We're supposed to be challenging for trophies?

I would like to think the 3rd biggest budget would be challenging for trophies although going with Aberdeen fans on twitter it is the last time we are qualifying for Europe and relegation contenders now - at least we are in a lot better position than 2009 when McGhee took over very late in the summer and we had the likes of Ricky Foster, McDonald, Young, Duff, Mackie etc playing for us.

I just hope Derek McInnes makes a quick decision on leaving or not as nothing worse than this dragging on next week as well. Hopefully Aberdeen have already a short list created and doing a due diligence on all managers so we can make a very quick decision if McInnes decides to move to Sunderland.

  2. Panic on the streets of Aberdeen :(

I hope McInnes stays but I very much doubt he will as he will earn so much more at Sunderland even though the job looks a bit toxic. It is the worst time as the club as we really need to replace players that have moved on but at least we have some decent players at the club but next season could be a struggle given the high standards we have achieved in the last few years. Derek McInnes has been Aberdeen best manager since Fergie and if he goes I wish him well.

Aye they don't like a few home truths about the need for regular backing. I know a few who hide behind the excuses of ticket price, it's too cold, quality of football.

Funnily enough 5 minutes later their happily chatting away about Chelsea, Man U etc.

Every club have people that moan about ticket prices/cold/quality of football - we can't complain about the quality of football last season and also ticket prices are about the same as Hibs/Hearts and cheaper than Rangers/Celtic - it is bloody cold at times though :)

Even if McInnes and Hayes were to go, we've still got a very good core of Lewis, Logan, Reynolds, Considine, Shinnie, McLean and Rooney. No where near as bad as McGhee's shitshow with Derek Young and Stuart Duff in defence.

Great point we still have a very good squad of players unlike what Calderwood left McGhee.

  4. Panic on the streets of Aberdeen..... Week 2

No doubt will get on to Week 3 when McInnes returns from his holidays.

Notice a lot of abuse for George Yule on Saturday due to comments in EE. To me there is nothing wrong what he is saying if fans don't turn up then the budget will be slashed. George Yule put his own money to buy out Aberdeen Asset Management and since then Aberdeen have become a well run club - I don't want to go to the dark days when we was losing 2-3 million from the late 90's.

If only somebody had warned Aberdeen

To be honest Jack has split our support since the day McInnes moved him into the centre midfield position from right back position. Half our support have never rated him although I'm one that does rates him as I thought he was excellent the first 2 seasons with McInnes but last season when we made him to captain he was really dreadful. This season he has got near to the level he was producing previously although has had a few injuries so missed a fair bit of the season

I think midfield is our strongest position in our team but he is now the worst midfilder in our starting 11 as Hayes (best player), McLean (my player of the season), McGinn, Shinnie are better than him now. If Rangers do sign him he will do a job for them short term but imho he isn't the player you need to get near Celtic.

  6. I would be a amazed if Sunderland offered McInnes the job that he doesn't take it and to be honest he has probably taken Aberdeen as far as they can go. It would be the worst time for our manager to quit as this team needs rebuilding now so I hope that Sunderland don't offer him the job and the rumours about McInnes resigning are false. I was reading some fans think we should give the manager more funds but he will need more than 5 million in wages to take on Celtic and no point going major into debt again.

End of an era for this team and the last 4 years have been great which we continued to strengthen the team and although this team has done fantastic the only criticism is we only won 1 major trophy with this excellent team.

    Onto the cup final.

Our lot have decided to break from tradition and head to a Southside pub pre-match, instead of the usual Counting House. What are the the usual haunts, considering we've not booked into any ticketed events. All I really know from around Hampden is Clockwork but as its so close, I'd imagine it'd be rammed.

Can anyone help a brother out?

Might be worth at 12.30pm to be at Shed is Red as they are bound to have a few people that don't turn up.

I don't ever say this, so please forgive me, but please AFC board, break the bank to get Ryan Christie back. The lad is phenomenal. Genuinely love the way he plays and his raw talent. He's brilliant.

I wouldn't break the bank for him as he has only started 8 games for Aberdeen - i'm still not sure about him yet although has a lot of ability that is for sure but some games hasn't been involved enough

It was actually an interview with the Manager on RedTV - obviously Aberdeen are not happy with media trying to unsettle us

daily mail also reporting the dons have quoted cardiff £1m up front for Hayes.

if the latest bid is £750k then better hope if there is a deal struck then mcinnes has an emergency plan for tomorrow

Derek will be in dingwall watching Ross County tomorrow night - mentioned that with interviews after Dundee game

Hopefully the rumours that are going about Hayes are false and along with another rumour of the fee I heard they are going to accept which if true the fans will go mental at. Still we all know what rumours are like.

