To be fair, we have been waiting all season for that delivery!

Surely it falls on the manager either way? Either we are training this way and putting in to practice in matches or we are training to play another way and then it goes out the window on match days. Regardless, the manager should be making sure that doesn't happen. Given how reasonable a reputation Jim has for being a decent "man manager" then I'd be surprised if it is the latter. I do, however, agree that we have players capable of better and I also that feel we are 1 creative midfield player away from being a much better looking team to watch. Touched on it a couple of days ago, but I feel a fit Crossan, Wilson and Frizzell with 1 other would be a decent attacking force from the wings and strikers. The issue for me at the moment is that I haven't seen enough from Johnstone or Jones to suggest they are up to being the 4th player on that set up. Even though, on paper, they should fit well with being a target with those players around them.

I know we have absolutely nothing in midfield but I'm inclined to say we would be much better (and hopefully less likely to play hoofball) if we set up with Frizzell and Crossan on the wings. I know Frizzell and Wilson worked out well vs Clyde when we won at home but I feel like we have only got Wedderburn capable of looking for a pass forward and with players like Forbes and Church on the "wings" we don't have much mobility, creativity and perhaps most importantly quality to carry it up the park into the danger area. Besides, isn't Frizzell meant to be a winger? I concede that we don't have many options up front and with a set up like that we either play one of the other midfielders and one up front or you are starting DJ or RJ up front with Wilson. I feel like the whole squad needs a mix up and mostly the starting 11 needs shook around a little bit. But Duffy is the last person in the world who will do that kind of thing so I guess we won't be seeing that any time soon.

That just goes to show how opinions can vary so much. He's decent but still very raw with lots of learning to do (imo).

Technically he is good which is the signature of a good all rounder...

Have to assume Wilson was carrying some kind of knock or illness but it definitely seemed a very strange one. I kinda expected Church to stay on the pitch as Rico has gone off injured in a couple of games recently and he would be the cover should that happen again.

100% agree on that. No threat going forward and no plan B it seems.

And then he goes and makes a fantastic save at the end there! Correct. But he very nearly cost us earlier in the game. He needs to learn to catch the ball more often and when palming it away, not to push it straight into the danger area. He is a decent showstopper and is young so plenty of improving to do and I am sure he will develop into a good 'keeper.

I've been questioning his reliability in recent weeks. A few uneasy moments and questions of whether he could have done better once or twice. Just not convinced he is anywhere near the standard of Alan Martin (as he has been compared to). I do concede that he is our best option, even when Smith is fit and in the squad.

What is wrong with Wilson then??

I'll never forget the game he played as a trialist for us vs Partick (the week before when signed for them!) at Firhill. What an awful performance that was. He went on to have a great season with Partick though.

It's a shame we have no quality from back to front. You can 100% see why Partick have lost games they should have probably looked to win in this league.

Can't deny that this coverage is - by a country mile - the best we have seen so far.

I'm not even saying I think Jones should be starting. The point I'm making is that I don't think Johnstone has shown to be any better an option. We all know that Wilson should be starting over both.

Was thinking that. There was zero contact but apparently (even with the replay) was a definite penalty. To be fair, he later said he would side with the ref but didn't admit there wasn't actually any contact.

Have to disagree. Jones looks clumsy and out of his depth but at times his touch is sublime and he plays decent passes. I'm sure he assisted Hamilton's goal vs Clyde in the cup with decent play and also scored that day - something we've yet to see DJ do.

Away from the football - Ross Docherty looked like a fucking idiot with that hairstyle.

"If we were better at scoring goals we could've scored goals" Pretty much. 3 very good chances really. Hit the post, a save for the 'keeper when he shouldn't have had a chance and then far too slow to let the tackle in for the 3rd.

With a bit of quality in front of goal we could have had 3 goals in the last 15 mins. Disappointing and need to improve.
