I take it Jim and Gerry will be taking training as of tomorrow, I would also expect a number of new faces to be in there trying to get signed up. Who if any from those that were released by Dunfermline would we take?

Annan bring in Black « backall articles » Thursday 27th June 2013 Annan have signed defender Steven Black from First Division neighbours Queen of the South with Galabank boss Jim Chapman looking for the 21 year old to build on a loan spell with the Black and Gold’s last season. Black has been with the Doonhamers for 10 years since joining them as an 11 year old and he made his first team debut in a 4–1 win over Stirling Albion in March 2011 and he went on to make over 20 appearances including a substitute’s role in April’s Ramsdens Cup Final win over Partick Thistle. Chapman said: “We had Steven for a short time last season and we know that he has the quality and hunger that will add value to our squad. He was not quite match-fit when he was here before as he had not played much football but with a good pre-season behind him I am sure he will grow into a really good player here.”

I would expect all those mentioned would be in Johnston'e thoughts. You trying to get in Charlie's good books Mr X?

Any news on keepers being in at pre-season training? Lee had a couple of fantastic seasons with us and I don't think there will be many of his calibre looking for clubs.

So is anyone going to give us an update on last night's proceedings at the Cairndale and did anyone ask Allan Johnston what he was going to do?

Will things be any clearer tonight after AJ has met with the squad, had their first day of pre-season training and then had his meeting with Mr Kilmarnock? That's presuming AJ attends the training session!

Whatever Allan's decision is I hope it is made very quickly so we can put things to bed and move on. We have a lot of momentum and confidence must still be high right now, it would be a shame to lose this.

If AJ and Sandy go don't you think they'll take Andy Leishman and Crawford Quinn with them. They seem to have all worked well as a coaching team so far? We could end up looking for a full team of backroom staff.

If AJ were to move to Killie it would be one almighty smack in the ballocks before the season has even started. He has moulded us into the team we are right now and I would expect most of those signed so far did so because they wanted the journey to continue under his guidance.

I'm not saying Holt won’t be left back and I actually think he picked his game up when Fitzpatrick appeared. I was more implying we need another natural left footer for competition as with other areas of the park. Mitchell, although he can do a job isn't half the player when he's moved to left back.

Keeper, left back and another striker and we'll just about be there. I'm sure there will be dozens to choose from come pre season training.

Well he certainly wont get as much game time.

A proven 1st division goal scorer in place of a one season wonder. Nah I can't see the reason for excitement either!

I would like to see both Higgins and Robinson signed up ASAP.

What about Black and what's happened to McShane ?

If it turns out to be true and he does sign for that second division team I don't think you'll need to worry that much about seeing him on the score sheet that often. The competition will be fierce for places and I don't expect him to play that regularly or score that often.

See where you're coming from with the first sentence, but I think he'll really struggle with the latter!
