Chapman was firmly in the "not for me" category before Saturday. But I do understand why Lasley started him even though we had Morrison available. You've got an older keeper available and it's a high pressure game. Perhaps he was hesitant to through Morrison to the wolves. To be absolutely clear, I would have started Morrison. I am not defending that big cart horse Chapman. But aye, if he starts Chapman at the weekend that's him basically chucking it.

The Celtic All Seasons thread

Aye it's like when you get the "yer da" types going mad because some player has posted about playing PS4 when the teams on a bad run. You can't train 24 hours a day. Now I am aware that what Celtic are doing here isn't illegal. It is, however, completely and utterly tone deaf. -
I suspect the clusterfuck that was Saturday probably accelerates the whole thing again. In an ideal world Las takes charge, wins the derby and everything is rosy. Clearly that did not happen. Being back at work today I done my usual Monday morning routine of having my breakfast and watching Sportscene. I cannot believe how fucking terrible we were. I've been sat in my spare room working for the past year & haven't even played a game of 7s and I swear to god I'd have saved at least one of those.

Chris Cadden's main attribute is that he could run all day long. Technically he isn't that great a player. Playing at right back probably suits him best with that. Fair play to him for turning that into a stint in the states where he's being paid handsomely alongside the lifestyle that comes with it. If you'd offered me that at 22 I'd have ripped your hands off.

Hartley was finished. Completely finished. His performance alongside Mugabi in the 4-4 game was just confirmation of this. Tait would have been good to keep around. But ultimately we were trying to sign him as a back up to Grimshaw, which 6 months ago was sensible, but now seems ridiculous. No hard feelings towards him. He picked the mystery box and wound up starting every week at St Mirren.

There was a point where that Donnelly, Campbell & Polworth midfield looked so balanced. When we could bring on O'Hara to kick folk when Donnelly had been booked it was a functional team. Gallagher is like the fucking colossus in a Scotland shirt but has regressed spectacularly for us. Maybe that's because he's had the fucking Keystone Cops playing alongside him tbf. Long can f**k off. He clearly had designs on a move down south to be paid handsomely but then covid but the kibosh on that because there is no chance he wants to be anywhere near here. He's barely played, and when he does he looks like he can't be arsed. Polworth's a strange one. On one hand some of his through balls last season were *chefs kiss*, but he does go off the boil. I'm not sure he fits in if there's any attempts to throw hammers. Part of his game is threading the ball through for wingers but we don't have any of those.

Aye I think that's pretty spot on. Something changed, probably down to Covid, that meant we started looking at players that were available in the vicinity of ML1. O'Donnell seems to have fell into our lap due to the pandemic and is probably the one transfer that has been passable. The rest have been varying shades of shite. White's a weird one. I think it was you that had noticed we were interested in him about 6 years ago. Which is fair enough as he had a pretty good record in his early days. Not sure what we've seen in him since 2016 that's lead to us spending years before landing our man.

So I do think there was probably a bit of a covid-shaped issue with the summer transfer window. However that doesn't excuse how utterly dreadful every signing has been. I know whenever we bring a player in there's an element of playing the lottery as we need to bring in players with their own baggage that means they'll play for us. But to have struck out across the board? That's surely a failing on more than Robinson. And to finish this going full yer da. I know the Turnbull money is earmarked for other things that are long term, but surely there must be something can be put into the playing squad. Without anyone new in the door we are completely and utterly fucked. A defence that couldn't keep weans out a close and a set of strikers that couldn't score in a barrel of fannies. *ahem* AH'LL NO BE BACK* *due to Covid & that.
-
I can only hope that Aaron Chapman has played his last game for us because that performance today was worse than Craig Samson. It's wishful thinking to hope we could bullet half the squad but there does need to be some new folk in or we are going into freefall. Of that team today I'd honestly only want to see Gallagher, Campbell & Watt play next week. Maybe O'Donnell can get a pass and if Carroll gets back to fitness he's a decent left back. The rest can all get squarely to f**k. Absolutely gutless across the board.
