  1. Not sure if he would be able to score that type of goal again - so much slower now. I think it is the right decision as well as he isn't a first team regular now and for me it isn't a bad move for him with a 3-year deal, pay-rise and playing every week. Expect a new signing in the next day or two but if not then I'll panic like other dandies
  2. I hate the amount of bed wetting going on with lack of signings and don't want to be negative but... The Motherwell game Ball played right back but the next 5 games he played central midfield protecting the back 4 and did a fine job. I kind of look at this rumour and think it maybe true about Gleeson being out for a long time although if it isn't then I don't get why we our signing a 4th Central midfielder in this transfer window when I think other positions are more critical. Hopefully we will have a few signings in before the Burnley game but if not then there is still about 45 days left until the transfer windows closes which is where I judge then if the transfer window was successful.
  3. I think he is worth that going with the silly transfer figures down south. We do put our game down but when you have a player that has signed a long contract and now a regular International player who was captain for one of the games then his value should be much higher - imagine the price of him if he played in England! At the DNA meeting that someone asked Shinnie who was the best player he has played with - everyone expected either Maddison or Christie but Shinnie said it was Kenny McLean which the management team agreed with him. Funny enough Shinnie also mentioned Ryan Jack was a fantastic player in a different type of role but that didn't get a good response! The Manager went on to speak about how good our midfield was 2 seasons ago and its a shame our budget couldn't have kept them at the club.
  4. Shocking pitch worse than Hamiltons. The amount of rubber pellets come up ever time passing of the ball. There was rumours that Aberdeen reserves using that stadium but can’t see it going with how poor that pitch is
  5. Not how I saw it, didn’t think challenge was bad and neither did the ref as he played on. Hope everything is ok with our former player Jordan Brown.
  6. That is it confirmed that Danny Rogers has went to St Mirren on a season loan. Must be taking someone else in
  7. Went along to the DNA thing and it was ok - bit rushed due to World Cup DNA has over 5800 members which after VAT will give the manager 600k to add to budget. The other main news is there will only be two more signings - one a defender as very short in those positions
  8. Trying to think of the last person that was not either Irish or UK wise that was really successful at the club not that many - Heikkinen/Kjaer/Bisconti/Arnason - any others? I suppose looking at the lower league in England has got us Rooney/Lewis/Logan and obviously McGinn was on loan down there before we signed him.
  9. I went along tonight, although results/performance are not that important as it is about fitness. That said the biggest problem isn’t the strikers it was creating a chance apart from the goal which was a nice passing move we created nothing - we are serious lacking any width in the team. Dreadful typical preseason game but on a positive note I felt Devlin looked solid at the back.
  10. I would take Christie for 400k as although he had a poor time after Christmas he is still only 23 and think he will only get better.
  11. https://www.afc.co.uk/2018/07/03/new-training-facilities-becomes-a-reality/ Aberdeen Football Club’s Dream of New Training Facilities Becomes Reality as Construction Kicks off at Kingsford Aberdeen Football Club today (Tuesday, July 3) celebrated breaking ground on phase one of its ambitious plans for a multimillion pound Community Hub, Professional Training Campus and Youth Development Academy. Construction of the new facilities got underway today when AFC manager, Derek McInnes, AFC Community Trust chief executive, Ally Prockter, and Lord Provost, Barney Crockett put the first spades in the ground. The first phase of the £50million development will include the construction of the training pavilion, groundsman’s accommodation, three professional training pitches, two 3G pitches and two grass pitches, the latter being mainly for use by Aberdeen Football Club’s Community Trust. Aberdeen-based McIntosh Plant Hire now has the greenlight to begin the initial earthworks and ground remediation in preparation for the building works, which are due to commence in October 2018. The community sports hub and football training facilities will be completed in Summer 2019. AFC Manager Derek McInnes said: “This is a hugely significant milestone for the Club as we embark on building long-awaited, best-in-class training facilities. “Since I took on the role of manager at AFC I have been campaigning for better facilities so there’s a huge sense of relief and excitement today to see work beginning on-site. “Dedicated, purpose-built facilities, adjacent to our new stadium, will be a major boost for the players and the coaching staff. They will help us attract and retain talent as well as providing an excellent base for community engagement and footballing excellence in the north of Scotland that will inspire future generations.” With AFC now the official owner of the 25-hectare site at Kingsford, the club will begin consulting with Westhill and Elrick and Kingswells Community Councils and representatives from local sports groups to discuss the best use of the facilities. The wider community benefits at the new complex will be delivered by the award-winning Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT), the club’s official charity partner established in 2014 to provide support and the opportunity to change lives for the better throughout the North-east. The charity engages with more than 17,000 participants each year across 60 programmes and initiatives, with volunteers from the organisation delivering more than 5,000 hours of free community support in their spare time. Ally Prockter, Aberdeen FC Community Trust’s chief executive said: “These purpose-built facilities will help us support more individuals in communities and reach even more participants of all ages and from different walks of life. “We currently don’t have sufficient space at Pittodrie or any kind of sporting or classroom facilities to call our own, which can make delivering many projects extremely challenging. “ We are extremely excited about moving to this inspirational setting to continue our work and respond to the needs of more individuals in communities, not just in the city but across the entire North-east.” The total value of phase one is around £10million and the club has promised to appoint local firms wherever possible. Contracts are due to be agreed in the coming weeks for work packages which include roads and sewers, construction of the pavilion and groundsman’s accommodation, formation of the pitches as well as all electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation work.
