  1. It looks increasingly like Whyte has pals within Ticketus/Octopus and there is no way they weren't aware of his track record for liquidating companies. Whatever his plan for Rangers, they will be aware of it and through a proxy network of parent companies/subsiduaries will be fully active in the asset grab after the big tax case. Whyte buys Rangers with 24m of Ticketus money. 18 to Lloyds and 6 to Wavetower (either for the purpose of newco Gers or maybe his back pocket) Keeps the club on life support by using Champions League cash until tax case in November. Loses the case and liquidates them. Ticketus/Octopus end up operating Ibrox through clauses and securities triggered by the asset grab - as far as the public are aware the 24m was an unsuccesful attempt to cope with the tax case. Newco start up with no debt, a rented stadium (Ticketus/Octopus) and Whyte sells for a profit/sails off with his 6m. The problem is Ally fucked up Europe and the tribunal was pushed back, forcing Whyte to use the players tax to operate the club. This brought in HMRC and everything comes out in the wash. He fucks off to Monaco with his fingers crossed. Sorry for long post, had to write it down to get me head round it.
  2. Hilarious but unsurprising news. The only twist that could make this funnier would be if Lloyds hadn't received all of their money. Think I would involuntarily empty my tank if that happened. RangersMedia still banging on about minty. MissingThePointChosenFewRSC
  3. Nice one, let me know what you think.

  4. I downloaded it a while back (cos I'm a c**t like that) but it was a shit torrent and I gave up on it.

My sensy senses make me really want to pump (or should I say take out for a meal and treat with respect) Julie Delpy so cheers for reminding me to check it out.

That 'Tape' I mentioned is a Hawkeman - Linklater combo if you're an illegal downloading bastar...

  5. To answer the OP seriously, it would be some shameful sheeeit (to quote the great Clay Davis) if fans didn't mobilise to try and influence this decision if the scenario ever happens. As shown by the OF admin charge debacle, the only way cowards like Petrie will have some pride in themselves is if there's a possibility of losing money. The unified song for Rangers on Saturday thread was a bit of a laugh, but the diddies (plus Celtic) should really act to let the clubs know they wont support the rule book being ripped up and/or the clubs bending over to Rangers. Commit to costing the clubs cash in any way, let whoever communicates between SPL and Sky know that we've stumbled upon vipbox and won't be requiring their services etc. It's proper drop in the ocean stuff and 99% likely to be ignored but I would feel properly penetrated if Hibs helped a club who have cheated football and the country for decades, to survive. They shut shit down in Germany when tickets go up a few euros. Yet we would do nothing to stop our Chaimen selling out to a club who have cheated for decades and are run by a venture capatalist crook. *Clay voice* Sheeeeeit.
  6. Voting no would be an opportunity to show a set of stones, implement a long-term strategy, be ambitious and regain some power from the duopoly old firm. We'll vote yes.
  7. I could have told you that was the gig 6 months ago. Proffessional asset stripper is one word, thief, parasite and c**t are others. Whoever made the point about how we as society focus on benefit scrounging was totally right. As wasteful as it is, it's a drop of pish in the ocean compared to how much we lose from 'legal' tax avoidance. We should let these c***s die. We do all right for our size in terms of 'natural resources' in Scottish football, ie fans, young players etc. It didn't take long for these to fall into Rangers lap and it wont take long to fall out of Rangers lap.
  8. Mark Corrigan: "Sperm is a bit like lending £24 million to Craig Whyte. You can't really ask for it back."

