  1. That is some thread. I don't for a moment think that it's representative of the Rangers fan base as a whole. Neither is it representative of the Rangers fans on here, who are for the most part, decent sorts. It's bloody incredible that such types exist at all though. In fairness, there's even a voice or two of sanity on the thread itself, but a lot of work goes into drowning them out. Bonkers as their theories undoubtedly are though, I love to think that such thick and unpleasant people as those that dominate the thread, feel thoroughly disenfranchised and despised in the nation they call home. They absolutely should be.

On the first page, there is an appeal to 'take your children'

    ... or someone elses, presumably.

  2. Hibs fans seem to think that it is them winning the cup which is our grievance here , it isn't . Most rangers fans have conceded the better team on the day won and don't grudge it , we have lost finals before and we will lose finals again . The annoyance is coming from the fact players were attacked , hibs fans ran to the rangers end yet many are desperate to put the blame firmly at rangers door ,it's laughable but it is pie and bovril

Not what I'm hearing at all - the reason people are taking the piss out of Rangers is because of the absurd and provocative statements which came from your board, and the equally blinkered insistence from a lot of fans that the Rangers fans who invaded the pitch were somehow acting in 'self defence'.

The reality is, the deeply ingrained sectarian element in the culture of your club caused that reaction.

You can't go singing about "defending the walls" against some imaginary horde of enemies which is out to get you, without priming the neanderthals in the crowd to react in precisely the way they did.

I'm pretty sure all of the other supports in the land would have reacted to the hibs pitch invasion by calling them wankers and staying put - knowing it's their club which would suffer.

Hibs made an accurate and suitably contrite statement, your club talked a load of old shite and actively praised thuggery and bell-endery of the worst kind.

Rangers deserve an equal punishment, and I hope it is forthcoming. GIRUY :P

  3. Just stumbled into this statement from the "Vanguard Bear", absolutely jaw-dropping stuff:

No football club or support wishes to see fans fighting on the field of play or terraces, but on this occasion, we feel the Rangers support had no choice but to stand up and be counted. We would also hope the RFFF committee see fit to release some funds to help our fellow Bears.

Let us be very clear here, the Rangers supporters who defended their Club's players and fellow fans, did the job of the police and stewards who stood idly by and watched as our players were assaulted and abused, and our support taunted and subjected to attacks in person and by missiles.

  4. Yanks? ; No Thanks:

Former Rangers suitor Robert Sarver pours cash into Levante transfer kitty

    Mark Walker

    Friday 26 June 2015

ONE-TIME Rangers suitor Robert Sarver has promised to invest a whopping £30m transfer kitty into Spanish club Levante.

Phoenix Suns owner Sarver made a 20m bid to take control at Rangers

The American banker tried to buy Rangers at the start of this year, but his £20m offer was rejected.

He has since turned his attention to Valencia-based La Liga side Levante and his offer has been backed by The Levante Foundation - the shareholders group who run the club.

The owner of American basketball team Phoenix Suns has pledged to spend big once he gets the green light to become the club's new owner.

Sarver plans to spend around £40m completing the takeover and has insisted manager Lucas Alcaraz will have up to £30m to bolster his squad in the transfer market.

2nd in Premiership vs. 3rd in Championship. Europa League vs. Petrofac Cup. Whole squad of good players tied down on long-term deals vs. a few over-paid has-beens.

But he's a pyoor Raynjurs man byraway

The transfer thread on Rangers media makes pretty jaw-dropping reading.

    Suggestions so far include:

Jonny Evans, Ikechi Anya, Vladimir Weiss and Nikica Jelavic - although they'll take Stevie May as a second-string striker.

Also Josh Meekings, but I assume that one was just somebody having a laugh ;)

  6. And they say Celtic have no shame. I can't think that these roasters are significantly reflective of the The Rangers support in general or my faith in general humanity would be in question. The imperialist delusion evident in that 'article' suggests a serious mental illness or general incapacity at play.

