  1. Indeed, it's bigger than Dingwall, to pick a SPFL venue at random. However, Dingwall has a vast hinterland. Mainly populated by sheep and deer, who are, of course, all staunch County supporters. On the face of it, nothing to stop Kelty making it to the Premier and indeed Europe.
  2. No indeed. There's only one Sevco.
  3. The club's names date from a time when Nottingham city was indeed within Nottinghamshire. Surely we don't expect clubs to be renamed with every daft local government reorganisation?
  4. Exactly. The SJFA should now be doing the best it can for the remaining members. If TJ can achieve that, then the SJFA can be dissolved with some dignity, rather than facing a death by a thousand cuts over the next few years.
  5. You're right, I got my tiers confused and was thinking of the HL. I doubt if any NCL clubs would want to be part of the pyramid. Geography is against them.
  6. The HL goes as far North as Wick. How many teams are there "farther" North?
  7. OK in the west, but there's already a long- established tier 6 league in the north. But you're right about the central non-role.
  8. Possibly, if the competing potential sponsors were Apple and Coca-Cola. However, if they do find a sponsor it will be a corner shop in Lumphinnans, or similar. The owner will have no delusions about the "super-ness" of what he's buying.
  9. The SJFA constitution expects the regional AGMs to follow the national one. That is arse-about- face, and typical of a top-down mentality. You can imagine the message down from the top - "Nothing to see, steady as she goes ...". Whereas the message up from the regions might be "Help!", but no response for another year. Of course, in the real world, there would be lots of informal communication, but for whatever reason that doesn't seem to happen on Planet Junior.
  10. No, but it's not a bad definition of stupidity.
  11. I don't think they do transparency. The list of committee members is hidden away in the Constitution and Rules booklet, listed under "Downloads". The minutes are probably written in longhand with a quill pen, and not available electronically. Why would the SFA want to employ any of them, except maybe the wifie who makes the tea?
  12. About 50 miles. 65 minutes' drive according to Google. If a club isn't willing to travel even to the next county, then perhaps they'll never commit to the pyramid.
  13. Which does not rule out Junior clubs, e.g. Clydebank.
  14. Do you have any evidence to support that claim? And how do you reconcile it with the statuses of Banks o'Dee and Linlithgow Rose in the latest licensing update? https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/media/3844/club-licensing-current-update-june-2018.pdf
  15. I see no issues at all with continuing the Junior Cup and widening it to all non-league clubs. I was merely questioning another poster's reference to "its place in the game", and my question was "Do you mean almost entirely ignored by the media , and indeed everyone outside the Junior community? " That question still stands. And what do you mean by "... how important it's been in the Scottish game"? I'd suggest it has been of negligible importance, if any, to the wider game.
  16. The discussion was about the Junior Cup, not the entire set-up.
  17. No, just trying to define what that place is.
  18. "Its place in the game" - do you mean almost entirely ignored by the media , and indeed everyone outside the Junior community?
  19. Nothing has been announced, but I think it's unlikely that they will cut cards.
  20. 124 less, but 3 fewer games. Average per game is about 2 miles more, i.e. negligible.
  21. Posters have asked many times for examples of what makes the junior grade great. At last we have an example - it's the ability to cancel a game at short notice so that the players can go on a piss-up, with no regard for the inconvenience to other teams and supporters. The SFA should ban them for bringing the game into disrepute. And also fine the league, for allowing it.
  22. So we have the non-league clubs to thank for our national team's dismal performance over the last xxx years?
