CLYDE FC season 16/17 Thread

Interesting the comments on the keeper, absolutly agree that the lad was fantastic, to be honest he made saves that a good goalkeeper makes. Please don't think I am taking anything away from his performance well deserved man of the match. It's just frustrating that many of us have been stating the obvious about Gibson and the fact that a decent keeper wins you points as well as distilling confidence throughout the team. Fingers crossed that the young lad continues to prove that he is as good as he looked yesterday it will make a huge difference to the last few months of he season. -

Very decent last night and enjoyable, if I ignore the palpitations of the last 10 mins of course! Not even going to discuss Gibson's contribution. Credit of course to Gormley who absolutely turned up last night, also thought McNeil and McLaughlin had a terrific games. Wanted to mention Jordan McMillan however who looked really solid in the middle of the park, no coincidence that McLaughlin had such a good game, first in a long time, with the security McMillan offered. Only his 3rd game in such a long time and I think he will get better and better the more he plays. Not sure if anyone is showing any interest in him but would be a fantastic addition if we could get him till the end of the season. (Just seen he is staying..great news) Also wonder if BF can or will go down the route of emergency loan in goals given Gibson situation for next round. -

Am I the only one who thinks that Perry, outwith his initial couple of games, has actually been pretty poor to the detriment of Junior? -

Well given the players he signed in comparison to the rest of the league I would assume you paid pretty decent money. Players don't normally drop down a couple of divisions for nothing. Given your local knowledge, I'll take your word that he didn't, so Hartley is in fact a football management genius considering what Alloa achieved. -

100% agree that any appointment has to be one with track record of getting a team stabilised and a McCall, Gus etc would be a God send, never happen of course due to finance, lack of direction etc and of course due to the fact Barry won't / can't get sacked. What is Maitland up to nowadays? Or dare I say Paul Martin Only comment on the Hartley and his first job at Alloa, he was given relative fortunes there. -

My point would be that good keeper would possibly have rescued McNeil and Perry. Flynn on bench again, Barry really does not fancy him does he? -

Good news on keeper, I've given opinion on Gibson a few times so no point in going over it, needless to say if the new lad is decent then defence will have improved immediately. -

Can we please get someone who is actually a regular starter for their previous team; is fit, not suspended and remains injury free for at least 10 games. Sorry bit too much to ask for I suppose. -

Tiffony does have good ability but seemed to find it difficult to find space even at this level, perhaps we couldn't get the ball to him quickly enough to be fair. Not the bravest but looks like given a chance could be a decent player, best of luck to him. -

Aye well on reflection and a few halves! No doubt I'll be there next year, but today was so disappointing and on the back of this Month. However being in the presence of mixed Sellic and Sevco fans tonight at a New Years bash I have had a bit of a re think. What a bunch of zoomers and they are my friends. This is obviously some kind of addiction! -

I will see this season out; but honestly can't see me putting myself through this yet again next year........that is over 50 years man and boy looking like my time is almost up. I have never publicly stated this before but last two weeks in particular have done for me. -
Well that would be me finished with it after 50 years of watching, we are pish and have been for a fair bit of that time, but if this happens then SFA have managed to finally chase me away......well done, bunch of patronising self interested old firm obsessed clowns! I said this would happen when the youth teams were parachuted into the Diddy cup and looks like plan team B will be next! No thanks

Not sure what the Issues are exactly but something needs to be addressed very quickly, at the very least we should be able to scrape a draw in the last two weeks, it's just not good enough. Very similar to last year blowing it big time against teams in relegation battle. I would have to question the attitude, concentration and game management from so called experienced players. Very disappointing to say the least. -

Was explained briefly that due to only having to open one gate and I would imagine less Stewarding required for smaller enclosed area and relively few fans. -

On the stand behind the goal. They also said that opening this for away fans would save on costs.. would seem a no brainer.( And no; it wasn't me who asked if home support could use it!!) -

I do agree about Flynn, I think he is a really good player, he is the first we have had since Bryson who can make runs from deep (Not saying he is at Bryson's level). But if you watch him he is always making himself available and is in the box in virtually every goal we have scored this year. -

Only luck Barry has just now is bad luck; just typical. Two probably top earners at the club (If we include Lowden) so not too likely we could afford any replacement even on loan. Don't know how it works; do we insure against such a circumstance to cover wages? probably not as premium would be pretty steep. Really disappointing to say the least, especially so very early in the season, its as if we have not really had him or Lowden. Long season ahead now I suspect. Still more than decent players here but very small squad indeed and its only just September. -

Wee bit conserned given the assessment of fans from Raith Rvers in particular who seem not to rate him at all and from performances with Sevco. Have to give him a chance, don't have much choice but have to admit I am a bit disappointed. Certainly still a small squad and very little quality on the bench. Just have to hope we continue to score at the other end and main guys stay fit and free from suspension. -
No, but he was some player when I last saw him at Broadwood some time ago

Agreed on JP big disappointment; was a major loss in play off in particular, may have been the difference such was his influence in the later stages of last season before his injury. -
