Think I'm skipping WL this weekend. Looking at predictions of the La Liga TOTS, it's basically get Messi or bust, can't see any other players I'd want that I wouldn't have to switch my team around for. I'll take a break and jump back in next week, or more likely when Ligue 1 starts. I'm going baws oot for that one. I've been churning through a few today, probably spent around 100k and lost quite a bit of weight from my club. Didn't get a huge amount from the tradeables, but currently trimming the transfer list and just got Vardy from the upgrades. Not the ideal, but it'll certainly do. Managed to pack two more TOTS last night, but of course they were duplicates of TAA and Traore. Threw a lot into a go of the Mid Icon SBC and got Butragueno, which apparently is quite a win. Can't really fit him but he'll be worth a shot.

I'm heading into dangerous(ly stupid) territory tonight. After this week, I really want some of those top PL TOTS cards. So I'm going to be raising 800k by selling off Tevez and Salvio, and then I'm (stupidly) going after SBCs. Can probably complete a fair few without too much outlay with the players I've got, and hopefully pulling in enough players through packs to keep it rolling. And I'm going to (stupidly) sink a lot of coins into this. I'll keep a note of things, because I'm a jakey sad act, and maybe someone will find my quest interesting.

I'm only really using Belotti during Serie A objectives, but if I had a sniff of a team from there full time, he'd absolutely be in it. He's brilliant. To be fair, he always has been the past few editions, something about his make-up that always seems to agree with the engine.

After putting in my TOTS plunder this week, and looking forward to getting Dalglish, I've got the below starting 11 (that's actually a 10). I've got players I could slot in there, and I was just going to pick up Kovacic for a "cheap" option. But given I'm going to sell Tevez and Salvio with all my Argentinians dropping out, I'll have about 1.4m to fill that final spot. Any ideas? I'd like someone vaguely defensively minded, as I'll probably switch formations to have a combination of Trezeguet/Dalglish/Traore/Neymar up front, leaving Henderson and one other to shield. Anyone used any top-tier icons that might be worth a look? I'm thinking Zanetti PIM, or go baws out and have Rivaldo in a ludicrously unbalanced side. Probably only going to have them for the weekend, bu we'll see.

Rivals rewards out. Took untradeable as always in the hope I got enough PL players for another run round that SBC. I didn't, but did get 97 Alisson in one pack, which is nice. Heard he's pretty cack, but I'll give him a go.

What he's done for Make-a-Wish is absolutely great (and it must be brilliant to be in a job where just something small can make anyone's life that much better to be honest) but somethings always seemed...off about Cena. Nothing sinister or anything, he just seems like a bit of a weirdo. If it comes out that he's some kind of android or alien who came here wearing human skin, I wouldn't be surprised. Although to be honest, if he is missing something in the emotion stakes, maybe that's good, because meeting 651 kids who you know are going to pass away (make a wish is the terminal ones, right? Or can it be others) must be utterly fucking draining. I'd struggle to get through one without breaking into pieces.

Rewards is certainly going to be interesting tomorrow. Any kind of PL pick would be nice, but I suspect the hype is going to lead to a lot of people finding some Saudis at the bottom of their Christmas tree tomorrow morning. I'm hoping for Kovacic, in the hope that EA decide to spite me by giving me someone better. He'd fit perfectly into the team I'm planning. I mean, so would De Bruyne, but, you know. Unless you have a PL team, or you want to build a PL team, I'd steer clear. There's a lot of high-rated players in there, but I'm not convinced they'll be that good.

Thing is, it is a bit of a piss-take, but it's hard to really grudge EA doing it. They know people will be falling all over themselves to do this, so they could have made it 2 88s for all the difference it made. People will rage, but ultimately, people will do it. EA are c***s at times, but it's hard not to admire their shit-eating audacity.

Friends were lost. Heroes even. But will it be worth it? Will I have just thrown away a Mid Icon, a couple of hard-won objective players, and some high-rated fodder for Dean Fucking Henderson? Mayos guide me...

