I understand people's frustrations, and I really pity those who are missing out unfairly. But know this: ballot chat is worse than the actual fucking pandemic right now.

There was an interesting remark from Douglas McNeil in the aftermath of him kyboshing the Scott rumour, in which he said that any signing would have to fit the system. This kinda fits with what a few of us were saying about the Middleton rumour: it didn't make a whole heap of sense because he wouldn't necessarily fit in with our system. I know McNeil isn't picking the team but he is typically on the money with Saints news.

Yeah, that stats aren't that improbable - roughly three consecutive 1/2 chances - but I think it's reasonable to say it should have been weighted for people who've missed out.

We've got four massive bags of sand that we use in training to replicate Dundee United's defence. They weigh a fucking tonne.

What's impressed me has been the way she has continued her crusade for reconstruction to this day, believing, as she does, that it's for the best for Scottish football at all levels of the game. Lots of people reckoned she was only saying that stuff because it'd bail Hearts out, but she's certainly proved them - and me - wrong.

To be fair, I was complaining about the lack of bullshit transfer rumours a couple weeks ago, so at least things have improved in that regard.

Fair point about Famewo. See he's just been farmed out to L1 again. I sense his future probably lies away from Norwich at this stage (he's 22 now).

Genuinely not doing this to rub salt in Hearts' 2020 wounds, but thought it'd be interesting to see the line-ups for that evening in March 2020, which only seems like yesterday to me. We've had some amount of squad churn since then. Nine of our starting XI that night are no longer with us; the remaining two aren't quite starters (though that's certainly not a reflection of McCarthy's quality). Only two of our outfield subs are still with us, plus Lyness. In summary, of a squad of 18, only Jamie McGrath is actually a nailed-on starter today. Also, Tony Andreu came off the bench that night which is amazing to me. I felt like he was with us much longer ago than that. Overall, I would say we are literally stronger in every every area of the park now. I'd say only Durmus would be troubling our current team. I'm sure the Jambos will have some fairly colourful thoughts about their squad that night... fucking hell, it's shite.

Plus a sell-on and that'd be a completely acceptable deal.

Goodwin is close to the management team there. Now this could mean the rumour has legs, or it could mean the press have seen this interview from 18 months ago and just chucked our name on it.

If only every journalist showed such foresight.
