  2. They've probably heard that there's a good chance that you'll drown in your own pish !
  3. In the off chance that it might be of interest to cyclists in the Lanarkshire/ Glasgow areas, I saw this ad on the side of a Mercedes van this morning : w.w.w.stewartsmobilecyclerepairs@gmail .com He lists some prices on this site.
  4. Looking out at Christmas Card type scene after a couple of inches of snow ! Not Happy !! ETA. Now it's really chuckin it down....I'll be stepping into Narnia later this morning without goin near a fuckin wardrobe !

It's got to the stage where you now have to dig at least to the sixth level of papers to get one that still has the wee magazine ! FFS, for the sake of a couple o bob....buy the fuckin paper !!
  7. See "Auchinleck...the worst town in Scotland ?", posted in February on the Junior Forum.
  8. Good stuff, first book of an excellent trilogy. If you like it , then you'll enjoy, " The Land O The Leal", by James Barke .
  9. If you don't have anything to read just now and fancy a very short story that you can read online, then google " To build a Fire". It's a tale from the Klondyke by Jack ( White Fang and Call of the Wild ) London. Wrap up warm and enjoy.
  10. You will certainly have the original registration number returned as this is never allotted to any other vehicle. The time to have this done should not exceed 14 days, and can be done much quicker if you visit the relevant DVLA office.
  11. When the private plate is removed, the car must be re registered with the DVLA using the original number.
  12. [quote name='Savage Henry' timestamp='1319877776' post='5696500' ] It is indeed. Edgar Allen Poe is also a master of the short story. Poe is indeed a master of this genre, I particularly enjoy "The Gold Bug"...but for me , the short stories of O'Henry are hard to beat. Try his " 58 Short Stories", with his experiences in La Salle County, and Austin, Texas, contained under the "Heart of the West" part of the book, while "The Voice of the City" and " The Gentle Grafter" sections contain the tales based on his life in New York. An excellent insight to life in early 20th. century America....enjoy !....
  13. Honda.....I made this post to take me off the triple six mark !
  14. Wilbur Smith is the H. Rider Haggard of the 20th./ 21st centuries, and most of his reviews have at least one "rattling good read" comment. His books are adventure/romance on a grand scale and are really good and easy reading. The problem is that quite a few have developed into family sagas...The Courtneys, The Ballantynes etc., so it's best to start at the beginning of these tales and as I don't know if the book you mentioned is in this category, it might be best to check. Good reads of his that "stand on their own", are "Dark of the Sun"...a mercenary tale compares quite well with Forsyth's "Dogs of War", ..also,"The Sunbird", "Eagle in the Sky", and "Goldmine", a story good enough to withstand the wooden Roger Moore in the movie version ! Or you could kick off way back at the beginning with "When the Lion Feeds". Happy reading !!
  15. Yes, I recommended it on here a few weeks ago....also try his much shorter, "One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich"...which is also about life in the Gulag .
  16. First run for a long, long, long time....did 5.8 miles (9.2 k...is that right ?) over very undulating terrain in 56 mins NVG, but I might just try again.
  17. That was the Frankel team, and the same owner/trainer/jockey were responsible for Wrotham Heath which cantered home in the 4.20 !
  18. I'm double checking right now and, according to the Virgin TV Guide, BMX Supercross World Cup is followed by Cycling ( Alpine Challenge)20.25 til 20.55 then Eurosport 2 News, at 20.55.
  19. Good prog on Eurosport 2 at 8.25 tonight that shoud be of interest to some of you hill climbing cyclists....it's called Alpine Challenge, and is an amateur cycling event that includes three mountain climbs.
  20. As the guy on Eurosport cycling would say, Chapeau ! to all you guys....great efforts, particularly in today's conditions . Hopefully you will recover in time to watch the 1st stage, Peebles/Dumfries, of the Tour of Britain on ITV4 at 7pm. Again, well done !
  21. Ok, for a more manageable read try Solzhenitsyn's, "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch".It's based on the author's experiences in the Gulag prison system, and is so atmospheric you'll want to wear some warm gear while reading it !
