  1. I believe RP did make a comment about existing SFA members views being taken into consideration which fuels the "we're not dividing the pot any further" theory.

However the overriding impression was that the SFA haven't had time to deal with the applications as they have more pressing matters to deal with.

The problem for the 17 clubs is that the applications have not been rejected so you can't demand your money back as they may be accepted.

So it will be possible to get promoted to the HL by winning a LL play-off while there is no relegation from the HL?

I believe that RP didn't go into any great detail but when questioned about the middle of the Tay border he said that we shouldn't let geography stop teams playing in the League they want to. As it appears most Tayside teams would rather play in the LL your HL relegation question may not come into play.

Beside as Al points out in order to get promoted to either league you have to be licensed.

So far then if I read correctly still no answer to why no licensing rubber stamping. 17 delegates who should have stood firm and demanded the reason and none was forthcoming ?

    That appears awfully weak.

Al, I believe there were lots of pertinent and strong questions as well as strong and reasoned points put across but at the end of the day if RP says "I take all your concerns on board but can't tell you when these applications be dealt with" what can you do?

It was indeed, on both counts, by RP

There's a new back of a fag packet plan, which was different to the one discussed at the PWG apparently. He stated on at least half a dozen occasions that this plan meant "the juniors will not be at Teir 6 next season". He was questioned on it and confirmed.

However they could still be in tier 6 if Ian Maxwell selects either Superleague winner to take part in the LL playoffs next season.

I believe there were lots of straight questions fired away at RP about the licensing delay which he batted away with no real answer. It does appear that the license were not mentioned at the last SFA board meeting and RP could not commit to a date when they would be dealt with.

Am I right in saying that Maxwell did very little talking last night Gaz?

  5. For confirmation, from what I have been told:

Petrie stated that he asked the Highland league and the NRJFA to have talks re a tier 6 feeder which they did and the juniors decided to stay as they are.

If a Tayside team wins the LL playoff they will have the right to choose whether to enter the Highland or Lowland league.

The SFA will administer discipline for all tier 6 leagues. When specifically questioned RP said that would include any game that a tier 6 side played in all competitions.

Finally i believe RP has told the SJFA about the discipline and split Superleague issues.

  6. I believe Rod Petrie stated outright that the juniors would not be joining tier 6 this season due to the discipline issue and the fact that the East Region can not have a spilt superleague.

    HOWEVER.

He also said that next season Ian Maxwell will have the final say on who gets to take part in the LL playoffs and apparently refused to rule out the winners of the junior leagues being selected to take part.

So the juniors aren't in tier 6 next season but they may be!?!

  7. The EOS said months ago that they planned on conferences for next season with a hierarchical set up from the 2020/2021 season. I don't see how you can change the set up at the end of the season given that teams weren't aware that they if they finished in the bottom four this season they would end up in tier 8. For that reason we have to stick with the intended set up.

The invitation to tonight's meeting states that there are three applications to consider, Glenrothes, the Strollers and Syngenta. Bar any last minute changes that will be it.

You could do a wee bit of geographical tweaking by committing not to put St Andrews in the same Conference as Tweedmouth / Coldstream / Eyemouth

I've said it before and I'll say it again. St Andrews do not have a problem with travelling to play a game of football.

There's no point us slagging off the East region juniors for going back to local leagues and then doing the same with the EOS. Leagues should be selected on merit not location.

  9. There's no indication of any teams other than the three we know about applying.

Although I would like to see all the east region juniors joining us I'm happy with the quality we already have in the EOS.

It’s the deadline for new teams applying to the EOS today. Would be good with a few teams applying.

It would not surprise me if the glenrothes juniors application is an act of desperation. There current player pool is desperately thin. The strollers plan will lose them any chance of getting players that route. So they put up their own competing plan.
I can seriously only see 1 winner.

My understanding is that it is the other way around.

I believe the Strollers are about to lose their oldest youth team to Glenrothes. With the Strollers amateur side disbanding we may need some sort of commitment from the Strollers that they are going to last in the EOS.

  11. I've spoken to David Baxter on a couple of occasions and he seems a very capable guy.

Is this the Rod Petrie who sold off the Hibs team that demolished Kilmarnock in the League cup final, watched his side be relegated and kept boasting about how much money the club had?

  12. If the Tayside clubs are unwilling to be in the pyramid with the HFL then any move to cast them adrift under ERSJFA control is doomed to failure. Don't forget the Tayside teams have 19 votes to everyone else's 16.

This is only a first meeting which could easily break up with no deal.

For me I would like to see any changes made for the 20/21 season as there have been a few years recently where clubs have spent all season fighting for promotion/against relegation only for the set up to be changed due to reconstruction. Hopefully this season won't be the same.
