  1. Elgin are my dark horse for the play offs- have more than a decent shout
  2. Fair play to Elgin that is what you call winning ugly
  3. I missed the game but naturally delighted with the result. Brechin in a similar or possibly worse position than us this time last year so City fans have our empathy. When my notifications cane up with goals either side of half time I thought the game was up. I really hope we can start looking up the table now. Massive game next week at Stenny. What are City fans thoughts ? Are they resigned to bottom spot and ultimate relegation. The stars aligned for Rovers last year but Berwick being so utterly shite ultimately was a main factor in us staying up. Rovers are better than last year , we only signed one player in January but the plus point is we are playing a fairly settled team who work their bollocks off.
  4. Going by the highlights some decent stuff there from Elgin. Cove are becoming the Fuzzywuzzies of Scottish football . They don’t like it up ‘em. Complaining last week about the Cliftonhill playing surface- there’s f*ck all wrong with pitch.
  5. Eerily Brechin are in the same position as Rovers were in last year. We played Berwick about the same time last year and of course it was labelled a must win game (aren’t most games) it ended 1-1 and Rovers supporters resigned to relegation.
  6. And there’s the rub. They extended their lead to 6 points at the top which is a perfectly acceptable position at the start of Feb in anyone’s books. Quite an entertaining game it has to be said.
  7. They were standing on the terracing in front of the directors area. Were wearing club ties and jackets. I’m not sure if they were directors or hangers on. I would have assumed if they were directors they would have been sitting in the posh seats
  8. Yes there were a few, some if them were a bit disparaging about the set up at Cliftonhill
  9. Excellent performance by Rovers to rescue a point. Absolutely pummelled them in the second half. Cove looked as if they thought all they had to do was just turn up. What is that pointless warm up routine they do when they run out the tunnel at kick off and half time- do they think they are Cove Madrid
  10. Agree wholeheartedly. Summed up our season as we lack the killer instinct. I would have taken a draw also but disappointed we didn’t sneak it- a draw was probably fair in the end. We played better the last 5 minutes without Lynas - I really don’t rate the guy. As for the two pens I thought the QP one was dubious - the collision looked to be shoulder to shoulder. For me Byrne has got to blast that down the middle , in the end it was poorly taken although maybe Im being a bit harsh. First half was a decent performance since we had a two week layoff and first game since the Stirling debacle. Scally was excellent again, McAllister had a good debut , save of the season from Goody.
  11. I thought tucked in shirts was a disciplinary issue at Hampden! On a serious note I think it’s a pretty good tradition to have and the hooped shirt looks a so much better that way.
  12. Unfortunately Smart wasn’t able to replicate the form that saved is from certain relegation last season. In fairness none of the team have really produced the goods this season . Unfair that Smart has taken most of the criticism from a section of the fans.
  13. Sorry to disappoint you Bro but Rovers have signed on loan ex-QP Nicholas McAllister. Ex-players coming back to haunt etc etc. On a serious note QP are fairly splashing the old cash now.
  14. I’m a bit late to this . The last decade has been the best time to be supporting Rovers Highs - Crazy gang winning play off promotion at Annan 2010-11. What a team not a bad manager either - Beating Airdrie 7-2 -Winning L1play off 2012 beat Stranraer to escape relegation . Crazy gang do it again -Beating Motherwell in the cup. Didn’t see that one coming. Very few Rovers fans talk about this as it was overshadowed by the Rangers games -Winning L2 Title in 2015. -Staying up for two seasons- although our over spending caught up with us -Escaping relegation last. Something you shouldn’t overindulge in. The club looked dead and buried. Kevin Harper deserves a lot of credit for saving the club - Celebrating two testimonials for two Rovers stalwarts- Ciaran Donnelly and Alan Reid. Great servants to the club -Beating QoS in the last minute to earn a cup tie against Celtic Lows -Relegation in 2013 and 2018. -Robbed at Ibrox in the cup. John Beaton aaaaarrrrrrrgggghhhhhhh -Losing in the cup to Sunnybank and Fortmartine -Club captain Ciaran Donnelly being shown the door in 2015. He should have lifted the trophy that year. A very poorly handled situation by the club -The appointment of John Brogan. I still can’t get over that someone in the Rovers Boardroom thought that was a good move- a bonkers, totally bonkers appointment. Truly the worst Rovers team I have ever witnessed
  15. 3 and half year contract for a 32 year old! Hats off to his agent.
  16. Good job I don’t do the predictions . Far from a close game - Stirling won’t get an easier 3 points the whole season-facto.
  17. Think your right Chris it’ll be another tight game. Stirling will fancy their chances , gubbed us 3-0 at Forthbank and probably felt they should have taken something from the earlier game at Cliftonhill when playing with nine men. Might even be just the one goal in the game.
  18. 2011 Play off win against Annan what a team that was. 2nd game at Galabank was not good for the blood pressure. Rovers 4-1 up on aggregate at half time -Annan scored to quick goals in the second half . That last 25 minutes is the longest i have ever experienced. This usurped the 2015 2nd Div Title win which by and large was bought.
  19. Are City fans expecting wholesale changes in January? This game will be a lot tighter than most think given the form. Massive game for both sides.
  20. He’s been better than ok tbh. Last few games has been our best player. There’s a good bit yet to cone from this lad
  21. It was far from easy Chris. We basically had to fight our way through that game. 1st half we battered QP withthe only complaint is it should have been 3 or 4 if it wasn’t for some brilliant goalkeeping. 2nd Half Queens had to come out fighting and finally we saw a Rovers team which could dig out a performance to protect our lead. It certainly answered the critics including myself and was a performance that was more akin to our form towards the end of last season. Tuesday nights game is crucial now.
  22. Fair play to Airdrie no real complaints about the result maybe a bit harsh on Rovers , if a fifth had gone in it would have been a real boot in the baws. From a Rovers point of view the turning point was the gilt edged chance at 2-1 Roberts cut back Byrne should have taken the goalnet from the riggings with that one. Would have made the game really interesting. That being said our defending is nowhere near good enough against teams in our division never mind against a team top of L1. We need serious change in that department. Thought Airdrie were solid team absolutely grease lightning on the break . Referee was ok not brilliant but let the game flow and only issued 2 yellow cards. Rovers had a great shout for a penalty again at 2-1. Ref should have checked Rovers version of VAR ..VCR. Good luck in the next round guys. Two absolutely massive league games for Airdrie are more important. Back to the drawing board for Rovers.
  23. Not many Rovers fans looking forward to this one as they fear a humpin’. It’s a good draw for Rovers (and Airdrie), hopefully it will be a full house. Airdrie are flying and after an iffy start have found a way to get points although according to my Airdrie supporting brother in law some of it hasn’t been pretty which is by the by. For football fans there is no better feeling than your team out of the blue finding form- the free flowing football can follow. If I could sum up Rovers this season - we definitely have a better quality of player it’s the character to dig out wins from games where we are lacking and as Chapelhall Chap alludes to - Rovers leak goals. Much is made of the San Siro playing surface which I don’t think will make much difference. The biggest positive for Rovers is it’s the cup and sometimes there is no rhyme nor reason. A replay would be a good result for us, if it goes to form I’ll go 3-1 Airdrie.
  24. Airdrie fans would have probably preferred Fort William away for it’s 5 star piss up qualities. Still a good draw for them.
