  5. In fairness the queue at central just before 6pm was mental. Queued out the station right down to the Arches and that was after you'd stood to actually buy your ticket. If you were in that line there wasn't a chance you were making it for 6:30/45 I took one look and just decided to walk. The traffic heading out of town was pretty bad too. Either way I arrived just at stage time and had a bloody lovely time. Which was nice.
  6. McManus signs a new 2 year deal. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2016/06/01/mcmanus-signs-extended-deal/
  7. This'll be the fourth time I've seen him. Looking forward to it.
  8. McGhee's been pretty positive about Ainsworth tbh. Thistle game aside (where he *was* at fault, albeit alongside a few other players) he's talked him up at every opportunity. Ultimately though it's difficult to see where he fits in the team just now. He's not as versatile as Johnson and hasn't really taken the opportunities McGhee's given him. He's got a year left on his deal (which I'd imagine would be at the higher end of our pay scale) so if a team like Plymouth are interested in chucking us some cash and we get to free up a wage then it seems a decent opportunity for all concerned. It'd certainly be more agreeable to try and move on some of the more fringe players first.
  9. I wondered if we might try and move Ainsworth on this Summer. Would make sense tbh. http://m.plymouthherald.co.uk/Motherwell-winger-rumoured-weighing-Plymouth/story-29331769-detail/story.html
  10. Has Brian Kerr not been helping coaching with some of the academy groups alongside Lasley, McFadden, Hammell, McManus et al.
  11. 12st 1lb apparently http://www.tranmererovers.co.uk/team/player-profile/steven-jennings/4
  12. Possibly misreading as Cadden is clearly an excellent option in midfield however I'd have said we desperately need a good holding/defensive midfielder which on the face of it isn't Cadden's game. I'd also say we could use someone to rotate with Pearson as well.
  13. Considering we went through pre-season last year with the prospect of the bold Dan Twardzik as our first choice I'm kind of fine with Samson signing. He didn't do much wrong in the 2 games he played last season and any time I saw him for the 20s his experience seemed to be a plus point. In the context of the extent of our scaling back on budget this season I'd have thought he'd be as good an option as we could get as far as experience goes. On Mackin, has he signed his deal as well? I only saw McMillan and Maclean mentioned. Realistically I'd have have thought we'd be looking at loaning out Mackin as well. It took him a while to get his first goal for Airdrie and I think he'd probably benefit from getting regular first team games, much in the same way Moore had. I'd imagine that we'd be aiming for +1 to add to Moult, Moore and (hopefully) McDonald.
  14. I'd have said so, though the fact we've released Brett Long would suggest we'd be looking at bringing in another goalkeeper anyway. So that's Samson, Ferguson and Moore all extended as have Jack McMillan and Ross MacLean. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2016/05/26/trio-agree-contract-extensions/
  15. Was there not talk at the time that Leeds were interested in taking him on before he signed up at the new club? If that was the case and a team like that were a viable option then I can't imagine that he'd have been that worse off financially.
  16. I think that's fair. Realistically the positions in midfield we need to address are Lasley (whether he re-signs or not) and Pearson as our midfield has tended to fall apart when they've not been there. You'd like to think that we'd be looking at a couple of players with some experience that would allow us to keep playing Cadden there and also integrate the likes of Campbell, Turnbull and MacLean (assuming he re-signs) without leaving us with a totally inexperienced midfield. Law would probably tick a few boxes but equally I'm not sure the undoubted extra expense for a 28 year old who has spent the last 3 years playing in the lower leagues is necessarily worth it.
  17. ^^^^ Absolutely this. There seems to be a complete re-write of what happened at Fir Park going on to try and bring things in line with the victim narrative Rangers are desperately trying to push. Ultimately you had maybe a couple of hundred folk (at most) on the park giving it GIRFUY to the Rangers fans who were actually left with plenty stewards and the area behind the goal and the South stand separating them. Given MFC had restricted their allocation in the first place and a large number had fucked off before the final whistle there were hardly enough Rangers fans left to cause that much bother. The park was clear within 5 minutes, before the horses even arrived. While folk can argue the rights and wrongs of the incursion itself there were no 'assaults' on Rangers fans or players from fans within the ground and for what it was, it was well managed and really beyond the incursion itself was without incident. The fact they're trying to push the idea that there was some sort of riot is absolute fantasy.
  18. That statement is off the chart in the heads gone stakes. Actual seething mess.
  19. Given that we'll have known that Ripley would be going back to Boro since the start of last season and also been aware that Samson was only here on an end of season deal I'd have liked to have thought that we'd have been looking at goalkeeping options from that point forward. I find the fact that we've released Brett Long quite interesting given that should Samson leave then that will be 3 goalkeepers out the door this Summer. For what it's worth I thought the development & improvement we saw in Ripley reflected well on Jim Hollman.
