  1. *Something about Candice and a soggy bottom*
  2. Does seem odd for McGhee to be putting it about that there's no bids in and he expects he'll be here. Surely the point of a transfer request would be when an offer has come in to try to force the hand of the club. Either way, Johnson & his agent have had a howler today.
  3. I think Ainsworth is a total confidence player. When things aren't going for him he looks dreadful, but when he's on form he's a joy to watch. I mind a couple of years back he had a 5 or 6 game run where he scored every week. In particular I mind against St Johnstone where he was like a man possessed, every time he got the ball he was drifting by 3-4 players.
  4. Aye. Pretty much. He's shown a couple of brilliant flashes, but he's so lightweight I'm struggling to carry on thinking he'll make it. Cadden was lightweight in January when he came in, but since then he's bulked up and looks like he can handle the physicality. I really want Thomas to kick on and show us his worth, but I am rapidly losing faith. Also interesting to bring up Ainsworth. In a battle of pure numbers, Ainsworth is probably a far more productive player than Johnson for us.
  5. Tbf I wouldn't say we're comparing the ability of the players. I think it's just the fact we are in a far stronger bargaining position than Dundee ever were with Hemmings or Stewart. With a mixture of release clauses and them being out of contract they were forced into selling on the cheap. As you say if you look at the numbers when comparing Stewart & Johnson, Stewart is on top in every category. I've resigned myself to him leaving today. I reckon if we get anywhere north of £500k we'll take it and run. Following that the meltdown on Steelmen Online will be enough to bring down the entire internet.
  6. You might find it if you can dig through pages of debate about how much a taxi driver earns.
  7. Aye but even if he was, it would be McGhee's fault for playing him up front and telling him to score goals.
  8. That statement definitely smacks of the agent turning his head. I think we'll end up getting ~£500k which is far shorter than I'd value him at considering what some of the dross in the world goes for. Hopefully get a decent sell-on clause included in the deal though.
  9. Aye. That whole sequence of posts was enough to make me wonder if we could just delete the internet.
  10. I can confirm that Steelmen Online was a bomb site following the transfer request. Edit to add my personal favourite post: "the transfer request shouldn't mean anything,if the club dont get the money there looking for then he goes nowhere and if he wants too go in the huff then he shouldn't train with the first team or be involved in any games."
  11. I'd say, for once, the club are in a really strong bargaining position for Johnson. He's got 2 years left on a deal so it's about a club trying to meet our valuation rather than him leaving on a pre-contract in January. I'm not really that arsed if he goes, provided it's for a good sum of money.
  12. Gauld, possibly not; Henderson, absolutely. Henderson has played a single half for Celtic this season. Cadden has been one of our standout players for about 8 months now. I reckon Sbragia didn't even know Cadden existed tbh.
  13. Tony Straker was the highlight of that season. Nobody else caught the eye quite like Tony. I miss him taking a first touch square into the face. BRING BACK TONY. #Straker44
  14. When gauging a player's ability off a YouTube video, please bear in mind this video: Now this guy looks like a serious player.
  15. Similar to the Tom Hateley chat in the other thread I don't care what he's like as a person. He's just shit. At least Hateley was a reasonable full back. Chalmers is worse than a man short.
  16. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/14700143.Joe_Chalmers_on_his_stuttery_start_at_Motherwell_and_his_best_showing_in_claret_and_amber/ There's yer boy Chalmers saying he's been doing his best for the club.
  17. Tony Straker once 'megged a Hamilton player, and also cracked a half volley at Ian Baraclough from 2 yards away. All round gid c**t.
  18. Good to see us showing some baws though. At least it's a change from the days under Dempster where we never renewed contracts and let everyone piss off out the door for nothing.
  19. Aye I'd assume so. So we'd likely have had training run by the keeper coach & the head physio. With the odd bit of input from McManus, Lasley etc. I think the McFadden appointment is low risk in terms of finance and expectation. I also love the guy. Related: Have we all seen who Robinson has appointed as an assistant?
