Airdrie just went in dry on a Premiership team so they seem to be breaking into at least a jog already.

We're still lying on the sofa munching last night's chips.

To be fair the Motherwell team they went in dry on look shocking after a bad campaign last season and the loss of Gallagher & Campbell won't have helped. Queens Park also dominated the game against them. Cove scudded Inverness but look shakey at the back, Inverness missed quite a few chances.

Queens Park look the best of the lot for me with Brown pulling the strings in the middle of the park whilst Gallagher does the dirty work for them. Murray running about like a blue arsed fly up top pulling defenders all over the shop(exactly what we're missing) Longridge and Biggar providing a bit of attacking threat from the wings. They've also got wing backs capable of getting up and down the park in Robson/Yeats and Doyle on the other side. Petet Grant at centre back who's relatively solid when fit. They still have their weaknesses and don't seem to have much depth like us so hopefully we're the ones that go out and recruit a bit more quality.

How many guys do you have out with covid?

When we had our outbreak we forfeited the St Mirren game as it happened the day before, but we were told in no uncertain circumstances that we had to play the Stenny game 3 days later which led to us signing two lads on amateur deals just to get enough players. I'm assuming that Falkirk's outbreak has more players out than we did but I still find it a bit shite that we were forced to sign players to play a game but others are being allowed to forfeit.

They've not said, they just keep saying 'a number' but not clarifying exactly how many. If anything and as horrible as it is we should be hoping it's a fair few instead of us going up against Cove with a depleted squad the game would just get rearranged. Would give us another week to get the finger out and bring in a few signings as well.

  3. The striker and centre midfielder are make or break for us. The back up centre back would be nice to have so that diddy Hall gets nowhere near the starting 11 but the centre mid and striker are the players who'll win us games. Currently we've only got Telfer and Hetherington capable of playing in the middle of the park and an injury to either of them would see us scunnert. Miller can as well but I'm not counting him as an option as we'd be as well playing with 10 men. Mcguffie/Ross are more suited to the 10.

If we bring in a decent centre midfielder with a bit of energy about them then Telfer could be pushed further up the park giving him the free role to go and affect games. On the wing we're basically sorted with Nesbitt/Mcguffie/Morrison/Weekes as options and I think there's enough creativity there with Telfer to help us break down teams. We just need someone in who's going to finish the chances we create at the top end of the park.

Please tell me Sean Kelly looked somewhat decent in a shite side last season and not just like some absolute jobber? :D

I think it says it all that in a season where we finished 5th in the third division of Scottish football we as fans weren't really bothered about him staying or going. How he's managed go get himself a premiership gig is beyond me.

If I was a betting man, I’d suggest we’ve officially signed the young lad today to either start tomorrow night or more likely be on the bench as cover with McKay still out & Miller suspended/shit.

Possibly, I'd rather see us gambling on him tomorrow night from the start than watching the same old Hall horror story.

All I'm saying is that they said at the Q & A session we would be working with a signed squad of 18 with the numbers being made up by loan signings. Some of us on here gave them pelters for that and suddenly we now have a squad of 22, unfortunately padded out with kids instead of the quality signings we were hoping for. They are conning us, never mind the quality, feel the width.

They maybe didn't expect 2000 season tickets to be sold this season and therefore more room has been made in the budget to allow for these youngsters signing as well as a few others to 'pad' out the squad.

Signing all these kids is just a smokescreen , hiding the fact that we're broke for one thing. We've got things back to front, we should be signing players capable of getting us up to the Championship, then blooding these youngsters into the 1st team. Instead, the club are doing things on the cheap, hoping that these boys are going to be good enough to get us promoted, conning the fans with all the signings and putting these kids under tremendous pressure to perform.

Sheerin's already said they'll be in and out the first team so you're spouting a load of nonsense. If they're good enough they'll be given the opportunity but we'll not be reliant on them unless we're hit with a plague of injuries. I'd much rather see a young prospect have a crack at it that Ben bloody Hall.

Possibly. Just presumed a development squad would be younger players around 14-16. Just seems odd that they’re identifying players that are supposedly already good enough for first team football. Shouldn’t they just have identified him for the first team? Not like we haven’t signed 18/19 year olds before?

When they said they trialled 60 kids for the team I just presumed they were kids and not soon to be 19. Just a presumption on my part though but not like there’s been much detail other than the bullet points we were fed at the Q and A.

Also now that he has been signed by the first team is that part of their budget? Will he be surplus to the 4 players Sheerin spoke about or part of it?

It's not really that unfathomable that the 3 players we've signed for the first team were maybe head and shoulders above the rest of the players that went for the development team trials and hence why they've been brought in to take part in the first team squad pre season with Sheerin seeing if he fancies them. They won't be on much at all so I doubt they are taking away much from the first team budget.

Really like Sheerin so far, speaks well, has a style he’s trying to get the team to work towards and doesn’t shirk from being humble about mistakes the team made.
He’s a massive upgrade on M&M, Hartley, McKinnon imo.

We always say this at the start of a new reign though so this time I'm being cautious. The football we've tried to play has been a lot better in the early stages but he's got himself a big black mark by signing Wilson for this season.

Still need two/three quality starters to come in as I'd like to see Telfer in the 10 where he can make the difference in games, we desperately need something different upfront and I'd like someone to challenge Mckay for a place.

Erm is it just me or have Falkirk TV forgot the 2nd Hamilton goal?

They obviously didn't want to show Hall's howler. I don't blame Mutch for that one as if he doesn't attempt to come out the boy gets time to bring it down and pick his spot anyway. All on Hall not being dominant enough in the air to head it away from goal.
