Another fabulous decision from our idiot board and CEO. We deserve everything we get for taking Ferguson on at £5,000 a week. Shame that "generous" person couldn't have paid an Imrie or whoever £2,000 a week then plunged the other £3,000 into the playing budget.

Probably the Ferguson hard buy was touted by Gardiner.

Anybody walking by the stadium with a Rangers top on could be offered a job.

I think Forbes religious views should be left out of debate as Humza Yousaf's was.  Being a wee free is part of people's identity in certain parts of the country, it doesn't mean its followers are stridently admonishing anyone or wanting the churches teachings into national policy.

She seems far more measured than that and some of the over aggressive language on here anyway.

That said I wouldn't vote for her as SNP leader.

Lord Mackay of Clashfern, the Lord Chancellor and top law officer in Margaret Thatchers government, an Invernessian and the son of a railway worker was severely admonished by the Free Church for attending the funeral of two Roman Catholic colleagues in London, he was suspended as an elder and asked to repent and vow that he would not attend a Catholic service again.

The Free Church regarded a Roman Catholic Mass as an abomination against god.

He resigned from the Free Church and worshipped in the Associated Presbyterian Church here in Inverness.

He had an illustrious career from humble beginnings but in religion he stood by his principles.

"They are all useless" is a ploy to start a narrative to get rid of the Scottish Parliament altogether and have all decisions made in London.

The tories right when a Scottish Parliament was first suggested were dead against it and have continued attacking Holyrood ever since, I put it down to the tory imperialists who as their colonies went Independent away from westminster ruling saw Scotland as their last colony.

As a wee aside, some time back I used to fly regularly from London to Inverness, at the Heathrow gate passengers behaved as we all do when waiting by either quietly reading or having a quiet chat with the people beside them, however that dramatically changed when the same english people arrived at the Baggage carousel at Inverness airport then it was all very much raised voices with many expressing upper class english as if they wanted the locals to know they were gentry, embarrassing themselves without knowing it.

I don't know how relevant Swinney's stint as leader really is.  It ended 20 years ago, and the SNP were a very different beast in those days - in opposition, much smaller membership, never been in government.

As Deputy when he had to stand in for the FM he was competent in handling FM questions and good at put downs.

That's the only benefit of a Labour government in Holyrood - they'd highlight just how much better off we currently are.

Although a quick glance at Labour run Wales would be a less painful way to do it.

I'm horrified at the thought that a London based party led by a leader who is vehemently against Scottish Independence would be governing Scotland.

Totally disagree with the Labour part but totally agree with the rest. A "Scotland United Party" consisting of SNP, Alba, Greens, SSP and dare I say it, Labour Left should have been put in place by now to win it. Yes, they all might disagree on how an Independent Scotland might look but they are all in agreement that it needs to happen so should be working together for that imho. However, I remember when the socialist parties got together for RISE (Respect Independence Socialist Environment), it should have worked and it should have been a political juggernaut, but it fell at the first hurdle because people with differences just couldn't work together, so I fear this would be the same.

Wouldn't work as glib Soapy would be in their trying to outfox the rest.

  7. The Free Church with an average attendance of 8,000 is steeped in the past and it's core beliefs are well out of kilter within a modern Scotland, especially with the young, but there is no denying that Kate Forbes is a forceful capable intelligent woman, however her adherence to the Free Church social disciplines would not see her in any way popular with the majority.

But with John Swinney popular with the membership he will be FM but I bet that Kate Forbes will figure in his cabinet.

And there is a tough mean streak in Swinney that the membership is well aware of.

The Ajax project, another Army black hole of £5.5B was supposed to be ready 2017, won't be ready till 2028/29 at earliest,

British army’s new Ajax fighting vehicle will not be ready until end of decade | British army | The Guardian

A troubled £5.5bn programme that is already six years late in building the British army’s new Ajax fighting vehicle will not be delivered until the end of the decade.

Labour accused the government of failing British taxpayers and troops after the Ministry of Defence confirmed that payments towards vehicles would resume after ministers concluded the programme was “turning a corner”.

Originally intended to enter service in 2017, the programme has been repeatedly delayed, with problems including noise and vibration issues that have injured soldiers testing the vehicles.

After halting payments to General Dynamics Land Systems UK (GDLS-UK) more than two years ago, the MoD said on Monday it would hand over £480m this month to the arms company. It said full operating capability was expected between October 2028 and September 2029, when the army has trained and converted forces to the vehicle.

    Always money for the army.

The westminster government funds the UK military to the tune of £50 Billion annually, then the UK military does what the Pentagon tells them to do, the recent RAF strike against Iranian drones is testament to that, as is strikes against Daesh in Syria and strikes against The Houthi in Yemen, even the £35 Billion Trident missile system is leased from the US where the UK are not allowed to even service the missile guidance systems but have to be sent back to the USA for servicing.

So where does that leave us? simply as being viewed by the rest of the world as the USA's puppet leaving us wide open to retaliatory terrorist attacks.

  9. There's no doubt that Forbes has the intelligence and quick fire ability to hold her own against the likes of Dross, however her beliefs are firmly in a time past which will always be brought up and into political discussion. And I know that if she was elected there would be resignations close to the core.

Middle of the road, and hugely popular within the party, John Swinney will probably become FM, he has noticeably taken time out in the last year, the reason should now be obvious.

I note that Angus Robertson has been mentioned earlier, he may stand but as far as I know he is quite happy in his present role between Parliament and the Scottish office in Brussels.

Surely Arbroath fans aren't stupid enough to fall for that?

If Arbroath beat Queen's Park certainly not one of them would on the match thread or on this one ever tell Big Dunc to GIRFUY.

    Surely not.

Beaten by 5 goals at home by a team that had only 1 point out of their previous four games seems to give some substance to Fergusons remarks on Arbroath 'players downing tools on their club and manager' after relegation confirmed.

Doubt we'll see a Statement from the Arbroath Board.

Lost their unearned nepotistic gainz and had to work their way up a meritocracy - does the evil English empire have no limits 😞

Best you take time to carefully examine how an English aristocratic cuckold fool decided on Indian Independence  and Partitioned Pakistan and later Bangladesh because he acted on the advice of his wife who was fuckin Indian PM Nehru and totally ignored Muslim Jinnah who represented the millions of Muslims who were subsequently slaughtered.

Presently both India and Pakistan are at Nuclear weaponry stand off.

Then Malaysa where the locals were described as communist terrorists which suited the Westminster politica and which meant the Americans, unlike Suez, gave the go ahead. And European military such as Dutch commandoes who were acting on the side of the Independence.

Evil Colonialism? Which nation initiated  slavery in Ghana ?

The English political established is mired in murder, bloodshed and corrupt colonialism, its in their blood soaked history.

So with all these past colonial countries now Inependent they have turned their disinformation unit on Scotland.⁷

Clearly, under the act of union Scotland had no political or colonial establishment which drove or maintained colonial rule in the likes of India or Malaya, any governmental rulings or policies were originated in Westminster or by Westminster appointed Viceroys in the case of India.

Yes Scots played a part in colonialism but you will find that many were disenchanted sons of clan chiefs who had lost land after Culloden or were minor civil servants in backwaters.

Other than in Banking very few Scots were ever trusted or considered for high colonial office due mainly after Culloden or their sense of equality.

Consider also where nearly all Scottish Regiments were officered by englishmen
