If there was an "official partner" or "official supplier" for astros agreed by the SPFL and some guidelines as to what's acceptable at what level that would be fine. But every artificial surface seems to play completely differently which doesn't make sense given its an engineered surface.

Pretty much sums him up. He seems to hold on to the ball for a beat too long then has to play it backwards, again that could be down to the complete lack of creativity in the team. I prefer Campbell, but he tends to have the opposite problem of playing an overly ambitious ball that no-one else reads.

Might be able to push that high for the European games without away fans?

Think the Director of Football/Sporting Director model would be the best thing long term. One of the main complaints of the past decade is the lack of youth coming through. I think in part it's the lack of a holistic approach which means even when youth players come through they don't necessarily fit the system/style of play (McLennan and Wright most recently, and look at the impact Anderson has had at Accies). If the club do go down that route the DoF needs to be in first and be part of the decision on who the head coach is. As Derek Rae said on that Here we go podcast, the next hurdle is the media but Cormack seems confident/arrogant enough to stick with it.

The SPFL should have inspected and approved the arrangements at all 12 clubs before a ball was kicked. Having an investigation in January because a manager went off on one is ridiculous.

If you're of a conspiratorial mindset the quote from McInnes is interesting: "There has been a conversation at boardroom level". I'm definitely a "remember McGhee" type, I was convinced Calderwood's last side weren't performing as well as they could and bringing in a manager who had Motherwell playing exciting football on a shoestring budget was a masterstroke. Clearly my opinions shouldn't be trusted...

Wright is 24 in August, my understanding is we won't be due any compensation at that point. Edit: a quick Google suggests that there's no compensation after a player turns 23 (think the English FA have an U24 rule)
