That season from Alonso was ridiculous, especially when you compare it to what Massa was doing in the other car. IIRC it was something like 14 podiums to 1? A guy that was one corner from WDC being destroyed like that was crazy. As for today, looked a fairly boring affair from the highlights until Checo fell asleep. Can't believe that 6 races ago their was genuine talk that he was WDC contender. Sainz looked good again, I think the first win (and lack of gravel at PR) has pushed him on. I think he'd have won comfortably without his penalties.

The problem for me is, due to the women not getting a proper shake for a long time, is the depth of talent in the womens division is still lacking. The top ladies are as good as the top men, but it drops of quickly. Lynch and Asuka are a mile above the others in that match, that said Liv has definitely got better over the last year so hopefully she can push on.

Not sure if I made this up, but every lap he done in Q1/Q2 Gasly seemed to flash up purple in sector 1 then be absolutely miles off the pace by the end of the lap. Did he find a short cut, or am I wrong in thinking purple is fastest in a specific sector? I had watched FP3 and noticed the Mercedes was a lot closer to RB/Ferrari, turns out they just waited to quali to remove the sandbags.

Of course he should be judged with Griffiths. If he wants/is allowed to blow the budget for 2, maybe 3 decent players at this level on a Hail Mary, that's has to be on him? And in the (very) unlikely scenario Griffiths loses a couple of stone this week then fires us to the Championship, he should be able to take the credit for it.

I was thinking the Brock/Roman/Lashley unification could possibly be seen as a route of moving back to one set of belts due to how stretched the rosters are. Admittedly that means another pair of titles need unified and there doesn't seem to be any move towards that. Even though on the tag team side of things Raw has about 6 teams and Smackdown 3 or 4? No need for 2 sets of belts for a dozen total pairings. If it wasn't for the US/Intercont. titles it'd be easy enough to merge brands again, especially if they went AEW and threw in a womens midcard title to pad it out.

This is possibly the wildest part of it all for me. Given where we are, we aren't getting promoted with or without DGW this season. And given his age we might get one effective season out him next year then find out at 34/35 he can't cut it in the Championship. If the board/management genuinely think thats worth obliterating any remaining fan goodwill then feck me... Any manager worth their salt should be capable of finding a 20 goal striker for this level, on the budget we operate.
