  1. How's the Dunfermline squad shaping up for next season?

Pretty much what was here at the end of the season, only a few guys realised that were only on the fringes despite being stripped to the bare bones. No new signings, and the guys that were out of contract have been given rolling monthly contracts( all the administrator will grant)

We're completely getting rid of u20s set up, so we won't have then to supplement the squad.

  2. Does me going to the Scottish Youth Cup Final mean that I know all the intricate details of the Celtic and Dunfermline players' contracts ? Wonderful.

Only youth players. To get the senior players details you need to ask in the club shop.

  3. What you should maybe watch out for is that supermarkets buy largish plots of land, and sometimes just sit on them, undeveloped, for years.

Sometimes they develop them when planning regs change, occasionally they buy the plot of land purely to stop a rival buying it and using it.

Has land banking not been massively decreasing ?, regardless you would hope, even if we were to lose out to someone land banking that a yearly lease could be sorted, don't see much reason why somebody would reject rent money for a site they had no current plans for. That would at least buy us time to get something else sorted.
  4. Residents of Halbeath Road will kick up a stink as they did before, the flats are actually on Leys Park Road and all that is beside them is unused land, a garage and a car park and is away from the more populated park of Leys Park Road.

Yeah, their would be a lot of opposition from pars fans and halbeath road residents which will put a lot of developers off, also their cost of demolishing the stands etc.

Even if their is a possibility of it being turned into houses,(flats have no chance barring possibly the rest of the car park, into where the north stand is) you'd expect most developers to be put off because of the hassle of it, especially in the current market.

Supermarkets etc have virtually no chance with the current saga of the tesco at the old fire station being forever delayed.

  5. Also says he has had two credible individuals approach him - one about buying the club and the other about buying ground

    http://www.dafc.co.uk/articles/20130526/administrators-sunday-thoughts_2207955_3191797

I was confused about this, why would someone approach him about the ground? Unless he means someone approached wanting to take the pitreavie lease?

He says the other guy is a fan so hopefully they can be convinced to join up with pars united. And isn't somebody with close links with GM.

  6. I heard Masterfud wants to take control again and it will be mentioned tomorrow night at the meeting. Who actually owns what at the moment?

The wonderful web of companies that masterton created doesn't make things fully clear. But the simplistic way is, gm owns the ground, fife council own pitreave, which is leased by DAFC, subleased to pars trust(not the supporters trust) that masterton still has a degree of control over. But apparently Jackson is looking to sell the main lease in order to raise funds. The club main shareholding is held by masterton but he has handed that over to jackson for him to sell.

No surprises if gm wants to regain control post admin, he has a lot to gain if he does. But his actual ability to do so is questionable, he appears to have run out of places to borrow cash from. We need to stay vigilant to prevent it happening.

Grant Munro hasn't been offered a new contract and has left the Club. Announced it on his Twitter. Bit of a weird one; can only imagine JJ has a better, and possibly cheaper, option in mind?!

It wouldn't surprise me if JJ is not allowed to offer contracts, so maybe his hand was forced. If not it maybe jeffries feels, young, potter and Morris is enough and he'd rather spend his limited cash elsewhere. Doubt he has a replacement lined up as things stand. But he could consider him not good enough regardless.

Best of luck to him anyway.

  7. Do you think your U20 are capable of overcoming a -10 point deficit should your team remain in admin for the start of the new season?

Depends what you mean by overcome.

to give rangers a fright ? No chance

To make the play-offs? Probably not

To stay in the 2nd? Probably i don't know, depends on injurys/who stays/ if we sign anyone on loan.

It will be a challange regardless, and that's if we get that far. Like poet says, we just have to hope the young guys can step up to it.

  8. Our season ticket prices are about what I'd expect them to be. They seem to be about what the other clubs are charging, maybe slightly higher but you'd expect that from the relegated club. Possibly a slight cashing in on the emotion around the club.

That doesn't stop the season tickets don't offer enough value debates, or the arguments that football is too expensive overall anyway arguments. But they've been going on for for years anyway, this year is no different.

On another point, can we pretend that we are like everyone else and that everything is fine and talk about building a team for next season? I've got a few random thoughts.

