  1. Delaying the inevitable. Semi-pro football teams require income to meet their costs, particularly wages. Zero or reduced : crowds, sponshirship, pie hut revenue, social club income, hospitality, half time draws etc. will put enormous pressure on that. Starting soon will do more harm than good and thats before factoring in the increase in covid and restrictions to players it brings. If we are lucky we might get to start about April and cram some sort of season in.
  2. Frye has a history of not hanging around too long at any club he's been at. Parks away to play for his best mate. McAusland a Cumnock boy who has been tapped up since he's been at the Glens. So I would say it's just a turnover of players. I heard there were a few more on Cumnock's shopping list playing at New Cumnock that knocked them back. Talking to someone today and there's 4 new players signed for Glenafton with talks advanced with a few others that will please the punters so no there's nothing wrong at Glenafton, thanks for your concern though.
  3. The New WOS League any idea on what the composition of the leagues are likely to be? Names out the hat? Seeded? Geographical?
  4. But they don't all play in the Scottish Cup so your argument is out the window.
  5. Tried it before and Gumtree with no joy, nothing ventured.
  6. Something like " I support a team in the Scottish Pyramid East Region 1st Division Conference B, " The sponsors will be tripping over themselves in the queue for that opportunity.
  7. Dennis G Series Cassette Mower In Very good condition, seldom used. Cost new was £6500 However if you are interested please call 07882 136734 and speak to John. The mower is in New Cumnock, SW Scotland Postcode KA18, and can be viewed on request if needed.
  8. Is that 17 teams that are licensed with floodlights or will some of them lose their license at a later date? The 70k or thereabouts for floodlights is the barrier for most teams.
  9. I noticed Glenafton have something similar, 7 home 2 away in similar period. Not the cleverest move. Don't see why league fixtures are not alternate weeks about home and away with the very odd 2 in a row.
  10. Glenafton do, and as said its a one off usually, as the league we play in is regionalised. Good practise = more chance of qualifying = more income no that difficult the figures work.
  11. No more barriers than prieviously so just ignore the floodlights requirements yes or no? You lot are in denial if you say 40 - 60 k floodlights are not a barrier to entry. Loads of junior clubs in the top west league and below would have been applying for licensing within a very short period before this change, that will all be on hold now. One of the biggest benefits has been kicked into turf for a lot of teams.
  12. Didn't take long for the barriers to go up to stop Junior Clubs entering the Scottish Cup especially with the major exodus planned for next season. Last season on here entry to the Scottish was being touted as a major attraction now its an "only". Plastic pitch teams welcome, the rest of you find 40k and hope you get a grant for 20k. What are the rest of the benefits can someone remind me again.
  13. Should've added the lower levels I'll give you that. Day of mourning in the east if this thread was binned
  14. You are full of fun tonight, I wouldn't normally waste this much time on you but care to explain why teams at pyramid level 5 being unable to field a team and also a team who finished 5th in level 6 being knocked out by an amateur ( See I'm learning) outfit is not embarassing and detrimental to the credibility of the leagues? Take the blinkers off and consider the facts.
  15. The spelling polis are oot, glad to see you have your priorities sorted numbnut.
  16. Its a level 5 team we are talking about, cannot even field a team, makes the set up seem pretty shambolic and amatuerish to me. Oh and talking about amatuers did an Ayrshire amatuer outfit not beat a level 6 team in the "big Scottish". The esteemed pyramids credibility has taken a bit of a kicking this weekend.
  17. Says the poster that called others Filth for red dotting him
  18. Whatiffery, I'm asking about why the pyramid leagues supposedly have a monopoly on those benefits DRS quoted. Yes its a shambles there's no sponsor, my team won it last year, but sponsor or not it is still the highlight of the non-league season by a country mile as will be illustrated by the attendance on sunday and the mass community involvement for the two teams involved. The clubs are to blame as much as anyone for part of the fiasco with their insistance on playing too many cups and at the wrong time of the year. Personally I am not against the pyramid with a few amendments to be added, but not under the impression it is the be all and end all to non league clubs.
  19. Can you explain why you consider these benefits to be solely in the domain of "pyramid" leagues? EG Grounds, where I live in East Ayrshire there has been massive improvements to all three of the bigger teams grounds through grants sponsorship and community involvement, I'm pretty sure those three would pass the minimum ground licensing requirements. Probably a few more grants available from SFA I give you that though they will be diluted probably. Youth development leagues, I thought this was the domain of the SYFA? Again local teams in EA have youth teams up to 19's competing in leagues administered by the SYFA, theres also a 21's league in Glasgow area, so no change there. Fixtures, yes that needs improvement but hardly insurmountable, hopefully to be improved next season with new fixture secretary and league / cup set up but will always be at the mercy of the weather. I don't understand how moving leagues creates more community involvement, I doubt it very much in most instances. Progression up and down, very few and I mean a handful at most of current Junior teams have the capacity to move beyond the lowland league so your up and down is probably pretty similar to the pyramid that exists within the junior leagues at the moment.. Becoming licensed, yes that is not available in the SJFA neither is The big cup involvement although cannot see many Junior clubs making big money from that when the elite have struggled bar on a few occasions. "So much more" feel free to provide details it would be appreciated. So in summary yes there are a few benefits but to say those you listed are sole property of pyramd leagues is totally inaccurate in my experience, maybe clubs in different ares o things differently.
  20. So you think 4 or 5 of the new EOS ex Junior teams out of say 15 teams can get licensed quickly but in the West out of about 80 teams many of whom have arguably better facilities and infrastucture wouldn't be able to get 20 licensed quickly? Looke like you are just twisting things to suit your own agenda......
  21. You could get twenty licensed clubs from the West Juniors within a year no problem so long as the adminstrators can cope. All it needs is for licensing to be opened to Junior Clubs this season and taking effect from the amalgamation 2019/20. There's your level 5 Lowland League West. References about 10 years for there to be enough licensed clubs for another lowland league complete and utter nonsense.
  22. Please tell me you are taking the michael surely one individual cannot be .............. Import the whole of the English premier into level 6 and it will take more than 6 years for them all to move up to lowland league.
  23. The clubs answered the question "Do you want to join the CURRENT pyramid?" To answer Yes would mean you are happy joining the SOS or EOS leagues as that is the current pyramid, as many in the West leagues have said that is not an option they would consider. Had the questionnaire been worded differently and gave a choice of the juniors moving en masse then I think the 55% figure would have been much higher. In other words poor questionnaire.
  24. Another blazer lol definitely not, just a supporter of the treble winners last season. Ask Isobel ;-) I don't care what they have done for years, I want what is best going forward and I don't expect grudges to be held when dealing with a supposed high level of professionalism that the SFA should display. The SFA are ultimately responsible for the pyramid they need to do what is best going forward and not be swayed by " TJ said the pyramid was SH£%E years ago we're no letting his teams in" At the moment the East looks pretty chaotic from where I am sitting you have two leagues of similar standard in the broad terms and they don't know how many teams they will have next season, with a knock on effect to other leagues. Superb. Hopefully works out ok but needs some big decisions from the top to bring some stability. No backtracking involved just bit more detail provided as you obviously didn't grasp it first time around. I await the EGM and developments with interest. . .
