Looking forward to seeing Oor new players in action mate?

Hopefully we hit the ground running and get off to a good start.

Indeed and after the last few years of criticism from Rangers fans over how our clubs perform in Europe, it would be good to see how Rangers can show us all up with a run to the group stages of the Europa League. After all a huge big club like Rangers should never fall in the early stages to complete unknowns or to any smaller club like the other diddies apparently do every season.

Strong rumour has it that if he played a certain number of games last season he was eligible for another years contract and he did. We're trying our best to get him off our books freeing up a wage and thats why we're hoping he signs for ICT.

Question is there, does Houston want to keep him? If he turns up at pre season training then it would be assumed Baird is looking for that contract extension. I don't see why the rumours are linking us with him, there's a perfectly good full time Championship club not that far from Falkirk who Baird has never played for yet who might be quite happy to sign him. He's not likely to get 1st team football for very long if he signs for us. Then at 31 Baird is probably borderline staying full time, maybe Alloa or East Fife would take him.

Why would you think we want to sign him now when the rumours started long before we appointed a new manager?

Not sure if this has been posted already but heard a wee rumour that John Baird will be signing for you guys.

We could do a lot better and anyway we have enough 30+ year old players at the club, we could do with some younger blood to build a future team around that will eventually play in the Premiership. Players like John Baird who have been passed around from club to club for us would only be a short term fix if we really struggled to find goals at this level in our first season, but as I said we can do better and I trust Robbo will use his connections to source players who have potential to play at a higher level including a couple of goalscorers. It will be interesting to see what players join pre season and play as trialists. I'd be surprised and a bit alarmed if we started signing players over the head of our new manager.

I have a feeling that Bob was attempting to laugh at the prospect of Celtic signing Hayes. A player that would instantly become Rangers best player if they signed him. All these fancy names have them more deluded than ever

Bob forgets, .....I'll put that down to the trauma of the last few years, but we don't here at ICT the legend that is Jonny Hayes, lets hope he can score a few more like this against them.

    Season Ticket Announcement

ICT are offering a series of bonus benefits as well as a reduction in season ticket prices as an apology for issuing them recently without enough explanation.

"No excuses - it was a mistake that shouldn't have happened " said new Chairman Willie Finlayson. "We accept there is a need for the club to have strong liaison with our fans and let them know more fully what is happening."

"Everyone at the club is devastated about our relegation. We all know we have no divine right to always be in the Premier League but it doesn't stop us from feeling like this."

He added "our priority is to regain our Premiership place at the first time of asking and that's why we want to protect the football budget as much as is realistically possible. That said, communicating involves listening and we have heard and seen some fans reaction to the original announcement "

"The Directors are also season ticket holders and volunteers but first and foremost we are also fans which is why we need to communicate better with our fellow supporters. We're all in this together."

He added " the bottom line is however that there is simply not much room in the world of lower income we find ourselves in for significant discounting of season ticket pricing if we want to present the best challenge for promotion. It's a real chicken and egg situation. The parachute payment goes some way to bridge the gap - but perhaps unsurprisingly not far enough. Outside the Premiership, season ticket revenues inevitably become a larger part of a club's income which is why we have tried to protect it. This is what we should have tried to explain better in the first place."

The Chairman also stressed that the tight financial structure needed to be in place to retain non playing staff and as much of the youth development set up as possible.

The club therefore announces the following :

    • A reduction of all season ticket prices by 10%. There is one home game less this season and this means the average cost per game is now slightly reduced.
    • An extension of the 'early bird' and loyalty offer to July 1st
    • Free entry for all Season Ticket Holders to the first game of the season - our League Cup tie at home to Brechin City on July 15th.
    • A higher than originally offered discount of 10% on season tickets (for holders) when we return to the Premier League (we acknowledge that there are no guarantees here).
    • A prize draw for all home league fixtures with the winner and a guest invited as Boardroom guests on match day.
    • A further draw for each home league fixture with the winner and a guest having corporate hospitality for the day.
    • An open day pre season for a chance for season ticket holders to meet with players (current and new), Management and Directors.

However I would stress that all Directors are happy to meet with supporters at any time down at the stadium to hear your thoughts and what's on your mind. Just give us a call!"

"I accept these further benefits won't satisfy everyone but we hope it goes some way to encourage the purchase of season tickets. A number have already been sold and of course you won't lose out on the discount. We’ll be back in touch with you about the arrangements here."

New travel club formed to help Caley Thistle fans get to away games

A NEW travel club has been set up to get as many Caley Thistle fans to away games as possible.

The ICT Supporters Travel Club has split from the fans’ group Caley Jags Together and wants to re-energise the travelling support for Inverness’s first season back in the Championship.

A 12-strong committee, chaired by fellow fan Rosemary Webb, have formed to organise buses for the 18 away league games next season, as well as any cup contests. The destinations next season will be more unfamiliar than the Caley Thistle supporters are used to, with Brechin and Dumfries now on the radar.

Some of the club’s younger supporters have got on board with the new regime, something welcomed by committee member Chris McQueen. The enthusiasm about an away day has not been dimmed by the dropping of levels.