On over 21s, hopefully we can keep those that are still here. On new signings has the trialist loophole been closed? What about signing amateur players are they allowed? possibly somebody wanting to put themselves in the shop window/ willing to do us a favour (yes I know that sounds stupid) someone like Gary mason would be useful(I've plucked his name from thin air btw) , maybe McCann would be willing to sign on as emergency cover. What about the released players that haven't since found clubs? Could they technically be considered as re-signing , given that we are the last club they registered for? What is the status of willis and Boyle? Can they be re-signed?.

On under 21s, if possible I'd like to sign a couple of wingers and maybe a centre back. Any ideas if their are players available ?particularly if we can get them on loan and pay very little of their wages, I'm thinking maybe Paul George at Celtic, seemed useful against us in the youth cup final.

Now back to reality and the far more important things that surround the club.

  9. I would imagine that the guys from the under 20 side will be on less than the Alloa players but would think that Falky, Hubby and Wallace would be on more.

Pretty much what I was getting at, we won't be paying much overall much more if any than the more expensive part time squads. And I expect to have significantly higher crowds. I think some people are naive as to how little a fairly large chunk of full time players get.

  10. Or you know, sensible enough that they realise there's no need to go part time. But I suppose that doesn't suit your agenda.

Yeah, it'll be sustainable to run a full time team in the second division. That's the sort of attitude thats landed you in the shit.

It will be sustainable, especially with a young team. How much do you think their on? I reckon most of our team will be earning less than the alloa players today. Certainly with the younger guys anyway.

  11. To those advocating blanket legalisation / decriminalisation of all drugs, what about the drug Krokodil - popular in Russia?

I'd post images of the aftermath, but not one of them is remotely SFW. It makes crystal meth look like Parma Violets.

Similarly with crystal meth, it's a drug forced on consumers, by the war on drugs. It is used as a cheap substitute for heroin.

  12. There is little doubt, in my mind that the worst effects of drugs on society are caused by dealers, legalisation would destroy them.

On crystal meth, I maybe wrong but was under the illusion that it's usage rocketing was caused by the war on drugs, in America , with the importation issues of cocaine and heroin, it became easier to start making drugs in the community's where they are to be sold.

  13. There is no doubt, and absolutely no legitimate argument, against any existing drug being illegal. Certainly not one as benign as marijuana. It's a failure of our political system that's its not legal, and a failure of society, really.

Our prime minister admits to consuming it, yet passes laws putting those who possess cannabis in prison for up to 5 years...

Don't you know, what he smoked was the harmless type, now everyone smokes a highly dangerous strain, touch it and you get instant psychophrenia.
  14. I think fayssal is out of contract as well

Possibly, it doesn't say on COWS and I have a suspicion JJ said when he signed that it was 2 years but you may be right, I'm not sure. He never gets a game anyway! :S

Can't find anything to confirm one way or the other but i had the suspicion it was one year, we'll see. As you say tho he never plays so we may find ourselves starting next year not knowing if he's at the club or not.

ETA sfl site has it as 1 year, but they also have him as a left back. http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/news/article/pars-sign-full-back/

  15. Genuine question - how many over-21's are still on the books at EEP?

    Potter (34)

    Dargo (35)

    Geggan (26)

    Hvrinak (21 atm)

    Morris (23)

    Fayssal (21 atm)

    Falkingham (23)

    Wallace (23)

    Thomson (22)

    Husband (23)

Potter, Dargo, Hvrinak and Thomson all out of contract at the end of May. Thankfully we can re-sign over 21's if they are our current players, but I don't know if contracts could be offered with the threat of liquidation still a large possibility etc.

I think fayssal is out of contract as well

  16. Fine and transfer ban were imposed for being in administration. It happened while the season was still running.

They went to court to overturn the transfer ban.

EDIT: April 2012... club was fined £160,000 of which £50k was purely for going into administration + given 12-month ban on signing over-18s.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17821054

Most of that punishment is for bringing the game into disrepute, we weren't charged with that, the punishment for going into administration was £50000. If we were punished in proportion you'd guess at a 4 or 5000 pound fine. Regardless I think the transfer ban is fair. Transfer embargo's are IMO a significantly underused punishment.

  17. Most clubs have received grants from the likes of sportscotland to install the pitch, qots I think are quoted at paying out about 60k from there own funds, with the total cost being about 500k, though that probably means that some of the income you'd receive if you payed out fully will be taken up. I think 60k is probably covered just by not postponing games.
