  1. Spell check , honest don't buy into that mis-spelling of your club name.
The line handle things differently going forward?? Nearly an admission of not doing it correctly with TMcI [emoji4]

You are right, it technically wasn’t done ‘right’ and should have been done better. My point was it wasn’t done any different to how most junior clubs would have handled it and as a result will likely be done different in the future and other clubs would need to do it different too or run the risk of things like this happening that very rarely happened at this level.
  2. Allegedly Pollock made a complete James Hunt of it and a cut and dried case for Batman.

Firstly the team you mention were not his employees, but overlooking that and ignoring the deliberate small minded pettiness - please explain how most junior clubs let their managers go? I am pretty sure it’s not that different to this situation. The only difference was the action of the person after it.

That said, I am sure we will handle things very different going forward which means we unfortunately tar all people with the same brush as a result of one persons actions.

I hope Cumnock have went in with their eyes wide open.
  3. so all the things I've read on a certain football club fans website slating him since the day he joined the club are all made up....seen with my own eyes on numerous occasions the things been said about him...like get out our club ya tarrier b.....................after we beat them 1-0 at newlandsfield a few years back...a game our own manager was abused and our goalkeeper also from large parts of the crowd.....you have a nasty element and it aint just a few.....

What’s this certain fans website you refer to?

As the only Pollok fans website is the unofficial forum and nothing of the sort has been posted on that about him.
  4. No you are not correct.
He brought Lok back to life by immediate promotion after the legacy managers left us in the shit.
He got us to the Scottish Cup final in a game I am sure we would have won if extra time had been played but lost on the lottery of penalties.
He built us up as far as he could and most Lok fans really appreciated that.

    Hmmm.

He brought us straight back up after playing his part in us being relegated (despite what he would likely believe, 11 games out of 22 he was in charge for)and consolidated things in the top league that I agree with.

The Scottish run included a great victory at Bonnyrigg, probably one of the best performances from Pollok for many years. However that was achieved with a fantastic support from the club to allow him to have the financial support to build a squad with both Winters brothers and Carlo Monti. However we did then get to the final by only scoring penalties from the 1/4s and the 2 1/2 final matches. So carried luck to get there.

The final itself the best player at the club in the run up to the final was Heppy. A guy with pace on a large park being able to run at a slow Beith defence. However the manager being his stubborn self stuck to his favourites, something that was without a doubt the story of his time at Pollok.

He stayed too long, as we consistently repeated the same failings, with a splattering of hope each season quickly diminished by the lack of consistency in team shape and playing his favourites

His actions at the end of his time at the club in how he conversed with supporters, his actions at a certain game and his actions after he has left will be how he will be remembered by the majority of Pollok fans.
  5. I don't think anybody anticipated a Rossvale run of that magnitude mate. 4 points from our 1st 8 games. 25 from the last 10.

I don’t think they did. But my point is still valid, for Glencairn to get out the situation they are in then they need that’s sort of run.

Meadow did it last season, so it’s not unique to Rossvale.

However did say at the weekend to a few people, Gormley is looking like manager of the season
  6. I would agree about krr and rutherglen think they are now down think the last spot will be between cumnock and troon .

    Agree with that.

Both Cumnock and Troon have the issue of not many games called off either through park or Cumnock going out cup early. So teams do have a chance to pull points back and come later in the season there will be a lot of dead games where one team have something to play for and mid table lot don’t.

Would like to see Glencairn stay up, but unfortunately they seem to be really struggling after a couple of wins at the start of the season. They really need to put a Rossvale type run together.

Out of the teams down there, happy to see KRR go down and ideally Cumnock due to the guy in the dug out.
  7. You are delusional! Nothing between the two teams today but an idiot of a goalkeeper.  Semple carries the first into the net then if he doesn't get sent off we don't concede the 2nd.  Can't fault the effort of the ten that managed to stay on the park.

Pollok never got out of 2nd gear. Comfortable at 11v11 and bar a 10 minute spell when we seemed to panic never looked like anything other than a comfortable win.

Main disappointment is at 10v11 we didn’t actually go for it and seem content to knock the ball around. Would have loved to bang in 5 or 6 against that **** in the dugout.

Hope you have a water tight contract.

  8. Still no sign of a new striker we could do with someone for Saturday Nicky struggled upfront himself i woud play Hepburn up there if we are stuck sure he would do a job

I am sure Heppy would have a point to prove to the man in the opposite dugout.

