back in the day most clubs had a social club, i am going back to the 80's here.. winton rovers had one just off princes st in ardrossan and in the 90's built one within winton park, ardeer thistle had one on new street, buffs had one within abbey park, petershill at the old peasy park, kilsyth, kirkintilloch rr, dunipace, renfrew, darvel. port glasgow, sadly the vast majority are closed and have either been bulldozed or mysteriously went on fire... many were not the kind of place to take your girlfriend to, rough as feck, cheap drink and you could cut the air with a chainsaw

kennie, why not schedule a game every friday night under the lights for clubs that want to, there is plenty of clubs with decent lights and make it a wee bit special in terms of pr, even livestream it on youtube, perhaps the sjfa could assist with costs also can the sjfa keep their ears to the ground at hampden, at some point the national stadium will move to LED lighting, could the sjfa ensure the present lighting system is not scrapped but is donated to junior clubs wishing to install or upgrade their lights, the hampden system could probably do 3 junior pitches

That was to do with the prevailing wind and achance of getting soaked in the bottom tier I'm sure. nope it was because the main access and turnstiles for the east stand was changed to dundonald road due to there being more space, also the main access for the main stand was fron dundonald road.... then chairmen muppet gave the old firm the moffat stand to the old firm as well as the chadwick and segregating the fans outside the ground went out the window

hampden always was a craphole like many scottish grounds, pre taylor report there was only cover at 1 end, you got drookit, the old north stand has very little in the way of emergency evacuation and it was a wooden floor (okay the rubbish fell far enough away so not to cause an issue if there has been a dropped cig like bradford) toilets and food--dont be daft, crushing was part of the game and you could see near as dammit feck all..... but it had the atmosphere, the roar of the crowd... perhaps we are all softies nowadays with all seater grounds, food stalls and toilets you can even have a shite in if required

During his long stewardship, the Ayrshire Region, for all the local rivalries simmering away beneath the surface, was a model of probity and a well-run organisation. This was down in no small measure to Matt Speirs, as Regional Secretary, and his right-hand man and fellow Hurlford United man, John McMurtrie. But he was more than that. During his period as Lottery Manager of the SJFA, he oversaw a competition was was a lifeline to the smaller clubs in the junior game. And this was his strength; Matt knew full well, the likes of Auchinleck Talbot, Kilbirnie Ladeside, Irvine Meadow or Glenafton were as good as any of the nearly 200 Scottish junior clubs. However, he also helped the smaller village sides. The Kilmarnock man gave over 30 years to Ayrshire junior football, as club secretary at Hurlford, then the epitome of neutrality as regional secretary, through his work with the lottery, and as Secretary then President of the West of Scotland Junior FA, and as a press liaison man with the local and national media, providing results and news as well as later becoming a junior football correspondent. He had the support of his wife Celia, and, when Celia, who was if anything more-popular around the clubs than Matt, died in 2008, around the time the West of Scotland Regional Leagues were formed, well, the time was right for Matt to step down. But, Matt had another life - he was a devout and committed Christian, an elder, the senior elder, of St Marnock’s and St Andrew’s Church in Scotland, and it was there that a good congregation went last Friday for a memorial service. Matt had died as he had lived qu5 Aged 86, he had been in failing health for some time, but set-off to Somerset, to see his daughter Carole and his seven grandchildren. On arrival he said this would be his last visit. Sadly, within days, his health deteriorated and on July 6, in the care of a hospice, Matt passed away. seems to work well enough in senior football, might encourage neutrals to go to a game..... did also notice with the midweek games that clubs that have satan's lanterns are being allowed to kick off at 19.30 and use their lights as opposed to 18.45, the kennie could also schedule a weekly friday night game under the lights for those clubs that have them
