It's too soon to judge. Teams have slow starts. Shit happens.

We have also had a tough start two away games against a team that finish 4th and 1st and also a home tie against the team that finished 3rd.

With regards with the transfer window I think we have strengthen the goalkeeper, the defence and attack but we are so light in midfield which we will hopefully have a few signings by the end of the night.

My next door neighbours grandfather played for Aberdeen in the 20s/30s (around that time) - jockey Duncan. Does anyone know a link for a profile or any information on him?

Much appreciated if anyone can share info

Did a look for Duncan and didn't see anything. Check out the wonderful http://www.afcheritage.org/main.cfm site it has every player that played first team for us.

Aberdeen have had a go at these teams (Sociedad at Pittodrie) but we're underdogs for a reason. 90% of the time the better team wins. Groningen and Rosenborg, while good teams, aren't on the level of most of the clubs that come into play in QR3 and 4, and certainly not the playoff round.

Wouldn't forget about HNK Rijeka they was a fantastic team

Norway who are a few places above us are in danger of losing all of there teams in the next round. While Poland who are just above us could lose a couple of teams aswell. With Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts we could take 6+ plus (CL is 2 points for a win I think) meaning that we could overtake both of them very soon.

FK Shkendija that put out Poland team was excellent last season. It just shows the 1-1 draw we got over there was a fantastic result and was really glad we got through 0-0 draw at Pittodrie.

Going with the Co-efficient - all i hope for is Celtic to get knocked out before the champions league group stages as the money they get is ridiculous - last 3 seasons have seen the quality of Celtic players getting worse and worse :)

  4. As mentioned previously you will be made more than welcome at Bayview. We have two bars, a small one on the ground floor & our lounge overlooking the pitch upstairs. I would advise arriving fairly early a spaces are limited. Mark Ridgers is making an appearance as doorman for the occasion! ;-) Any idea how many fans you think you will bring to the game?

Thanks do you know what time it will open? Think we will arrive about 12.30pm

Difficult to say what the Aberdeen support will be especially as same day as Wimbledon final so if Andy Murray is in it then might be less. We took 475 to raith last season friendly according to the heritage site - I would expect near that.

  5. Church and Brown have bid farewell and Robson announced his retirement on RedTV. Who else will be included on the see ya later article to be released on the official website tomorrow? Apparently some under contract players have been told they're free to find new clubs. Could be any of the following:

Flood, Reynolds, Taylor, Smith, Rose, and Pawlett. The first three would be relatively high earners imho.

We need a bigger squad not a smaller squad to cope with the demands next season so can't see many of them going.

  6. It's a lot less valuable than it was 13 years ago when a move to Kingswells was first put forward, unfortunately.

It's the result of a series of missed opportunities spanning decades, I feel. All of the available land around Pittodrie has been bought up and developed (no thanks to Mr. Milne) leaving a very tight space. Although I don't see why the Main Stand couldn't be rebuilt, with the road being moved further in the direction of the car park.

I would expect Pittodrie to be more valuable than 13 years ago but I think Aberdeen maybe mucked about with that figures! it would have went slighty down with the recession we are now but hopefully by the time we sell the oil prices will recover.

Is the council putting some cash into this as notice Councillor Willie young comment in the paper today about something about City deal funds.

  7.

Seems like he can't play for us this season as Dundee Utd look to be in trouble for playing a player who had returned from a loan in their win against ICT - https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/dundee-united/170475/dundee-united-expected-stripped-victory-inverness-caley-thistle/

Shankland said in his interview on RedTV he can't play till next season as his loan contract at St Mirren doesn't finish until the play-offs are finished.

  8. Played pretty well by all accounts,  but of little interest now, as he's off to Huddersfield next season.

Manager of Huddersfield was manager of Borussia Dortmund II which I suppose that is why Kopp is helping him out. If true then it is good for Ward to get a lot more game time and will be a matter of time before he comes a regular in the English Premier League.

  9. What are you basing this off?

Do you honestly believe we haven’t had decent offers for players over the last few windows?

I know Leeds tabled a decent offer for Mcginn anyway and we turned it down. Nothing suggests to me we would sell anyone unless some real silly money was offered which is unlikely.

Did Leeds table a decent offer for McGinn as going with the press they said they bid £500,000 for him and that is not a decent bid for a player - saying that since Christmas his form has been terrible and he isn't even worth that! I don't think we have had a decent offer for players for a long time.

Aberdeen is in recession due to the oil industry. Corporate sales are down this season and next season is going to be a lot worse also Aberdeen have made season tickets cheaper taking away early bird deal and with getting knocked out of the cup early they might have to sell to balance the books.

  10. Celtic and Hearts (and a number of other clubs) are selling clubs. They sell their clubs to players by saying "if you do well here you can get a move to England". We have players who want to be at Aberdeen long-term and we're reaping the benefits of that.

If Aberdeen gets a decent bid for a player then he will be on his way too. I'm bit worried that the English Championship side will sign up Hayes in the summer.

  11. i read so many comments from dons fans that we have missed a fantastic opportunity to win the league but the facts is that take away the Aberdeen games that Celtic have only lost 1 game in 31 games. I think for Aberdeen to win the league they will need help from other teams and they are not getting that with a very poor Celtic side.

I think Derek McInnes has done really well in the league for the 3 campaigns now playing some decent football although he will have to improve his record in the cups as two first round exits is unacceptable this season.

  12. Which games did Scott brown cost us points?

Pretty obvious Motherwell and Hearts recently also I think the defence has looked really bad since Ward has left as Brown doesn't give the defence confidence. I believe if Ward was at the club then we would have still had a chance of the league title.

The last transfer window was terrible for us not replacing Quinn/Ward/Goodwillie (needed another striker as only 2 first team players at the club)

  13. Feel bad for both. Taylors epic series of disasters at ICT for example were a bit harsh on him tbf considering the perscution of Colum. And as for Reynolds, f**k knows, he was brilliant last season.

Should also mention Jack will be the new local lad to get booed! He has been dreadful this season and hopefully our manager will take away the captain armband at the end of the season for Jack to concentrate on his game.

  14. I miss clangers, I knew who to blame back then.

Think Taylor and Reynolds are the new boo boys. I wouldn't dump Reynolds just yet, i think he has been dreadful this season but wonder if it is because he was in the Scotland squad and didn't get a look in during the summer which caused him to miss preseason. At least this time he will get 4 weeks off before they go back to preseason training.

  15. Excellent interview with Graeme Shinnie, reviewing the season and his time at Aberdeen thus far. You will need a RedTV membership to access the full version, which is 15 minutes in total. He is a class act.

    https://redtv.afc.co.uk/extratime/1444

Aye its a good interview - be interesting to compare the Jack interview to his interview.

Think for next season Graeme Shinnie should be captain as he is a winner and like what many think Jack form this season has been really disappointing which by the looks of it the captaincy has effected his game.