“Some people will look at it as new grounds to go to. The people on the committee know each other, so that side of things should run well. It’s dependent on how well the team do,” said McQueen, a Caley Thistle fan who works off-shore.

“There’s a core three or four of us, with a couple of friends that have got on board. There’s four or five 18-year-olds who have got some ideas of how to try to run it.

“The Championship is maybe not as appealing to people but if the team are winning and up near the top, chances are more people will want to watch them.

“It might be tough at the start but if the club are doing well, I don’t see why it won’t work. There’s a good mix of young and old that go regularly and hopefully through social media, we can spread the word a bit more.”

The last away game travel was organised for was the penultimate game of the season against Dundee.
The last away game travel was organised for was the penultimate game of the season against Dundee.

McQueen’s work off-shore means he cannot get to every away game. He missed the majority of the run-in last season but came back for the final match against Motherwell. Similarly, he headed away for work at the end of last week and will miss some of the League Cup games next month.

“With any football team, the away support is usually more vocal,” he said. “You get to see new grounds and if you win, it’s the cherry on top.”

After the online furore over season-ticket prices – Caley Thistle maintained the costs of all categories of ticket despite dropping down to the Championship – the travel club are looking to do their bit to encourage fans to go to away games.

Last season saw a £20 flat rate applied for bus tickets to games but this has been halved for under-18s, students and concessions this season. Adults will still pay £20.

“We’ve tried to make it more affordable,” added McQueen. “If we get a bit of money in the bank, we might be able to reward fans and offer discounted buses later in the season.”

Bookings are already being taken for the League Cup games against Forfar and Stirling Albion next month and the aim is to match last season, where travel was arranged to all away games. The last away day organised was the penultimate game of last season, where Caley Thistle beat Dundee 2-0 to prolong their survival hopes.

Members are lobbying local businesses in an effort to attract sponsorship. The group separated from CJT to make it easier to manage funds between the two entities.

“The best way of raising money at the moment is through businesses or fundraising at grounds, then people paying for buses themselves,” said McQueen. “If we get a decent number on each bus, it pays for itself.”

.If you wish to get in touch with the travel club, you can do it via ICT Supporters Travel Club on Facebook or @ICT_STC on Twitter. Alternatively, they can be contacted on 07462 218717.

  7. OK so Robbo is our new manager, I welcome him back.

Its a strange appointment but this has never been a conventional ordinary club and so I keep an open mind on this. What he has in his favour is that we have retained 10 hopefully 12 players of a decent squad from last season so he has something to build around, maybe he can get us better orginised, bring in some promising young players especially up front. Will he be working with Brian Rice as his assistant though?

Regardless on who we would have appointed this season it would be a step up on Richie Foran as manager and so I'm quietly confident that we can do a lot better than many expect. I see we have been written off in the league prediction thread. :)

  8. Why are we being linked with players while not having a manager? This and that player on ICT's radar, who says?

If we sign any of these would it not limit the wage budget for new players the new manager might want to bring in? To sign any new players now would undermine any new manager that comes in and probably shoot ourselves in the foot when it comes to winning promotion back to the Premiership.

btw its taking too bloody long to appoint a new manager, given it took until well after the season ended to end Richie Foran's time with us we will probably appoint the new gaffer at Christmas??

Hull City are reportedly keen on Rangers midfielder Josh Windass amid speculation he could be allowed to leave this summer.

The son of the Tigers legend Dean only made the move from Accrington Stanley to Ibrox 12 months ago but has struggled to make an impact in Scotland, scoring once in 27 appearances for the Gers

So the Scottish Premiership is tougher than the English Championship?

And the news for them is just going to get more depressing for them over the coming few weeks. I almost feel sorry for them. Sitting there rocking backwards and forwards in front of their computer screens saying over and over again. 'They said they had died. They were meant to be dead'

Yep they wanted us dead but here we are. Loud n Proud :thumsup2

    Who's they?

Is this you dropping a clanger or have you just taken too much bait?

Seriously are you really a Rangers fan, there's been a few pretends over the years, some quite convincing?

Dave King said a week or so back that money from season tickets would be invested in bringing in players.

Looking forward to the next couple of weeks and to see just who we can bring in.

It was a straight forward question so had you answered only with the above I would have accepted it. I haven't been following what Rangers have been up to the last few weeks more bothered about my own team. However the rest of your answer looks like a defensive verbal splurge which leaves me with the idea that you really don't know either.

I have heard though that the only serious signing is Ryan Jack and the other signings and more especially the rumours about who you are supposed to be signing is all a big rouse to sell more season tickets, fair play to the media if this is the case. Your fellow fans have a track record for falling for being taken for a ride on any bandwagon the club creates.

That Dorrans bid is classic of the modern day ****. Guessing it was 750k paid up in shitey wee instalments with the rest being due if they achieve some sort of ridiculous unattainable target.

Problem there is that Norwich City don't have to sell to Rangers and end up going through a payment nightmare when they could sell to another club for more money and have the any money owed payed up on time.

The question should be where is all this money to spend on new players coming from?
