  1. Once Brexit really kicks in I'm looking forward to a television series called 'Dentures Under The Hammer'.
  2. Hancock has just been taken apart by Emma Barnett on Newsnight. Unless his middle name is Foinavon he's toast.
  3. Sincere thanks for his efforts and magic moments this season but you know what ? My heart will go on....
  4. The key phrase in my last post was 'largely rescued' but yes, Ross Forbes made a very valuable contribution although statistics do not tell the whole picture - who ever gets to hear about Mango's 79% aerial defensive wins for example ? And actually, mention of Forbes only serves to underline my earlier point about the midfield, we've already all seen the result of three one-paced players in there and it's not pretty.
  5. Let me be a bit controversial here...in my opinion last season was largely rescued by the input of Messrs Craig Barr, Dom Thomas and David Ferguson, none of whom remain at the club. Retaining too many of the squad who had flatlined for a large part of last term should be avoided, again in my opinion, or alternatives at least explored. If Carswell and Hutton both feature in next season's midfield that would be an act of folly.
  6. I'll be thrilled if JD decides that there may be a better option out there than Kyle Hutton.
  7. Wee Matt Byrne, Crazy Billy and Jean Hilton were Associate Members.
  8. No they won't, each of them will glide effortlessly into a well-paid sinecure because that's the way these things work. But their imminent demise as a party/movement/greetin' meeting does at least confirm that most voters still prefer conviction politics as opposed to the managerial type. On such a polarised issue as Brexit the middle ground was always going to turn into a huge sink hole. This is a point obviously still lost on Corbyn.
  9. Labour need to get off the canvas - someone sound the John McTernan bugle.
  10. I asked you last week if you thought that the Labour vote in Scotland could hit 10% - you never responded but the voters certainly did.
  11. Can we please just factor Labour out of any meaningful involvement as long as the buffoon Corbyn remains Leader of the Opposition ?
  12. If I was in Labour high command this morning I would not be clamouring for a GE any time soon as long as the utterly hapless combination of Corbyn and Leonard is still in place. Sure, the European Elections are used for protest votes but voters in Scotland especially have got seriously out of the habit of backing Labour. Thankfully.
  13. Lesley Laird spluttering with Denial and Deflection. Utter pish.
  14. I'm not yet sure I can attend but is payment on the night accepted ?
  15. Maybe, but I'd like you to explain why - just in case I make the same mistake, you understand.
  16. Football is an emotional as well as a financial commitment for the supporter. If I stayed in Kent there's every likelihood I would purchase a season ticket even though I wouldn't attend because I want Dumbarton FC to survive. But what I think isn't for everyone. However, as regards team-building and player-retention, etc., I don't think you need to be a rocket-scientist to deduce that things at DFC may be more intense at present than at some other clubs. We have good people engaged on behalf of the local community, people who are unpaid and freely giving of their time. Whilst I understand the anxiety I think Simon has given us a good, positive update so let's get behind them.
  17. On Friday morning I arrived at work and opened my first Email to learn that Dr Liam Fox would be dropping by at 9.30am on a fact-finding mission set up only the day before, and at his own request. Unfortunately his tour did not extend to meeting the troops, so the Glock pistol I keep in my desk drawer was not required. He was en route to an energy conference in Aberdeen where no doubt the sentence 'this morning I visited a blue-chip Scottish-based company who are excited about the opportunities that await in a post-Brexit world' was aired.
  18. Ironies abound...the same capitalist greed which has fucked so many people in its race to the bottom, and has driven so many people towards simplistic racially-underscored right-wing propagandists, was one of the key factors in the rise of Hitler thro the draconian financial reparations imposed on post WW1 Germany by the Treaty Of Versailles.
  19. Yes, but I think Australia is amongst the first countries to introduce this legislation, and that has upset the clergy.
  20. Says the man whose Australian church hierarchy is point blank refusing to comply with recently-introduced state laws demanding that information on paedophilic behaviour disclosed during the confessional be reported to the authorities. What is it about god-botherers, and the catholic church in particular, that they frequently consider themselves to be above civil law, yet have no problem lecturing the rest of us on matters of conscience ?
  21. Yes, I saw that, Reading University Conservative Club. It seems to me that whilst Scotland is basically content to have the one w****r per classroom, the English require about six or seven. The only person who looked and sounded 'normal' was the one female.
