  1. I'm sure the idea at the very least had his blessing; at no point did I say he was "actively involved", but you knew that already of course. Do feel free to go ahead and explain that debt yourself since you seem to be so well-informed!
  2. During the roughly 2-year spell throughout which we racked up £170k of debt, our recruitment in general wasn't really particularly proactive in the way that Ferguson's was. The fact that the club (and presumably Danny too) felt it necessary to appoint a recruitment team kind of points to the conclusion that he ain't so hot when it comes to identifying players or getting them in the door. That and his past signing record, of course. Money is obviously a factor, but I don't think it is the only one. We've heard nothing about our recruitment team in yonks, so hopefully that's because they've been scouring the leagues for plenty of new and exciting additions!
  3. Based on his two full seasons at Clyde - particularly his performances after adapting to League One - I don't think there's a single team in the bottom two tiers that he wouldn't improve. An underwhelming season in a comfortably relegated Alloa team in the Championship isn't going to dissuade most from holding that view.
  4. If only we could marry the transfer activity of Barry Ferguson to the coaching of Danny Lennon. Strong, proactive recruitment doesn't really seem to be our thing these days, sadly.
  5. Grant could have his pick of any club in the bottom two divisions, so I doubt he's rocked up at Stirling for much reason beyond the wage. Very smart signing though and probably worth whatever small fortune he's been offered.
  6. Should've been right at the top of our shopping list. Stirling do appear to be flinging a fair bit of money about these days though.
  7. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how Kevin Rutkiewicz contrives to fall short of promotion next season. Where is Stirling's money coming from?
  8. If Stenhousemuir truly have designs on possessing the finest right-back in the fourth tier, may I put forward the name of Scott Rumsby to Mr. Swift? A very experienced defender who has played in that role previously. Get in quickly Stephen, because Clyde have tabled him an offer for next term! In all seriousness, I think you'll get the most out of Lyon at right-back at that level, as long as he is afforded the opportunity to progress up the park and has sufficient cover from his centre-back/holding midfielder.
  9. Ross Lyon was a bit of a nothing player across his two seasons at Clyde; he saw virtually no action in our promotion campaign of 2018/19, having been a squad-filling signing in September, and looked like a bit of a ringer whenever he did get a runout. When we bounced up to League One, we had serious issues in both full-back positions and, despite being a contentious retention from the previous season, he was deployed there with some success for a few games and his recovery pace stopped teams from waltzing around us. As has been said, though, that success waned after a short while and no tears were shed upon his release at the end of last season. I'm not sure how he was used during his time in the Lowland League but I seem to recall seeing him score a number of goals, so I assumed he was utilised as a right winger, the role he was initially signed to fill for Clyde (after the comical and short-lived tenure of Eddie Ferns at Broadwood). He is fairly quick but of very slight build and didn't have a real standout attribute; just an okay player all-round. He is an honest player and a trier, however, so hopefully "Lyonheart" can do Stenhousemuir a turn.
  10. Every decision is a tough one, because you have to weigh up the value of what you're getting from a player versus his wage. Lamont and McNiff are both players who it's not easy to see departing (the latter especially given Rumsby could well be staying), but ultimately their wages were probably very prohibitive in terms of keeping them on as squad players or bench fillers.
  11. It would appear that former Stennie hero McGuigan is East Fife-bound, if his/his relative's posts in their thread are to be believed.
  12. It all depends on terms with Nicoll for me. If he has been offered an extension of amateur terms or buttons, then it could be an alright bit of business. Would sincerely hope the idea isn't for him to play any sizeable amount of football, though.
  13. The prospect of another season of Scott Rumsby hurts quite a lot, tbh. No real arguments other than that though.
  14. Dishing out any pre-contract offers would've been lunacy in the past month or so given the very real possibility of us sinking into L2.
  15. Used to have a lot of respect for Queen's as a football club, but that has eroded significantly over the past year and a half. To reward such success with a sacking is truly disgusting behaviour.
  16. Unless I'm very much mistaken, the position of the receiving player is what matters rather than the direction of the pass. It was a pretty tight one, but Goodwillie definitely was in an offside position when it was hooked back in. Not that we didn't deserve that stroke of luck, mind.
  17. Would happily keep on several others if they were relegated to squad player status and paid in accordance with that, but those are the only two I'd be wanting to see back as potential starters next year.
  18. Right then, how are we bottling this one? Completely in control and carved out about five great chances. A lot of mitigating circumstances, but really pretty good stuff from Clyde thus far.
  19. My goodness. Conceding three to this Dumbarton team [emoji23]
  20. Are Dumbarton playing like Del Bosque's Spain or are Peterhead just lying down here? The stats for this so far are quite something.
  21. That back five is screaming "calamitous goals against"
  22. Sounds like more shameful stuff, as it has been in all but a few games all season. Looking forward to our first game back in League Two with Eddie Ferns and Goodwillie up top and Rumsby at right back.
