  1. Ask him what happened at the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising of 1943 .
  2. I've used Pro-Am cycles in Wellgate St., Larkhall. It's a small shop owned by a guy who is a cyclist.....he knows his stuff and I've found his prices to be reasonable .
  3. Well that puts my Sunday 54 miles in 3hr. 20 mins. bang in perspective ! Great effort, well done mate !
  4. I was disappointed with the show and at times it looked like some of them had sniffed more stuff than some of the recent peloton . In fact, at one point I was genuinely concerned, as it looked like....and I'm being serious here... Obree might have developed Parkinsons . However, the same guy was then on the late edition of Scotland Today and was, to my surprise, relaxed, articulate, and humorous..... it was like watching and listening to a different guy .
  5. And it looks like the plaque's come off the wall.
  6. Lame and pathetic response from the Milton boy .
  7. Close your wee laptop, finish your playpiece, and get back into your class ! "North Glasgow " !
  8. There are a number of schemes within a 5 mile radius of where I stay and, trust me, if I gave you the option of living in one of them, or Rigside, you would opt for Rigside . One of those places actually merited a mention on STV news last night due to the repeated arson attacks on some of the properties there and even if we ignore the violence, or "roughness", that goes hand in hand with those attacks, the blackened and deserted buildings don't make for uplifting viewing as you drive past .
  9. Nothing unique there though, and I can think of a few schemes that are quite a bit worse than Rigside .
  10. I wasn't aware that I had made any mention of "roughness" though .The thread aks for our opinions, presumably based on first hand experience rather than a glance at a google map, and, in my opinion, there are a number of places that I've actually visited that would qualify for Worst Town / area, way ahead of Rigside .
  11. I've got to confess to some surprise at the Rigside vote here guys ,as I've passed it on a number of occasions recently when my cycle route includes Muirkirk and Lanark. Admittedly, I only passed through on its only main street and didn't enter the actual "estate", but I must admit to pedalling through some other hamlets at a greater rate than I felt necessary at Rigside . As for Owenstown, it would appear to be another tribute to the guy we associate with New Lanark, and therefore, no bad thing .
  12. Third Lanark Amateurs won the top division of The Greater Glasgow Premier league last season. They play out of the "Circuit " area in Cambuslang, and, having watched them on a couple of occasions, I think a fair comparison with the Juniors would put them in the bottom half of the Central 2nd .
  13. Sounds like this guy would have enjoyed the boozer where I used to have the occasional swally . During the course of a busy Saturday afternoon an elderly guy in dressing gown, PJs, and slippers, wandered in, planted himself in front of the telly, and started throwing back pints of lager...no one batted an eyelid .
  14. I've played fitba in both the West amd the East of Scotland and the nastiest folk that I ever had the misfortune to meet, both on and off the park, were the denizens of Whitburn. Really unpleasant people with actual and threatened violence never very far away, and a pub close to the Juniors' ground that made the boozer in Star Wars seem like a haven of peace and quiet .
  15. Trail Bike up and down concrete stairs.......no probs Scooter up and down concrete stairs..........big probs
  16. Recently I've been doing decent distances ( for me ) for fun, but I did 58 mls. today and struggled . Conditions were ok witha fair breeze but nothing worse than usual, but I just felt fucked ! Oh well, try again in midweek if I get the chance .
  17. Yeah, and racing lore has it that, as the tip was the expert's most valuable of the day , it was given the abbreviated name of the most valuable French ( why French I don't know ) coin at that time.... the gold NAPoleon .
  18. It will, but of course you won't stop there because, as you get fitter and feel more comfortable on the bike, you'll want to go out more often, and you'll also want to go further . I dug out the bike for a few intended short rides ( yeah, I know ! ) at the beginning of the year, and I've gradually gone from once a week 10/ 12 miles to two or three evenings of around 20mls. and a weekend spin of around 60 miles . Also, put a couple of bob aside for the wee extras that will soon become essentials...spare tubes, tyres, pumps, clothing etc. Most importantly, enjoy your pedalling !
  19. The lassie on the right realises that she's just shit herself, while Cousin It, on the left, waits to see if she's next for a reverse high shooder .
  20. This is new terminology for me, but kudos for the threesome !
