January can be a bit of a crap time of year to be doing permanent deals in fairness. Can easily end up signing a dud on an 18 month deal and being stuck with him for the following season. Ryan Blair and Bruce Anderson both had a decent impact when they came in on deadline day last year. It is a bit difficult to get excited over signing players nobody has ever heard of, right enough.
