Was up at Locos today with the Mo idle - Strathspey are jaw-droppingly bad and lucky to only ship 4. You could make a decent montage of their comedy brand of defending with the Benny Hill music played over it, and any licensed team that eventually gets a chance should be kebabing them.

Gary Ballance named in the Zimbabwe squad for their T20 series against Ireland. He signed a two year deal to play for them after leaving Yorkshire.
Now has a test ton for them as well. Chanderpaul Jnr getting a double as well on a bit of a road in Bulawayo.

Urgh, next, etc.
The good stuff first: we did create chances and looked fine for the first half hour (don't think the Pars really woke up until then) and carried on scrapping right until the end after the game had gone. I know you should expect that anyway, but on a day like today where nothing really came off, it would have been easy to chuck it at 0-2.
The bad and ugly: lack of an RB is still a problem, we're leaving our arses flapping in the breeze there for the rest of this season. Midfield still too easily bullied off the ball. Second goal should not have been allowed to happen, well moved though it was in the end. Biggest concern: I'm becoming increasingly unsure whether McAllister is a) rightly bemoaning lack of service or b) not being as clinical as we expect when he does get it.
Came away today thinking 6th place is probably our lot this year.
Mercifully got parked well enough to be on the M90 back up north within 5 minutes, small victories, etc [/carwanker]

Aberdeen City Cooncil used to be utter shite at chasing up parking fines, not once did I get chased for multiple window stickers.
I briefly worked in/around that office around 10 years ago - there was such a big backlog that often you'd get off as they couldn't turn the appeals around within the statutory deadlines never mind chase the fines themselves. Not sure how they are now. On the other hand, the bus lanes are done on automated CCTV capture and have far less 'admin' to them so chances of getting away with those are very slim.

Machado is a properly off piste Elijah Simpson-esque signing. Hope's he's better than that.
Very meh window so far.

Yogi Hughes to turn those soft primadonnas into 'guid oanest luddies' - is it April 1st?

Not travelling with much optimism here, but finally ticking off the ground at least. Recommendations for parking?

Would have taken McKenzie, but judging by most observations from the Lolkirk game Matthews would be okay as #2. The other places (and potental absences as hinted at) are in more urgent need of solving.

Very surprised. That lack of a performance on Monday should have had any manager of a professional team binned straight after the game.
Be some laugh if the Dons nick a dirty wee 1-0 win on Saturday then get pumped by St Murn the following week with the window shut...

Jeebus. Darvel doing what they did in November and looking like they actually want this. Dons utterly phoning it in so far.

Those fans behind the Aberdeen goal look like they are outside the ground
Still getting a better view than they would at new Meadowbank TBF

Not bitter* or anything, but hope the Dons murder this financially doped up sack of pies.
ETA: Full on David Brent pish from this manger here. Boak.

Vital win, which hopefully will give a bit of confidence back to the team. Think we just about deserved it - our midfield worked well today, which isn't something I've typed much in the last two months.
I'm putting the QOS penalty miss down to karma because it looked very soft, as already mentioned. Bartley has a lot of dreck to clear out in that side.

It's been an odd season, we've veered violently between looking very handy (Dunfermline at home) and being an utter mess (Darvel at home).
I think we probably have to grin and bear the next two games (especially this Saturday) and hope SP gets a decent window draw before Kelty. Season now hinges on it - either we beef up and keep gnawing at top 4, or fall into a slump and land up 6th/7th.

Not a great game, that. Peterhead looked better today than they did in the first game at Balmoor, and did create some chances, but still think they're in dire straits league-wise. We didn't do enough to win the game simply, and it's knocking on two months without one now. Some January activity needed: rightback and midfield a must, possibly even a striker, or we can forget the top 4.

There are no Christmas songs that I like. None. There are many I actively despise, but not a single one that I like. I have no proof, but everything in my being tells me that all the big famous ones, the Slades, Wizzards, Whams, Pogues, etc, aren’t really Christmas songs. More like pension pot and royalty generators, so we better write one and sit back for the rest of our lives to hoover up the cash, each and every year for ever.

Whole of Scotland (apart from Montrose) erupts to Soots 160 to win 3-0 against Super Chin. Fantastic stuff
Nah, Soots is one of the good guys. Think I posted when he got his card he could be capable of the PDC top 32 and he's right in there.
Have seen quite a few games so far - forgot how much absolute dreck you get in round one.....

Victor Lewis-Smith: Journalist and satirist dies aged 65 - BBC News
Funny old world, but not for him: Victor Lewis-Smith at 65.
Some say he was a fat untalented dreadlocked Poundland Chris Morris. His critics were less kind.

Back to league 1. IMO.
Thank you.
Fully expected the Smokies to walk back down the metaphorical mountain, but not plummet off the north face entirely.
Ooft.

My short take is that was two teams who are capable of playing better but didn't, and ended up largely cancelling each other out. Happily take a point and move on.

Alloa are my dark horses for this season, we'll do well to get anything from this. 2-2 draw would be a decent result given how many we've let in lately. Even if we end up losing this, I'd at least want to see a better performance than last week's shitshow.

157 The Menu -- I enjoyed most of this comedy thriller. It opens like a whodunnit as 12 strangers gather to be taken to an island for the ultimate gourmet experience, but ends up far more interesting than that. Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy have their serious faces on while everyone else seems to be taking it more light-heartedly as events of the evening spiral out of control. Lovely wee touches like descriptions of the avant-garde courses appearing on screen. Needs a better dessert course, but still entertaining fun that packs a few shocks. 7/10
Just saw this earlier - found the film awkwardly caught between not being funny enough to be a comedy and not scary/edgy/etc enough to be a thriller/horror. Wasn't bad as such once the slowish start is over, but Ray Fiennes' OTT performance was probably the only thing that stopped me mentally checking out on it.
5/10, 2 of which are down to him. Fully expect this to end up on a semi-regular loop on the 9pm Horror Channel slot in a year or two.

Definite feeling of jumping before she might have been pushed. At least she had the self awareness to go, unlike the spaffer who was dragged out kicking and screaming. YMMV, but if independence is actually going to happen any time soon then the cautious softly-softly approach has to go and the SNP need a rottweiler type to take over and go in pell mell, but I'm not entirely sure they have one, most of the likely candidates just scream continuity.
