably fair to say Adam going off against us was a turning point in the game. Not to say we wouldn't still have won like but it definitely threw Dundee off their stride. We scored about 5 minutes later and for the rest of the game for all Dundee's possession Kelly barely had anything more than a couple of routine saves to make.
  3. Adam injured himself taking a throw in and is out for 6 weeks. So that's something.
  4. Interesting to hear we have a more "relaxed" work permit situation than England. Especially given St Johnstone have been waiting for what seems like forever for their Finnish boy. Also, the refit of the dressing room looks magic.
  5. Wickham is, ironically, currently on trial with Preston. https://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/preston-north-end/trialist-connor-wickham-will-turn-out-for-preston-north-end-reserves-next-week-3370828
  6. I mean, I'm sceptical of the idea that we've paid €400k for him given he was heading out of contract at the end of their season and also...'really?!' but it's an interesting point in terms of the change in recruitment strategy and an apparent willingness to go 'above and beyond' for players who were on our shortlist. I think @thisGRAEME mentioned the other day but now that the dust has settled it doesn't feel like we've missed (m)any of our priority targets. I mean, I'm sure we might have but Gotts is the only one who probably stands out in that respect. Alexander was saying at the end of last season that he anticipated bringing in between 7-10 players (presumably pending on who if any re-signed). As it is we've brought in 12 players (with 17 leaving in the summer). If you include Roberts 5 of them had contracts at other clubs (technically 6 I guess as Shields was a pre-contract so was at QoTS when we signed him). Does that make them "better" players? Dunno. Does it mean it was worth using the LC group and games in August as pre-season? Dunno. Would Robinson/Foyle have made these signings? Probably unanswerable question but I'm guessing not? Either way it feels like there have been two very different threads of recruitment...very obvious punts and players who have obviously been brought in for the first team: 6 months - Mich'el Parker 1 year - Justin Amaluzor, Darragh O'Connor 2 years - Kevin van Veen, Juhani Ojala, Sean Goss 3 years - Connor Shields, Kaiyne Woolery, Liam Kelly, Calum Slattery, Sondre Solholm Johansen
  7. Quite enjoying the idea that we've paid €400k for big Sondre lads. The suggestion in this article is that he's Mjøndalen's record sale. I mean, we've clearly paid something going by the quotes attributed to their manager.
  8. Cheers, that's a different episode to the one I was talking about. I generally give any of the Patreons about Rangers a massive swerve because...well, sitting listening to a dedicated half hour of chat about them is very much not for me. As @craigkillie pointed out the one I was asking about had a guy called Adam on and is a different guy to the one having the current meltdown on their Twitter.
  9. He played there once for us. A 1-0 defeat to County. An experiment that lasted precisely 45 minutes because that's how long it took Robinson to realise it was, in fact, a terrible, terrible idea.
  10. Cheers. I don't listen to their podcast (for obvious reasons) and wasn't sure if he was the guy behind the Twitter or a (non-bigot) contributor. I just remembered the guy that was on had some association to that pod.
  11. Is the Hand & Heart/ibroxrocks guy who's having a meltdown the same worstcunt who guested on that episode of The Terrace pod and talked for over an hour about Rangers & Celtic and everyone called him out for being absolutely fucking terrible?
  12. On the subject of Max Johnston and his highly rated-ness. The media team did a VT segment on him for one of the Inside Motherwell packages last season. They don't tend to that for (m)any of the players around his age group.
  13. It's stating the obvious but that mix of a lack of self-awareness and massive ego is quite something. Absolutely nowhere near as bad as that press conference but sitting at FP in his second stint talking about how had sliding doors moments went a different way he could have been managing Liverpool rather than Motherwell is sensational. Like, I know what you mean and what you're getting at but Jesus Christ! don't say it aloud.
  14. Donnelly starts for N.I Anier's on the bench for Estonia I see.
  15. The Hibs thing is probably inferred from the pretty vague quote on the BBC about how if they'd answered the phone he'd have had a tough decision to make. He doesn't explicitly say it was his preferred move though. Saying "if they pick up the phone it's a different story" is a weird thing to say at an announcement for your new club. Heavy Mark McGhee "I was holding out for the Celtic job" when being unveiled as Aberdeen manager vibes .
  16. Aye. It was a 1 year extension that was signed in the summer. https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/july/Celtic-sign-Leigh-Griffiths-on-one-year-extension/
  17. With Maguire the story goes that he was brought into the club/academy as a midfielder but as he progressed he was moved to centre back and now he's back to midfield. I've a feeling his appearance at CB in the 1-5 loss to St Johnstone at Fir Park back in our 2 cup finals season confirmed it for Robinson that Maguire isn't a centre half. It feels like this is a big season for Maguire in terms of what he goes on to be. Very interested to hear how things work out for Johnston with Queens. I know all young loanees tend to have a "highly rated" tag but we legitimately seem to have high hopes for Johnston. He's signed up to 2023 now and has been around the first team since he was 16. With the whole pandemic thing we've not seen a lot of him and I'd imagine with the Reserve league having been binned over the past while he'll have missed a lot of his development football. Right now he's a name we've heard but we've seen little of given his 2 appearances last season were behind closed doors and his first start was in an absolute shitshow of a team. I get the impression that had our LC group performances been a bit more comfortable we'd have seen him in those games.
