  1. He'd be an excellent option in any of the forward positions. Only ever seen him for Scotland where he seemed like one of the few Anglo-Scots who actually gave a shit, always seemed to work hard even if it wasn't working for him. An experienced player for Gallagher, McLennan, Cosgrove, Wilson, Hedges, and the younger boys to learn from wouldn't be bad either!
  2. Lingman(#10) worth a look? Excellent pass for their goal and thought he was pretty tidy on the ball
  3. From youth to squad yeah, for him it's more kick on to be a must pick. He showed he can change a game (4-3 v livi?), just hope he can make that more regular and get his feet moving as quickly as his brain wants them to...
  4. Feels like we will be starting this season with a much more balanced squad and any further signings will be improving the team rather than filling gaps. Hedges and Leigh are interesting signings, played a decent number of games and a good age to improve. Any of McLennan/Wright/one of the Rosses make a step up, stay relatively injury free, and we should be in a pretty good place.
  5. Or, we/his agent wants to have his name in the paper again to drum up interest...
  6. As a replacement for Reynolds and cover for Devlin's inevitable injuries it's a fine signing. If we do sell McKenna and don't bring someone else in then it's a pretty poor signing
  7. Decent chance that Cosgrove (20k) will out score Édouard (9M) and Morelos (1M). If McKenna goes early, or we know he will, then we would have a bit of leeway for a rebuild. Hope we'd push the boat out and try to get Jason Kerr in as his replacement as we'd almost definitely recoup whatever we pay. Quite like Lawson at Livi as a possible Shinnie replacement.
  8. He's 34 so only likely to be playing for a season or two and likely to be looked at as cover at this level. Might be that he didn't fancy playing for a lower league team having been a borderline PL player. Or he could be shite/made of balsa wood Looking forward to the game we play the Levein back 4: Halford (6'4) Devlin (6'2) McKenna (6'3) Considine (6')
  9. 1. What would improve us? 2015 Hayes, 2017 McLean and a 1995 Billy Dodds? 2. Who is available in January for <£100k and <£3k wage who meets that? The rumoured offers/enquiries for Barker and Pittman would probably fill the first two roles but neither are as good
  10. Does it seem odd to anyone else that this came out yesterday when it supposedly happened a couple of weeks ago? If it came from Aberdeen you'd think they were trying to get a bidding war going, but it apparently came from Stoke.
  11. I'm confident that we wouldn't get the most out of Allan, doesn't seem hard working enough for how McInnes plays (see G. Stewart)
  12. Quite like Tanser at St Johnstone as an option for left back, think he's out of contract at the end of the season.
  13. Cosgrove now has the best minutes/goal record in the league
  14. Wilson took his goal well, thought that was probably McGinn's best performance since coming back. Ball is a weird player, occasionally excellent but managed to misplace nearly every pass today, stood on the ball a few times and managed to f**k up a throw in.
  15. If you try to kick someone it's a red, you don't need to make contact let alone with enough force. In fairness Morelos just looked like he lost his balance/had been knocked off his feet when you watch it at full speed. It's only when you slow it down and get reverse angles that it's a clear kick out. Their argument was that Morelos was just trying to regain his footing, if the panel only review at full speed I can see that being accepted, but they didn't rescind it they downgraded to a yellow which makes no sense.
  16. Opens up the option of a 3-5-2, not that we've ever played that well under McInnes....
  17. English incoming transfers end tomorrow, Premiership clubs then know who they can loan out. Championship/League 1/2 will know who's surplus or where they're lacking. Free agents are more likely to know what their chances are of getting a contract down south. From the sounds of it there have been plenty of iron in the fire but most went cold, but there is definitely a deficiency in the recruitment side of things. Before McInnes came in I wasn't too keen because it seemed like a decent amount of his success at St. J was signing folk he knew from his playing days. Similar to the current training arrangements, recruitment seems to be an area we've fallen behind on
  18. Again, any reportable progress. The level of Bosman player I'd hope we're looking at should be thinking they can get a Championship club so won't be rushing to sign for us. Similarly clubs won't be desperate to shift fringe players unless they have replacements coming in. Its probably fair to say we have little chance of getting past Burnley regardless of who we sign. If (and it's a big if given McInnes' signings so far) we end up with a stronger squad at the end of August than we would given the options available this week I think that's probably the right decision, frustrating as it is.
  19. If we can take Rogers back at any point then arguably we don't even need to get in an old head. Tbh it was odd when he resigned given that we brought Woodman in. I'll be getting the plastic sheets out on Monday night if it's still the same, really hope anyone coming in gets a good couple of weeks before the Burnley.
  20. I think Football/Championship Manager has a lot to answer for when it comes to foreign markets. When it comes to SPL/Scottish Premiership the number of successful players brought in from outside the UK is tiny. We don't have the resources to effectively exploit all of Europe, we also can't offer an attractive enough package frankly. If we had a history of bringing in players and selling them on to English teams maybe. Add to that, as McInnes has said in the past, you have much greater confidence that UK based players will more easily integrate into the team.
  21. Ryan Jack, Ryan Fraser and Scott McKenna all got their break "out of necessity" but they all grabbed that opportunity and made themselves first picks. Wright did that in the Partick game at the end of 16/17 but didn't really make the most of his chances this season, given how average Stewart, McGinn and GMS were for big stretches of the season we can only assume that Wright didn't impress in training either.