  12. I've booked up the AberDNA Season Launch Q&A event! Can't wait for some of the questions ha ha I've been to two of these Black and Gold Q&A the first one was very good and the next was dreadful - haven't been for a few years now so will see how this goes
  13. Dave Cormack donated £1 million to our football budget last season so with AberDNA sales i would expect budget to be the same this season
  14. Nope our central midfield was Hughes and Rae - the first thing our new manager did was look at them for 5 game and get rid of both of them replacing them with Robson and Flood.
  15. At least you was a little positive near the end lol - if you are going to add a few loan duff signings then better add Maddison, Hector, Ward to the good signings. I would also add Robson and Flood to the good signings. There is also plenty donkeys we have signed too which you haven't mentioned Wylde, Tate, Weaver, Monakana, McLaughlin, Burns. The manager is maybe hit and miss on the transfer market but we can't complain about the league position in the last 5 seasons while the top players we are going for the standard of player is a lot better than it was before he come in.
  16. I think the two most important positions to sign players is a wide player as the lack of creativity in the midfield was obvious last season and also a left sided full back although it would be a bonus if he cover the right hand side.
  17. Sad to see George Yule leave as since he has arrived the club off the field went from strength to strength while on the field after a season the board got the decision spot on with the manager and the last 5 years have been successful. The biggest success though goes with the charity of the Community Trust - what a major success that he has help created. The next person in has a hard act to follow.
  18. Bet there is a few people in the next few days subscribing to the AberDNA. We took 6K to Atletico Madrid and 5k to Bayern Munich but this is Burnley so I don't expect the demand to be as high as those even though logistically easier to get to. It wouldn't surprise me if non-season ticket holders will be able to get tickets but I do think those without tickets won't travel as they will be able to cancel hotels and not take the car as planned. The Ticket office made a major error with the points for Cyprus last season thinking the demand wouldn't be high so I hope they don't make that mistake again as generally the points system works perfect in the last 3 seasons. I think the people that tend to moan about the points system is those that used to go all the time but don't go anymore.
  19. I was told it was Grey (Granite) kit a few weeks ago and the players love it - not sure about it with the photo but maybe better seeing it in the club shop . Although the blue was quite nice last season Aberdeen should never have blue on the kit.
  20. The media looks at twitter and forums like this for information and when it is quiet then they sometimes post info like that - it is a rumour at the moment although it could be true. Who could forgot the time when Sky Sports news announced we are looking to sign Yerdas Selzavon
  21. Strange that Hamilton game is all Wednesday nights while 2 out of the 3 Rangers games are Wednesday night bit like last season!
  22. Pakistan win by 48 runs but good to see Scotland get over 150
  23. When I read about him signing I was angry to start with but then wanted to look at the positives and thought he is better than Nicky Maynard!!! Most Rangers games i watched last season I thought he looked decent so if his legs hasn't completely gone then might do a job for us bit like Brewster did many years ago. I thought Rooney looked very slow last season but since losing Jonny Hayes we hardly had much width and didn't creating chances for our Strikers.