In regards to Christie, would people rather he went to another Premiership team and helped them take points off us?

I can't see him going to Rangers or Hearts on loan so it would be a club that is not a threat to us in the league so a possibility of taking points off teams around us.

I think Aberdeen priority is the Scottish cup and if we have to face Celtic then we will be weaker.

Was working so did not make it to Dundee but apparently was a standout for us. We have severely lacked a defensive midfielder since Goody left and apparently Storie did a fine job allowing our young attacking midfielders more space to roam forward.

Allegedly signing Smith today as cover wide right for McAllister who is being sold to Derby (but other clubs may also bid before he signs on the dotted line).

I think Smith position is just in behind the striker although can play out wide as well. Can't see Smith making the grade at Aberdeen and expect him to be released at end of season so maybe a good chance for you to look at him and him to look at your club. Anyway what a wonder goal this is from him:

Just popped by to have a wee gander on anything about Cammy Smith as we allegedly are interested in him. But noticed the comments on McLean. Teale moved McLean from a defensive/middle midfielder to someone playing far further forward just behind the main striker and for those few months McLean was playing the best football of his career activating his transfer. For me that is by far McLean's best position if you want the best out of him. He is wasted playing deep in my opinion.

I think every Aberdeen fan would agree with you on that.

Have you signed Cammy Smith on loan as his previous loan wasn't working at Dundee Utd.

How well did Storie play against Dundee?

  14. Don't really know where I stand on Christie coming on loan.

If it is with view of signing him next season then I'm all for that but if it is not the I don't like the idea of helping Celtic develop a player to play in their first team next season when we could be one of the teams that challenge them in the league next season. Also we can't play him against Celtic so another negative for me especially if we get them in the Scottish cup. I'm really not a fan of the loan short-term system as we had more failures than successes under McInnes.

I think with Hearts problems at the moment we should really finish 3rd in the league so that means we qualify for european football again so is this signing necessary that it could hinder the kids like Wright and Ross coming through?

Maybe Kenny McLean needs to be pushed as he was dreadful at the start of the season but since the start of November his form has been fantastic and had kept Maddison out of the team while going on a great run of games - so maybe this signing is to keep him on his toes.

Anyway now Christie has signed up lets hope he produces the form he had when he went on loan to Caley especially against us when that day he was outstanding with him and Storey (who!) scored against us in 2-1 win for Inverness CT.

Grown men on the Internet patently pretending to be #ITK is one of the most criminally underrated aspects of transfer windows, IMO.

I would add a lot of journalist that pretend to be ITK and really haven't got a clue. The only one I would believe is Scott Burns from Daily Express who seems to get majority of our targets right normally the day before.

I do laugh at Scott Burns exclusive today with Christie and then the rest of the journalist tweeting the same info as it was them that had the exclusive.

McDermid told us that if we wanted the manager to remain open and honest, then nothing from the Black & Gold evening should appear on social media - as this is where the weegia get their stories from these days.

Never went to the black and gold meeting for this one as the last one I went to they wasn't that open about it. The first one they had they was really open about so many stuff

Quite a few journalist get their stories on here so they might not be so open with next black and gold ha ha.

I think it would take at least 7 figures for us to consider it and I doubt anyone is willing to pay that tbh.

We should be looking at a lot more than just 1 million, we have no debt and easily Aberdeen best player.

Can't wait till the transfer window closes and hopefully with a few additions and no-one leaving apart from Storey which hasn't worked out and Burns loan deal terminated.

Shankland is finished with the Dons I reckon

He wasn't good enough for us sadly and looking at it the lad career is in trouble as if can't get a game for a poor St Mirren team and put on a bit of weight!

I'm sorry Derek I don't know why I ever suggested giving youth a go.

I think the standard of the U20's has dropped a lot in the last 5 years and I think it is based on the time we dropped Reserves league. It really doesn't surprise me we don't play any youth players coming through along with a lot of other clubs.

    I'm going to say it:

I think we will improve when Maddison leaves.

I agree as he is a luxury player at the moment not delivering any type of performance in the last 5 games. You are going to get this type of performances 19 year old kid but will Aberdeen drop him to the bench. Fans was worried that Norwich would take him back but no-where near ready for them yet. Still the lad has talent and his spell at Aberdeen will help him in the future.

Notice a lot of comments on social media at the weekend about McInnes along with comments on the Ross County thread: I think he has done a great job with the club but of recent times he has got the Calderwood tombola out along with not having a go against Celtic or Rangers and also a few poor results which has resulted in a minority wanting him out. I think he deserves to the end of the season and see how it goes, if we don't qualify for Europe then this season will be classed as a failure and the board would need to make a decision on keeping him. I think it is time for the manager to put his strongest 11 and stick with it for the next 3 games.