The best thing that Rangers fans in the main could possibly do is band together to remove this borderline psychotic element from the club; they cannot move forward as a culture until that has happened and in doing so they desperately need to modernise their thinking. Similar to the 'Derry's Walls debate' on SevcoMeeja linked from elsewhere, even the fringe elements of their support demonstrate amply why The Rangers, their forebears and cohorts are universally reviled by everyone else in Scotland. It's not their 'successes' as a club, it's the intimidation, born to rule sanctimony and sectarian loathing evident in their support that well and truly rips my knitting.

It's hard to believe that they can do that now - they can't make a genuine fresh start with a jackal like King at the helm.

Rangers may once have stood for such things as community spirit, work ethic and an honest desire to compete and prove their mettle,

but now they stand for cheating, tax dodging and a greed for success with no care whatsoever for the consequences.

  7. Bloody rollercoaster game that one.

I'm overjoyed for the team and all the highland youngsters who were there, it will will define how a lot of them feel about what is possible in the game.

I dreamed the score the night before, but when I woke up I couldn't remember which team it was for, so it wasn't the handiest bit of second sight - until the last 7 minutes.

ICT's makeshift defence meant the whole team was on a shoogly base, and Falkirk's goal was coming for a good 40 minutes - it was almost a relief when it went in, felt nearly certain they would make good and finish us off.

The break for the winner was pure determination - Watkins burning every last bit of fuel he had left, and Vincent making damn sure it wasn't going to be for nothing.

Sympathies for Falkirk, their fans were great - and their players took us to the limit. Might not have been the prettiest, but a great contest nonetheless.

  8. Here's the disclaimer from Jeffreys Henry:

typo is theirs, looks like someone typed that in a hurry, huh?

  9. Jefferys Henry... we've met them before in this endless parade of chancers, have we not?

    Ah yes...

Jeffreys Henry LLP scores Rangers Football Club valuation role
    14 Dec 12

Jeffreys Henry LLP, the award-winning provider of audit, tax and advisory services, has recently advised Rangers International Football Club Plc on its £20 million intangible assets valuation in preparation for an AIM IPO.
    Rangers-AIM-IPO-Valuation.jpg

Jeffreys Henry was appointed to value the intangible assets of the Club, including its brand, member database, players, licenses, broadcasting rights, memorabilia collection and commercial software.

The valuation team was led by corporate partner Justin Randall and technical partner David Warren.

Justin commented: “We are very pleased to have advised Rangers on its valuation. It was highly specialised as there are high levels of emotional value surrounding sports clubs but very little solid market data.”

David added: “Detailed analytical work, our knowledge of company and brand valuation as well as our strong track record in advising AIM listed companies led us on a journey to the eventual valuation.”

Brian Stockbridge, Finance Director at Rangers International Football Club Plc, commented: “I am very pleased with the valuation work that Jeffreys Henry performed for Rangers at short notice. The team was thoroughly professional and we would be pleased to work with them again in the future.”

Valuation in the absence of 'solid market data' a speciality, it would appear

  10. Since I don't feel like going to bed, let's have a look at what that 20 million got you

Kevin Thomson - 2 mil (A good signing that had value in terms of the player Thomson was at the time and which ultimately got value back as he went to Middlesbrough for the same price)

DaMarcus Beasley - .7 mil (A relatively negligible amount of money and one that was largely repaid, even if he was injured a lot. His performance away to Lyon alone probably brought that back)

Carlos Cuellar - 2.37 mil (A good signing and sold on for profit - something that Scottish clubs should do, as Celtic have done with players in recent years, it remains to be seen what would happen if Rangers did it on a regular basis. If I remember right Cuellar was one of the few that was sold on for a profit like that, and it didn't go down well)

Lee McCulloch - 2.25 mil (Every penny well-spent, I'm sure everyone will agree)

Steven Whittaker - 2 mil (see Thomson regarding his stature at the time, can't say much for the fee he brought in since he left after liquidation)

Steven Naismith - 1.9 mil (the same, though I'd say he was better on the pitch than Whittaker)

Daniel Cousin - 1.1 mil (From what I recall he probably falls into the Beasley camp in that his European performances probably paid for that - but this isn't something Rangers are going to be able to get anything out of in the next what, three years at best? five years even for the CL?)

