  1. Individual teams are posting their fixtures up on Twitter. I’m just searching South Challenge Cup to see what comes up. Full draw will be up soon!
  2. Upper Annandale v Newton Stewart in R2 gets at least one South team through.
  3. Haddington v CSS is the pick of the ties I’ve seen so far in the East section. Winner away to Leith in R2. Penicuik v Dalkeith in R2 will give the locals a chance to moan about Midlothian Council favouring Dalkeith for gritters, transport and generally moan about being overlooked by the council. They don’t take long to get going about this stuff.
  4. Newburgh v Albion Rovers in R1. Winner at home to West Park Utd in R2. Rovers landing at this level with a bump!
  5. No doubt a few hundred posters on here were also at this game, it being the only show in town. Season 2023/24 commences in an unusual pairing at Dunfermline. St Pauli of Hamburg/Glasgow strolled (literally for most of the time) to a 3-0 win at East End Park. Highlight of the evening was the ridiculous bicycle kick that made a satisfying thwack off the bar near FT.
  6. Very serendipitous. Second day in succession I’ve ran into a Rose Reilly image. This time at the most Scottish football themed street there can be. At No.50 we have the Queen of the South; and at No.58 the Rose Reilly.
  7. Sound the “Borders derby” claxon. Grounds I can get to from West Linton more quickly than I can get to Hawick: Cumnock Jeanfield Swifts / Luncarty Queen of the South Port Glasgow East Fife (It’s not a derby. Stop this madness, please.)
  8. Rose Reilly portrait has been added to the collection at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
  9. Arab Strap. Intertoto cup tie at Gateshead.
  10. Pollok A: 1st July Falkirk H: 4th July Edinburgh football team with regularly changing name H: 8th July Not a bad set of friendlies.
  11. Occasionally buy football books online from Stanchion Books and they pop in old football cards as your bookmark. A familiar face came with my latest purchase…
  12. Bag of cans with your pals on the balcony at Pollok.
  13. The grandstand built by the corner flag at Turriff United.
  14. Will be a novel experience me getting home from a game of football before 5pm! Wish them well. Not sure how often I’ll go as I’m a sucker for the up at dawn / road trip / massive walk / spot of lunch / fitba experience generally, as opposed to the potter about the house / walk five mins down the road type of game, but I’ll certainly pop along occasionally. Midweek games would be ideal for me!
  15. Just wanted to flag this interview with Willie Haughey on GMS this morning. Start from 2:48 if you want to hear him wittering on about University of Life and his son’s 42 break on a snooker table. Jump to 2:54 if you want to hear more about his thoughts on his team’s new manager. Spoiler: it is not the QP manager job he is opining on. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001mlqw
  16. 4-0 Bo’ness. Dunipace missed a penalty at 0-0 which didn’t make much of a difference really. Bring back winter fitba. I’m puggled.
  17. Prize and TV money for last season: £106,800. https://twitter.com/spflwatch/status/1665129997625880576?s=46&t=CZFg535gf7R8wkEonyL6Xg
  18. There’s a portakabin newly installed at Linton Hotspur. If it survives the gala day* next week, I’ll believe it’s here for the season. Lots of fences going up. It looks a bit like Glastonbury over there. Nobody is getting in there without paying their admission fee. Other than the aforementioned geese, try prising a fiver off them, cup tie shared gate or nothing , they’re not paying you even if you’re Talbot and you’ve brought a wee clicker. * Gala day, or the “Whipman Play” as they insist on calling it in these parts. I’ll never yield. It’s a gala day. Even though it goes on for about eight days. The bloody horses will be knackered by the end of it.
  19. 5-3 Star. Joint most goals I’ve seen in any game this season after… 5-3 Star when Stoneyburn came here in November.