  9. Vodafone operate > 25% of the UK market share. You can get to a stage of being too powerful and wealthy to be touched. Just as Rangers are within the confinements of Scottish football. HMRC do not operate within the confinements of Scottish football. They operate within the confinements of the UK economy, an economy where Rangers and its 50k spectators probably equate to less than 2 or 3% of it's sectors market share. Scottish football is too cowardly / subserviant / unwilling to touch Rangers. The taxman really isn't.
  10. I've been enjoying Rangers stream of bad news as much as anyone, but the course of action to save the club could create the single bleakest moment in Scottish football history for me. I think it's highly likely inevitable that the governing bodies will be in favour of re-adjusting the rule book to save them. The level of vested interest, shared fiscal interests etc is so apparant that there isn't even much point in them behaving in a way which would suggest otherwise. Everyone knows the deal and is too jaded to challenge it. If the clubs themselves are proactive in trying to keep Rangers above them however, then it's the final indicator that the game has reached a point of no return. The clubs who have been cheated, bullied and stolen from for decades, have to vote in majority in order to surrender (no pun) a league position to Rangers. If they actually do this, it officialises what we've tacitly been told for years. That the game is slanted and we diddies are number-making subordinates. Johnston at Killie was delivering the "we need Rangers" routine the other day. Ironic coming from a club who's resources have been pillaged as much as his. The battered wife analogy doesn't do justice to how guillable, scared and low in self-esteem guys like Johnston (and Petrie to be balanced) are. That's all hypothetical anyway, to assume that Rangers would fold. What isn't clear is whether Rangers have already lost the tax case. If they haven't and this is just the pre-emptive beginning of the Govan Scrapheap Challenge, then it's adios to the club as we know it. I've always been of the opinion that Whyte is in full control of proceedings, and cares not one iota about the longtime welfare of Rangers. I'm starting to think now that he is maybe a little over his head. The backtracking, constant change of stories and the lowest common denominator victim complex strategy, is making me think that he might be making it up as he goes along He is gambling but his stake is only £1. Nothing to lose but a lot to gain. Mask: Slipping
  11. The Assasination of Richard Nixon - Found myself really engrossed in this. Sean Penn plays a 'good man' (debateable) who is marginalised and completely demoralised by society. So much so that he basically starts losing his shit. Within about 10 minutes I was already drawing comparisons with films like Taxi Driver and King of Comedy. Maybe throw in a bit of Jack Lemmon in Glengarry Glen Ross. Although those are all classics, I found this equally if not more depressing to watch. Penn's character is essentially right about many things but his behaviour is so completely wrong, that you feel almost equal resentment and sympathy for the people around him. Bit of a mindfuck, and would be interested to see what other people who've seen it thought. On iplayer right now. 8.5/10 Moneyball - Came into it just hoping for a good sports story movie but it was better than that. Pitt is a total marmite actor for me, either find his performances excellent or just unwatchable. This was definately the former. The movie is so focused on Beane that he's the only character with much in the way of depth but it worked all the same. 8/10
  12. I'm just in the door from a fine Edinburgh establishment by the name of the Phoenix. It's USP is definately it's jukey but table dancing? Been drinking there since I was about 16 and have quite a rapport with its famous bald propriator but didn't know it's sordid history. Or am I thinking of a different place?
  13. Legend In the history class from the year before, the teacher tried the catching out the student who clearly isn't listening with a question technique. To her shock (as well as everyone else) he fired back with the correct answer. The question was something to do with the population increase in UK, and one of the answers was something to do with contraception. The lad was absolutely delighted with himself and from then on excitedly stuck his hand up to answer every question. Teacher: Can anyone explain what laissez-faire is? Mate: Is it contraception? Teacher: What caused the Irish potato famine? Mate: It was Contraception? Etc, etc. The teacher thought he was taking the piss, but he genuinely wasn't. He also enraged our media studies teacher after a year of critically examining The Matrix by constantly referencing the main character 'Neil' in his nab.
  14. One of my best mates inadvertantly 'faked his own death.' He was out during the week and had to get his stomach pumped. When some dunst from the year below asked whether he had got through it, somebody sarcastically quipped "naw he's dead." This started a horrific chain of Chinese whispers which led to exams cancelled, emergency councillors etc. There was a special assembly called so the lad could apologise to everyone, which provided the worst 'this would be a bad time to laugh, therefore I really, really want to laugh' moment.
  15. I'm only 22 but my tolerance for alcohol is diminishing at a startling rate. Was always able to drink loads compared to most people but overnight I'm becoming a total lightweight. Had a half bottle of buckfast and about 5 pints last night and I'm rough as f**k at 4pm. Would've drunk more than that before going out a few years ago. Is this normal or do I have some sort of degenerative disease?
  16. At Close Range (1986) - Definately one I would have put in the underrated films thread. Great piece of work. Teenage love story set against another story of a young Sean Penn becoming reacquainted with his criminal (and generally complete c**t) of a dad, Chrisstopher Walken. Apart from being a bit 80's in places it's shot brilliantly and is just an all round great film IMO. 8/10 The story behind this scene is great too:
  17. That's exactly what we did. Joints and cheap cider up at Edinburgh Uni like a bunch of true pimps.

I feel to get inside the mind of that enigmatic auteur you would have to take copious amounts of heroin over many decades, but I'm not taking that leap yet.

  18. Huhuhu...forget about it, I still love you Lisa.

If it's coming back to the festival you have to go and see it man. Best cinematic experience of my life bar none.

  19. I'm tired, I'm wasted..I LOVE YOU DARLING.

Anyway, how is your sex life?

  20. I'll agree with whoever it was that said Handmade Burger is decent. Went there recently and it was tidy. Only problem is they are part of the recent trend of cunting about with their dishes. Everything on little bowls and plates. Also ate off a chopping board in Frankensteins the other day too. What the f**k is wrong with a big plate with your food on it? Yep. Do not understand Nandos. It's so average in every way, making it impossible to hate or love for me. Yet somehow they are massively popular. The Coldplay of fast food.
  21. Had a Hamilton/Lewis double. That was an interesting evening You could write a dissertation on the importance of momentum in sport, just from tonights games. Amazing stuff.
  22. Might have to go back to the same pub with everyone I can muster, get absolutely rat-arsed and start comparing at full volume the tightness, hairyness and texture of every fanny I've ever encountered. Just as a social experiment like.
  23. Was flicking between the music channels and SSN, making some unusual discoveries along the way. Loves black people Some his best friends are black people