And since they only total 10 million, the shite he spent money on in 2008, since the job to rebuild the team after Le Guen got hounded out for not delivering instant success:

Andy Webster - .45 mil (What an odd situation that was)

Kenny Miller - 2 mil (Probably paid that back, although again, no re-sell value)

    Andrius Velicka - 1 mil ()

Kyle Lafferty - 3.25 mil (   )

Madjid Bougherra - 2.5 mil (a Cuellar replacement who probably could have been sold on like he was, there was some good had from him signing)

Pedro Mendes - 3 mil (3 mil? really?)

Steven Davis - 3 mil (was good, and could easily have commanded that and more back in transfers but for liquidation, think he falls under just being a product of a different time, a thought we'll return to later)

Maurice Edu - 2.6 mil (I remember when this signing happened, there was unrest outside Ibrox over... something, it was before a game then this guy gets wheeled ut and they all shut up. Money well spent, indeed).

Now in fairness, around 11.5 million of that second lot was funded by the sales of Cuellar and Cousin (he for 3.5 million as a 31 year old, somehow) and it's important to remember that there was some level of involvement in the Champions League from Rangers throughout that time, but all this does is reinforce that this is completely non-existent right now. The one player Rangers had with any sellable value was Lewis Macleod, who was out the door at the first opportunity. Potentially to keep the wolves from the door for another week. I've no doubt if Rangers were any more stable at the time they would have kept him, but they didn't. There's going to be no European income from several years, and getting to the Champions League is going to be harder than ever for all Scottish clubs.

Rangers need, for their own sake, to return to some level of success. Throwing money at the team to make this happen, as was the case in the past, is not only completely unfeasible now owing to the completely different circumstances from then and now but is completely impossible in Scottish football. The money that you want and that I've no doubt countless others want in increasingly unrealistic amounts, cannot exist. There will need to be an initial investment of some sort, of course, but to rely on this as a means of instantly improving the team on the park, and then the standing of the club, misses the point of where investment is actually required so spectacularly I can't imagine any Rangers fan has ever actually been able to understand what happened to Rangers over the past twenty years. They spent money they didn't have, on maintaining the team in a way that wasn't possible, to appease a fanbase out of touch with reality (and in comparing the reaction to impending doom of Rangers and Hearts fans, a largely apathetic fanbase), and it fucked them.

If I was Dave King, or someone with a better tax record or illusion of trustworthiness that didn't see my millions stand idly by while a clown car of charlatans rolled up to drain the club he loved so dearly I would sit at a press conference and say the things that would happen while I was in that position. Think Fergus McCann, only with more bored contempt for the people he was addressing. The thing that needs to happen for Rangers, that would be best for Rangers and best for Scottish footballers as far as a club with such resources should be providing Scotland with more than it has and does, is for them to be ruled with a completely non-Rangers man. A man who can see past all the bluster and shite about rightful places, about what they deserve and say, no. It can't happen. This is how to be successful, this is what we're going to do, and if you care about this club as much as you say you do you'll shut up and deal with it.

This would have the added bonus of possibly driving out some knuckle dragging hangers-on of its own doing, rather than having me needing to say "and if you start singing about ******s during a game I'm pulling the team off the park myself," but I digress.

We've seen various clubs the world over survive financial hardships of different sizes and types, hell we've seen how to do it properly in our own country. Yet this doesn't seem to be the most pressing thing that Rangers fans want, or think they need. And to return to the topic of this thread, that's quite funny, since I don't have any emotional investment in it.

Good, but no funny. You might want to re-post in the BRALT... :-)

  11. Interesting watching the pieces shift in the Birmingham City story currently unfolding.

In their case, it is demonstratably the case that the 'club' is legally separate from the 'parent company', the extremely slippery entity below:

    BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS LIMITED
    伯明翰環球控股有限公司
    (Receivers Appointed)
(Incorporated in the Cayman Islands with limited liability)

It is certainly the case that 'old Rangers' did not have this structure - the club was incorporated, and later became a PLC.
Many authorities have been paraded to pretend that this was not the case, mostly referring to each other rather than any points of law if they are asked to justify their logical acrobatics.

These assertions do not alter the facts of the matter one jot.