Under Mcinally Heppy was responsible for two cup wins and equally the failure to play him at Rugby Park on a big pitch running at Beith defence was a mistake by the manager, played people on reputation that day not people who suited the game.

Next 3 games are massive for us kilbirnie medda then Talbot you get 6 7 points from them games it puts us in a really good position.the fight is there back at the buffs and the fans are getting behind what is being built just now.

For Kilwinning the next run of games feels like the position we were in at start of October. A run of games, Hurlford, Talbot, meadow and yourself over 5 weeks or so. Felt that would make or break our season, and we couldn’t manage our way through that run and only picked up a point at Meadow.

For yourself you have the games you mention, plus Hurlford and Glenafton before NY, as well as Glencairn.

Thats a run of fixtures against 5 top half teams and from what I have seen this season I don’t think there is a lot between most sides in this league, Talbot on their day being the standout side. If you get to New year still top of the league with a reasonable gap to Talbot bearing in mind their games to catch up, then you will be in a great position but still early on in the season and to be fair you have made a great start.

Would like to see the stats of how many penalties Pollok have been awarded this season, what they were for etc. They do seem to get one almost every week.

Awarded for fouls in side the penalty area.

  11. First one a penalty not the stonewaller I expected to see second one for me not a penalty yeah he stuck a leg out but was moving it back and the player went down very very easy if it was given against pollok I’m sure you would say same thing hardly stonewall penalties

I never said they were stonewall, just that fouls else where on the park.

But for the interest of fairness, let’s make the second one not a penalty and just call it 2-4!instead of 2-5.
  12. Pollok x 2 pens looked very soft after watching highlights on youtube

    What highlights you seen?

Only clips I have seen since being at the game were the ones Beith guy shows.

First penalty both the ref and lino give it straight away and no complaints from number 3, Stuart done him with his footwork. The other one the clip only shows Dallas penalty, not the foul, which was very similar to the first where the defender was done.

Interestingly in the build up to the second pen the highlights missed out number 6 taking out a player off the ball and the ref waving advantage yet failing to go back and deal with it for a second yellow card.
  13. Beith 2 Pollok 5
    G McCann 90

Well deserved victory today. Second half you wouldn’t have known who was down to 10. Couldn’t cope with Stuart McCann running at them. Much better from Pollok after a tough last 5 weeks or so.

A goal for Shelvey on his debut too.

11 games played before Tony came to Pollok  -  won3, drew 2, lost 6 for 19 against 28

    1st game in charge was 4th january 2014. 11 league games, won 2, drew 2, lost 7 for 20 against 30

    Thanks.

Was winters first game his first win (v Kilbirnie I think?) and how many games in was his first win?

Why what has he done at lok that was so bad

I am sure if you ask around you will find out. Won’t post on here as in the past posts about this person have been removed from P&B and no doubts things like that would go the same way of mentioned.

Tony already looking in at the pollok forum to see if he is getting a mention which isn’t the case. However I will direct you to saturdays latest scores thread where a Lok fan posted a hint to something which might explain what happened.

i wouldn’t expect him to get a welcoming reception on any future visit to Newlandfield.

I don’t mind Cumnock, so disappointed you have the guy as one of the ground and places in Ayrshire I don’t mind visiting as usually can have a decent balanced chat with fans about the game.

he was with us 5 months before the end of the season, January to May. At that point league seasons started end of August due to sectionals. So he wasn’t with us in the league season September to December, but was our manager for half the season and if I recall correctly we were not in the automatic relegation places when he took over, but only won 2 league games (I think) that season with us.

To be fair I dont care if he is cumnock manger what every other team needs is what talbot have and that is stability and stop spending stupid money and get players in that want to play for the jersey it's the only way teams will get near talbot not cause managers have beat us in 1 off games good luck to him he will need it but looking at his stats cumnock will be lucky if they stay in the premiership to be fair

Not sure I would be wishing good luck to him, more good luck to Cumnock !!

Nope he inherited a Lok side that were doomed and yes was in charge when they went down but had only been in the position a few months.
A very experienced manager and the only one ever to beat Auchinleck from a lower league in a Scottish final if memory serves me right-and beat them well.
if he can keep himself in order he can do well.A great track record of honours that only Talbot recently in the west could better and the likes of Kilbirnie could only dream about despite their petulant protestations.

Yep I agree hes experienced but always a but he did relegate a team regardless how many months or matches he had with them also yes he did beat talbot in the Scottish but how many games did talbot have to catch up with till the final if it was played fair and square at the time talbot would have won but the amount of games talbot had in the lead up to that final doesn't justify and if ur honest a decent final
