  1. Aye, Nick Clegg is a duplicitous arsehole. He didn't have principles but he sold out the party's principles for a tiny bit of power. Now he's the acceptable face of Facebook or the guy they trot out in front of Government committees.
  2. Yeah, it is interesting. There are definitely yes voters who vote Labour. I'm not sure of the scale though (it could be as much as 30%). That being said, I couldn't see a SNP voter switching to Labour with their position of no referendum ever. I think their position would need to be more nuanced. Which is why I expect disaffected SNP voters will just stay home. The only caveat I'll make to that is if Scottish voters do what they did for a spell in the late 2000s. Vote Labour at WM & SNP at Holyrood. I think that particular calculus died in 2015 though. As you say, it's certainly not dull.
  3. I don't so much take issue with the council tax freeze policy. You can make a cogent argument that now is not the time to increase it given the current climate and environment. Admittedly, to do that you should be giving Council's more money from central government. I don't even take issue with the fact that Council Tax should have been scrapped and replaced by a local income tax long before now. What I take issue with is that Humza just plucked this out of the sky a couple of hours before his speech. That's the very antithesis of competent governance. Which should be his main priority. I don't think he'll be leader after the WM election a reckoning is coming. The movement is going through some growing pains, irrespective of where you sit on that spectrum (right or left) there is a disenchantment with what's being offered at the moment. Turnout is what will hurt the SNP. I expect support for independence may well plateau for a time but support for the SNP is going to plummet (by their recent standards). The SNP will likely still win the most seats via FPTP for WM, unless there is a cataclysmic collapse.
  4. To show how far removed I am from this I genuinely thought cheesebro was an allias for some sort of cheddar baron. Like pharmabro was for that cretin who raised the price of aids medication.
  5. Greenie for the movie reference. I love that film. I don't agree with the content though if you had a bird's-eye view (from above) it would be a diamond, no?
  6. Smallish but not particularly box shaped. I thought it may have been one of those cars shaped like a box on wheels. Not that I'm suggesting you'd drive one of those. It was that or a smart car for my guesses when reading your post
  7. What sort of car have you got? You did the right thing, better to steady yourself and go again.
  8. Haven't read back the thread but I'm sure I remember Gordon Ramsey mispronouncing Brechin.
  9. Aye but let's condemn all the Israelis - they are all complicit in the subjugation of the Palestinians. There are numerous people on this thread who actually believe that.
  10. Ehhh, about half of all Israelis didn't vote for Netanyahu or his allies. Not sure what you expect them to do tbh.
  11. There's a lot to criticise Humza for (like his new indy strategy ) but his take on events in Israel and Palestine has been more nuanced than any other leader save Varadkar.
  12. There must be two then as the one I'm referring to referenced the Nazis.
  13. Pretty sure someone was banned for antisemitism on this thread or the other thread. Edit - I should add the post concerned was red dotted by most.
  14. Yeah, I suspect that's unlikely. Iran and Israel are effectively at war anyway via proxies. Israel is about the only country in the world which can attack Iran with impunity. The reason? The Ayatollah wants Israel erased from the face of the earth anyway. There isn't really anywhere else to escalate to.
  15. Yeah, a UN resolution proposed by Russia was never going through. That should be a surprise to absolutely no-one. The hypocrisy is strong with that one given their exploits in Ukraine. The UN Security Council is a dysfunctional mess.
  16. No, I've no money left after a visit from the wallet inspector.
  17. I'm not sure Israel can be put on a leash tbh. Netanyahu and his cronies only have one move available to them. Which is to plough on regardless. After the colossal intelligence failure anything else will be seen as weakness for the strongman. It's compunded by the fact that Israel doesn't recognise the ICC either, much the same as Russia in that regard.
