From Transfermarket it looks like Russell McLean has been at about 11 clubs in 8 years and has never been a reliable goal scorer. I think it is time for him to accept that he isn't going to be a professional footballer and "find his level" which I reckon is tier 5.
Regarding Russell McLean
FACT- A trialist can play 5 games according to the Lowland League rules.
HEARD FROM A (SOBER) RELIABLE SOURCE:- He believes he is good enough to secure a contract with a SPFL club and is actively offering his services but so far no takers.
Time will tell.
The BU goalie and back 6 played near the levels I would expect and Louis Kennedy played OK. It was Foster, Stenhouse and McLean who were well below par today.
........and the substitutions just didn't work. I have to assume Stuart Hunter thought by putting on Dalziel and it would force Linlithgow to sit deep and defend. It didn't and it looked at times we were a man short.
The interesting results are probably affected by the "Mince Pie Factor". The LL managers can encourage their players to eat and drink like a pro on Xmas day but the temptation for many is too great.
Arteta does this to copy Pep's tactic of putting a defender into a no 6 role. The difference is that John Stones is a natural defender and risk averse. Zinchenko makes a couple of mistakes in almost every game I watch him.
Don't know about the legal aspects but the SFA would look silly trying to argue how 18 clubs cannot be allowed in the LL but 16+2 guest clubs (or +3) is OK.
