Best I can remember anyway. Fantastic stuff.Must be our best start to a league campaign in history this?0 -
The addition of him and Thomson has made a big difference. A defence that's confident in their goalie seems to make a big difference. Huge improvement over Hutton.I think it’s went a bit unnoticed but what an addition Darren Jameson has been. Seems to claim everything in the air. Best keeper we’ve had in a good while0 -
That whole tournament makes no sense to be honest. Once a decent lower league cup now a farce.Thank f+++ sense has prevailed, game now to be played next year between Bohemians and East Fife.1 -
Think gold in the middle of the park on Friday might have worked better. Played well there a couple of times this season. Hard to judge off just one game. If that was the only Arbroath game you had seen this season you would think our whole squad was poor. Obviously that's not the case.
I think our problems our wide are more serious. At which point do we stop waiting for Denholm to come good and just accept he’s never going to recreate his Forfar/Early last season form again. I’ve seen nothing to suggest he will. Really disappointed David Gold didn’t take a game on Friday night, been wanting him to get a run on the wing but he was awful.0 -
Don't forget under 21 teams! If we're not going to run a reserve team when do our fringe players get game time? It's a fine balance but I'd rather concentrate on the league than this cup.Yes it’s a diddy cup ruined by the introduction of the foreign sides, but it’s still something the club should be aiming to win. A cup final away day would be terrific for the club and supporters.

Getting awfully worked up about a competition we don't care about. We used it to give our bench players game time so if called upon they have game time under their belts. We were outplayed last night but let's move on

As would myself. At least so I know why they kept spouting that drivel over the tannoy.I would like the club to make a statement regarding their thoughts on the crowd behaviour tonight2 -
DC confirmed 5 changes for the cup game. Could well be the return of Doris on Friday night.

I would agree. We have gold, whatley who can play full back and hammy, Thomson can cover cb but it's a bit of a stop gap measure. Any medium to long term injury would be a issue.Absolutely delighted with the start to our season (League and Cup) but I worry about our lack of defensive depth. An injury to any of are regular 4 causes is a big problem.1 -
You realise that Smith will still be cup tied.
Best back 5, then give Pongo, Graham, Smith a game and DD if he’s not a regular by then.0 -
I would be quite happy to keep the bench players playing as they don't have any other means of serious game time and should still be enough to win the game.I'm happy with the draw, and would definitely like to see us give 3/4 fringe players some game time again however I do feel the further we go in the competition, the more serious we should take it. At this stage I'd make a few less changes than against Elgin/ Annan, and if we got to quarters/ further I'd like to see us move towards players our strongest team as the chance for us to get to a semi-final/ final doesn't come around very often.0 -
Problem is unless you play a 3 in midfield you have to pick between Swankie and Pongo imo. It's not a bad problem to have though as both are quality players.Thought Pongo had a very decent game yesterday. His vision and passing make such a difference, really think Wallace would profit from having McCord supplying him. Rather than having to chase punts into the channel, McCord could actually supply balls which allow Wallace to play between the posts.Eta If you look at the 6 replacements yesterday most of them could argue for a starting place. Also Doris on the bench.

Got to love a DC interview. Gets asked what he thinks of the challenge cup competition and starts moaning about the league cup group stages and playing only signed players in July.

The big positive was being able to make 6 changes and cruise the game. The squad is strong and with Doris returning only makes it better. We're more than capable of beating any team in the league this season.

Surely be Kane from the start tomorrow since its the diddy cup. Both awards thoroughly deserved [emoji4]
Look forward to still hearing someone call Wallace a useless c**t and demand the introduction of Kane 10 minutes into the game tomorrow [emoji3]0 -
If we stick to playing everyone who didn't start in the league. The cup game Saturday's lineup should be something like
Hill
Gold TOB Little Hammy
Linn Graham Mccord Denholm
Mckenna Hester
Think that's a team who could still get us through.
Good to see Doris warming up on Saturday. Hopefully see his name on the bench soon.

Darren Jamieson looking excellent so far. Couldn’t have asked for better. No clear weakness, good decision making, good shot stopper and comes out for crosses.
I certainly feel more relaxed watching him than Hutton that's for sure!

I think Hibs are looking for a permanent move rather than a loan though.I think with the new loan rules and his age he could still turn out for us on a saturday and play for hibs Reserve team.
Tbf though it would likely mean Whatley being benched and even more midfielders fighting for 2 central roles.0 -
The biggest issue from signing him instead of being on loan would be the part time aspect. Sure he could stay full time in the championship.Scott Martin wants to come Gayf0 -
McKenna is away to a wedding. Not sure I said there is a problem, 4 capable strikers (5 when Doris comes back) is a good thing. All I am saying is Hester will get less chances to play now in my opinion. I’m imagining McKenna and Wallace will play on Saturday and if we’re looking to make a change Smith is likely to get the nod.0 -
Hopefully not.Hopefully DC and JW are in the mood for thrashing out a gentleman’s agreement.0 -
Charlie Adam was a fans favorite back then. Great player.

Was at the 4 1 reply at Bayview. Huge crowd for a midweek game and a great atmosphere in the ground.

Technically Gav could play against Forfar as the agreement wasn't contractually binding. Did the club make the agreement.? Did the management team make the agreement? I think some of the uncertainty came from the fact that they were considering not sticking to it.
In the end I think clarity would have been better.
Conducting yourself in a way that gets a touchline ban is not acceptable but from a fans perspective it's tolerable because it shows a bit of passion for the club and the job.
If we were getting beat every week would it be looked on differently? Probably yes.
The other stuff is all unacceptable so I guess that's where the line is. No bullying or bribing allowed!
