I don't know the ins and outs of it at all either but I'd equally say the McMahon/club video and decisions have perhaps been the rocket up the arse the WS needed to get moving. Maybe not what the 'disruption' was aimed to do but, think I said this maybe already (lost track now), if the outcome is a coherent deliverable strategy from the WS, as majority owners, then absolutely all good.

I mean it probably would have been better if we didn't piss money up the wall on a video to do this but I get your point.

I would love that and will die on the hill  in that is exactly how Davie T should have progressed.

He’s now regressed that much he can’t get a game for Cardiff ffs.

100%. The obvious compare is Lewis Ferguson at Bologna. When they were both coming through I would have said Turnbull was the superior player, but watching Ferguson strolling round Serie A these days is tremendous. Also Bologna's a fucking brilliant city.

This video is also excellent on the Scotland YouTube channel:

On this; I've on occasion had my hair cut by Lee Miller and he's highlighted multiple times that Lennon is a smart kid, looking much further down the line than he ever did as a player, and ultimately; do you want to be Turnbull or do you want to be Hastie is a fairly clear recent-day example. Miller clearly fancies the former, certainly.

So we're all looking forward to him absolutely cantering it in the Serie A?

I know Shaw isnae great but he's got stick for his cameo yesterday and it was not his fault.

He was 100% following orders of not pressing to early, not getting too far forward and other than winning a couple of headers the game literally passed him by.

I think the main issue is that he always lets the game pass him by. He can't hold the ball up to drag us up the pitch, he doesn't offer anything (regardless of opposition) to drag us up the pitch by his work rate.

Do I have a personal vandetta against him? No. Do I think he's a complete waste of a shirt? Absolutely.

  5. We had a good first XI on the park today but everything that came off the bench was fucking rotten. Butcher's looking like he's done for good, SOD doesn't have the legs to play RWB and Oliver Shaw is one of the worst signings we've ever made.

Vale's work rate was a huge part of why we were so successful in the first half to go from that to Shaw who is both terrible at football and a lazy b*****d meant we had nothing that could drag us up the park late on. So we just sat deeper and deeper right at the end. A great idea for a team who, famously, are watertight at the back.

Just chucking this in here as it tangentially relevant to some of the whole "competitiveness"/budget discussion but as @RandomGuy. mentions in their thread that's St Johnstone's accounts posted up on Companies House now.

Having had a quick swatch at their accounts they're listing 161 staff compared to our 222.

Wait til the cheque for the crematorium hits their bank account though.

How many people actually believe Weir will be leaving at the end of March?

The whole investment thing as mentioned is blocking the appointment of a new CEO so where and when does this resolve itself?

f**k knows. So there's questions over the appointment of a CEO before investment, but there's questions as to whether investment would mean they appoint their own CEO.

    Clear as mud.

In fairness, I don't disagree that we've been panicked into bringing him back but in terms of timeline it depends on how long it took the English FA to process Barnsley's appeal.

The English FA are generally quite strict with that sort of thing so I'd be surprised if Barnsley actually Jedi mind-tricked them into Shaw coming back.

Bear in mind they basically told Blackburn to f**k off after there was an "administrative error" in their submission for Duncan McGuire's loan: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/feb/06/mcguire-transfer-collapsed-after-blackburn-pressed-wrong-button-on-website

We announce Shaw was back on 8th February (2 days after that Blackburn appeal) so I guess there's a chance that we've legitimately agreed the deal prior to the close of deadline then sorted out the paperwork - similar to Butcher last season who was announced on 4th February - with the window having closed on 31st January.

Anyway, vaguely related to our Oli Shaw mercy dash I just noticed this on a thread on FPC (it's been a while). It's possible it got lost in all the noise around chucking a 3-0 lead but it seems we had a late bid for Aidan Keena binned on deadline day.

Either way it seems as if Shaw coming back was the most last resort thing going.

I don't think I'm enjoying our drawn out attempt to sign the Sligo Rovers team that papped us out of Europe.

TBF John Boyle was/is a bit a fud, but some former players have told some tales about Gannon.

I work with a guy who is a Port Vale fan who was telling me a number of their players at the time also have said he was a crackpot. To the point where it ended up in a scrap on the team bus with Gannon getting papped off it https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/horsfield-gannon-port-vale-bus-3533637

See if a manager has a falling out with the players & staff at one club, that's kind of understandable. Sometimes these things happen. When it's happened at just about every club they've turned up at it would suggest there's a common denominator.

Besides the unpleasantness this is sort of the problem I have with Paton as well along with the fact that I don't actually think he's particularly suited to the role that he's currently being asked to play but he's a fixture there anyway.

He's not very good at any role in midfield. We've tried him as a 6 where he is miles off it defensively and when we're sticking him as a 10 he always picks the wrong option when in a promising position.

Kind of feels like an AI generated bottom 6 Scottish Football midfielder. Runs about a lot, offers f**k all constructive.
