In other news, it looks like we’re going into our first league game with 1 striker (who’s not really an out and out striker). I was really hoping Farrell could pull something off this week but he’s clearly struggling to find someone. I did think his interview gave off vibes of him struggling a bit.

On the plus side, at least he isn’t just signing any old jobber. Hopefully something will happen next week.

Yeah, I agree he isn't sure where to make his move. But in comparison to JD who would have been pulling the wool over our eyes and pitching that he didn't need a striker etc. At least Faz is aware what we need and is waiting to get the right person in.

I suspect a young loanee will be the target as anyone around this level, who is worth signing, is signed up elsewhere by now.

We had away fans at our pre-season games; I'm not sure what our Level 0 max capacity is but certainly don't foresee it being a home gate only.

    Robert Jones hat-trick in a 4-3 defeat.

Surely you guys can accommodate the 2,000 max capacity in your stadium and still allow room for social distancing. What would that be 3 empty seats for every one being used?

At least I am sure I read about 2000 being the maximum just now, somewhere. It's hard to keep track of things these days 😂

  3. I remember Mark Lamont having the best delivery (in my opinion) I have seen at Dumbarton and being decent with both feet. But that was 8/9 years ago. I can't actually believe he is only 28 and younger than I am! 😂

I'd fear for most full-backs coming up against Dom Thomas. But I really fear for ours today at 16 and 19. Hopefully Dom doesn't rip the confidence right out of them like he did to most defenders during his time with us.

I see that's going well... 😒 can't tune in today as back out gigging (first one back!!)

Kinda glad now to be honest.

Is he one these guys we’re just signing for the sake if it so we can fulfill these daft league cup fixtures? Or is he an actual signing?

Given the lack of build up and things it certainly seems like I could be the former. I mean, we can all see that Paddy Boyle may not manage all that many appearances this season and we need cover, so it ticks that box at least...

  6. Forgot you guys had signed Sparky. Seen him at a Caravan park on holiday at the weekend with his family.

To be fair, you have a few okay players but I would say you need some quality in all areas. Dumbarton have plenty of experience but similarly there is a real risk that it won't work for us. Many of the experienced heads are effectively past their best and some of the younger ones haven't really proven themselves at any serious level.

Plenty time for more business for all teams.

Tbf, we laughed when Raith signed Kevin Nisbet...

Some did. I always thought thought he was harshly judged based on the penalty miss and he was always going to struggle based on the fact we only had about 10% possession and created an average of 0.5 half chances per game. The football was chronic to watch and was never going to play into a young player who wants to play how he does. He also admitted later that his attitude wasn't great whilst with us but for me the key was that he was still so young. Raith was the perfect move at the perfect time for him.

In a completely different way, I feel somewhat similar about Jones. He received way too much stick when compared to some of the other jobbers we had in our squad last season.

I felt that he often offered something to the team (never a direct goal threat though...)

That being said, he isn't really good enough for this level in my opinion and I expected him to end up in the league below ours.

The key is we aren't particularly desperate to sign anyone. I suspect Faz still has the budget for one or two potential starters and one or two squad players, so he can take his time now to get the right guys in. He'll know which players he'll fancy on loan and will just be waiting for them to be made available. We've got a lot of players who know each other too so hopefully the gelling process doesn't take long either.

Bought my season ticket on Wednesday, been delighted with how the club have acted this summer and I am absolutely buzzing at the thought of watching us against the Bankies in a couple of weeks (restrictions allowing hopefully).

Yeah, I was thinking about this whilst contemplating the lack of signings during the week... another major difference in getting players in and signed is getting to see them train together. That then means the management team will have a much better idea of how we can strengthen and add in the correct areas.

As opposed to the approach the last couple of years where we just sign loads of midfielders and plan to shoehorn them into different other positions if need be.

You would be highly wrong. The whole team was built around Easton playing in the hole behind the striker. We were looking sharp and pretty ruthless. When he got injured, Ferguson had no plan B and we had no one good enough to fill the gap. The drop off was more than noticeable. The injury genuinely took the wind out the entire club.

Long story short we only won one game between the middle of November and the end of March (1 win in 18 in the league) and needed to controversially sign Mr. D. Goodwillie to keep us up.

I just don't buy that Dylan Easton was the difference between Clyde finishing 9th (I checked 😉) or 1st 😂

Best part time team in the country... 🙄

He was injured five games into the season and we were superb when he was in the team. He was out for the whole season after that. Cool research bro.

Not arguing that he’s a tosser, he left us for Forfar on a free after we raised the money for his op. However he was great for Berwick before us, great for Forfar (whenever I seen him) after us and absolutely tremendous looking for Kelty even if the standard wasn’t great in the league.

I didn't research anything. Most of the stuff I said above could be wrong but from memory that was roughly how it went. Regardless of his contribution, Clyde were far from the "Best part time team in the country" and he showed absolutely zero loyalty to move on the following season.

I highly doubt losing 1 player was the difference between Clyde finishing 8/9th and 1st 😂 even a team like Clyde aren't truly a "1 man team".

I'm obviously only sharing my own opinion from what I have seen. I remember a couple of times when playing vs Forfar and having a bit of fear that he was going to tear us to shreds but I can only remember one game where he played well and even in that he didn't control the game or steal the show completely.

I watched a Stenny v Forfar game and, along with John Baird, he completely ran the show.

Ran the show against us the season before he went off to Kelty also.

Having seen him for Dumbarton and against us (a few times). I always failed to see what the ranting and raving was about. I also believe that this is his level as he has spent the majority of his career at this level or lower.

As I previously mentioned, he is also a bit of a tosser 😂 Always mind when Clyde were in League 2 and (I think) Barry Ferguson was in charge he gave an interview saying how they were the best part time team in the country... they finished 2nd bottom or whatever and he left the following year having hardly done anything.

Absolutely...... total shocker that they  did not refer to refunds.

To ask us to pay full price for a 3rd season, that may not allow the fans in to the full extent, dependent upon the Covid situation is just ripping us off once more.

Not even a mention of free FFCTV if you cant get in.

What's the expectation of refund for? Apologies if I missed something obvious.
