American sprinter Tori Bowie, a three-time Olympic medallist and former 100m world champion, has died aged 32.

Bowie won 4x100m relay gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics, plus 100m silver and 200m bronze.

The following year, she won the global title over 100m at the World Championships in London, as well as relay gold.

Well that's a knife to the heart.

page hadn't refreshed and I thought I was being quite the comedian coming up with a variation on that one...only to see your post when the pages updated a minute later!!  Forgot how fucking quick you have to be on this thread.  :)

It was the first 'witty quip' that came to my mind too but reckoned that if I'd thought of it then someone would beat me to it by the time I got on here. I'll settle on his passing being a tragic loss to opera.

    (Me neither)

Slow day for me so I read most of that story, this bit leaped out....

"While his international fame was not on the level of BTS or Blackpink, he's wildly popular at home, Rob Schwartz, an Asia correspondent for Billboard Magazine, told the BBC."

I'm going to really up my game if I'm going to be  down with the cool kids as I'm embarrassed to say I've never heard of BTS and Blackpink. Or to paraphrase.... Me neither.

Lilly savage yes but when he was just being himself he was fairly chill. I thought it he was older than 67 based on the age of Lilly savage character and how long ago That was.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mind Paul O'Grady but Lilly Savage was Scouse and flamboyantly camp. Alright in small doses but this suburbanite found him a bit irritating. Sorry 'her' a bit irritating. I'll be glad when drag queens are out of fashion again to be honest, I'm not sure why in our interesting times that they have managed to stay under the radar for being against 'something' or triggering a section of the community.

First points of the season for my captain. Gianluca Vialli is in the box for the last time.

Was reading up on him as part of my research, he was the son of a millionaire. Without knowing the full story I can guess he must have been really driven to play football as I assume he wasn't just doing it for the cash.

When drawing up this year's team, I did toy with going with a theme team very like yours, including some of the same picks, but was thinking of padding it with people whose names matched dead famous people (Anne Hathaway, Steve McQueen, Jane Seymour, etc). Yours is more consistent, though.

Would probably be a shitload of work but would there be mileage in a themed (second) deadpool. I had half a notion to put in a WW2 list.

I was reading a story yesterday about a Russian who'd gone out a window in India. Earlier this year he'd tweeted his opposition to the war in Ukraine before quickly withdrawing the tweet

An Indian police spokesman said "he'd been depressed" and pointed to the empty bottle of vodka in his room

Now call me Columbo but I have my suspicions...

"Just one more thing, Inspector Patel, what is that wad of roubles sticking out of your pocket .."

Is this the story ??? Nothing suspicious here, no sirree.

To be fair to the Russians, they've been getting away with this stuff for years and The West has largely turned a blind eye. A sanction here, a stern word there.... The West finally growing a spine must have come as a bit of a shock to them.

I picked Kanye West as my unnatural causes wildcard for 2023

If you can pick the right Russians then you'll be sorted. They're dropping like flies but its whether they'll get a qualifying obit. My missus worked with this lad.

In Embra not Vladivostok unfortunately. 😒 I swerved them as I couldn't decide but if I'd had the stones I'd have gone for Tinkov.