Did five of those PL upgrades, and... Henderson TOTS in pack 2,and Alexander Arnold in pack 5. My only regret is that I'm completely out of players to chase the dragon further.

Gold 3 achieved, and with 4 games to go. I think that's actually my best ever result oddly, even after what seemed like the worst start. I could go for gold 2,but f**k that, look at the time. I know I'll lose the first, win 2,then lose the decider anyway. And on my weekend guests, they finish with the following - both with 26 games, Tevez got 35 goals and 23 assists, and Salvio got 19 goals and 13 assists. 90 goal contributions between the two of them, in a weekend league where my midfielders really stepped up too. I was planning on selling them immediately then maybe buying back if I was going to play next weekend...but...well,i just can't, can I?

That's 3 wins in 3 tonight, 3-0 (rq), 4-2 and 3-0 (rq). I've no idea what's going on. Up to 9 now, and after that terrible Friday I'm now 6 in 8. Just the 41 goal contributions for Tevez and 24 for Salvio now in 18 games. Tevez is just unbelievable. And another one! Rage quit at 1-0.

Gone from 3 in 10 to 6 in 15,so getting better. It's still utterly miserable though. Usual race to 14 now on, need 8 wins tomorrow and to be honest that seems unlikely. I have no idea what it is about this weekend, but it's been unforgiving. I know it's largely me being shite, mind.

Came back for a few games tonight. First one, I had to pause to go and check something. Came back to the guy in the middle of his first of 3 consecutive 30 second pauses. Can only assume he had a heads gone over my pause and thought I was at it. How fucking feeble minded do you have to be... Beat me 6-3 anyway. Yet anothrr missed opportunity where my defenders wander around blowing raspberries making it impossible to get back into it. This is just brutal.

I fucking hate this game. 3 out of 10 and I'm done for the night. Was 4-1 up against someone who seemed to have no idea how to play and kept rushing his keeper at every opportunity. Of course, he got it back to 4-3 and threatened to steal it at the end. My fault of course, but...just fucking brutal. One shining light is Big Charles Tevez alongside "you've already got Messi at home" Salvio. Brought them both in for the WL, so they've played ten games each. 34 goal contributions between them. Tevez in particular is utterly relentless. If I wasn't so shite he'd be knocking them in from 50 yards every game.

Only had a couple of parts of the Premier League SBC left, so thought I'd get it to the edge and leave it for the extra option to get added, otherwise it'd be extortionate. On a work zoom call, just adding a few of the last Sheffield United players. Don't submit it. Just a couple of keepers now. Don't submit it. Awfully expensive these guys. Don't submit it. I use him too. Incredible wee player considering the small outlay to get him. I've never seen a full-back so comfortable in chasing down even the fastest wingers. He's a monster

Cole actually a) having shots and b) being quite good at them did a lot for him in a side that ultimately refused to take anything resembling a shot. But it's hard to remember him doing anything else.

I think I'll go for Option C to be honest. Had either of those been Scottish, I'd be right in amongst it, but I can't think of any situation where I'd actually use either Hagi or Elyounoussi. Seems like any kind of SPFL objective isn't going to happen (there was one a while back mixed with championship, wasn't there?) so the only reason to get them would be making an actual SPFL side, which I doubt I'll get round to. The American guy at least will be useful for Swaps I'm skipping it. Only need 11 of the 12 to get Dalglish, and this is easily the hardest one. I tried building a team, but it looked so miserable that I just can't bring myself to. The next worst would be WL and hopefully I can knock that out this weekend. 7 tokens to go.

Enjoy the lower divisions, you will likely never get out of them. I've been bobbing between 7 and 9 the entire game, because every time I get up a head of steam and start climbing, I can never get enough games with people around my level to keep it going. And given there's now a promo and objectives almost every week, you get plenty of people dropping to stomp all over weaker players. Just embrace it, man. Because they know plebs like us will do it anyway and take cards and coins out of the game, basically. If they upped the rating, you'd probably be looking at an 86 squad for it, and would then probably just get an 84 anyway. It's not so bad - getting such a shite option has made sure I never do any again. Had I got an 83 or something, I might have been tempted.
