  1. I'm hoping that's a sign that he's getting emptied. Don't ruin my dreams.
  2. I've given the club a fair bit of stick but assuming the tone of the statement is the same as the email reply I think they've handled this as expeditiously as they could have and not tried to justify it.
  3. Aye, the sniffer dog is a ridiculous escalation. It was also clearly targeted at our younger fans (again!). Why the club repeatedly shoots itself in the foot with these supporters, I'll never know. They aren't criminals, they are trying to generate a much needed atmosphere at Somerset. Which is particularly challenging with the current dross being served up. It's an utterly clueless decision and whatever strawman the club is currently constructing needs treated with the contempt it is due.
  4. Let's hope we catapult Bullen into the sea before ICT get the inevitable new manager bounce.
  5. I voted for the only guid honest laddie on there. As I do with every new manager poll. It's got to be John Hughes.
  6. This may be of interest to some of you... The Glasgow Chess Congress is returning after a 10 year hiatus. It is a weekend tournament played over the board, it's 5 rounds (1 game Friday & 2 games on Saturday & Sunday). Time control is 90 minutes + 30 second increment per move. https://congress.org.uk/congress/324/home If you are interested in playing over the board let me know where you are and I can point you in the direction of chess clubs nearby.
  7. You have to take a stand against fascists and there is a minority of their support who are in that category. Their own support don't hound them so it's down to us.
  8. Aye, I don't think Mathie has implemented this at all. I think it is infinitely more likely it was Provan who came up with it, whether Mathie was aware of it or not is the question. I'd be shocked if Mathie weren't aware given the impact. I just hope Mathie does as No Problemo suggested and gets in front of it, apologises and assures us it wont happen again. If he doesn't do that, it just adds to the negativity around the place and the disconnect between club and fans. Which no-one wants.
  9. Ultimately yes, as Dave Smith owns the club and chairs the board. Mathie answers to the board. However, Mathie is responsible for the entire operation day to day. There will be a structure and a hierarchy of managers who then report into Mathie directly but he's ultimately in charge of everything.
  10. The Managing Director is in charge of everything. That's how it works, football isn't an exception to that. If he was only in charge of football operations his title would reflect that. McTrusty, Provan et al report to Mathie. He is in charge of all the staff and all the operations without exception. The buck stops with him.
  11. FWIW Mathie is actually in a new role for him. He's never run an entire club before. His roles at Hibs were not as big as his role at Ayr in terms of span of control. That being said. He's not doing great either. This debacle with the stewarding is part of a pattern. He strikes me as someone who has lots of great ideas but never gets them over the line as he's trying to do too much at the same time. If he does complete something it's decidedly mixed like the season ticket instalments. I wouldn't be sacking him but I have doubts over what he is bringing at the moment.
  12. Speaking of our SLO. Jamie did come back to me on my complaint about the stewarding and sniffer dog. He completely agrees and will let me know what the club has to say.
  13. Speaking of pyro. Maybe the sniffer dog was trained to sniff out baguettes? www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/scots-football-fans-smuggling-flares-29402887.amp
  14. Aye, pointing at the police seems like a strawman to me. Also wrt. Graeme Mathie, I'd be astounded if he didn't know there was going to be stewards and a sniffer dog patrolling the SRE. Frankly, If he didn't know then whoever took that decision should be getting their jotters. It's a significant change in a policy impacting the club's customers. No way should that decision be made in isolation. Its also the first time I've ever encountered it. Which makes me even more sceptical that it has anything to do with the police.
  15. I think post the Airdrie game is when he may get jettisoned. That 2 week gap before the Dunfermline game would give time to get someone in. There's no way it happens sooner after Mathie's full throated support.
