  1. Hopefully the V&A gives the city the 'PR' that is required to tempt job makers to the city, but yes I take the point. It's the serial whingers on fb that get my goat, not those who are genuinely struggling.
  2. I hope this whole 'he has x no. of games' is a stalling tactic while the board sound out a replacement.
  3. The imagery your post conveys is worthy of a greenie- Crawford at Campy prospecting for oil like some mad Daniel Day Lewis character. The conspiracy talk cancels that out though. As I say, their managerial appointments are fair game but their willingness to invest in state of the art facilities for the betterment of the club is a strange target, emotions re the departure from Dens notwithstanding. You sound like one of those Facebook posters that constantly troll the good news articles about the city: "Just what Dundee needs- another hotel" "Just what Dundee needs- another cafe" "Just what Dundee needs- another internationally renowned museum of design that enhances our status as UNESCO World City of Design"
  4. Your comment simultaneously amused and depressed me.
  5. The United consortium was a complete fabrication if you believe some of the Arabs. I'm all for critical analysis of our board especially given the club's off pitch history. However i'd be criticising their managerial recruitment before speculating on merger conspiracy theories. A merger would bring nothing. Utd have no assets to speak of and their players are worse than ours. Any negligible boost in attendances would only be enjoyed long after the Americans sold up and left. On the whole they are the best board we've had in my, not inconsiderable, lifetime. They seem to want to appoint up and coming managers. Hartley was actually a good appointment but he ran out of ideas, luck and steam. The pursuit of Jack Ross was encouraging but the ultimate appointment of McCann in favour of Ross has been a cluster f**k. I do like that they give managers time but in doing so they are playing fast and loose with our Prem status- they were lucky, imo, when McCann kept us up in 16-17 and I think that it's a mistake that they are giving McCann so much time now. The longer it goes on the more and more detached we become from 10th and the best we can hope for is a play off place. Can you imagine this team coming through a playoff victorious?
  6. Sad to hear Socky passed away. The tarzan calling guy in the Coxy. I never knew him but my old man used to have a ST in the same section as him. Him and his mates were a riot.
  7. At this moment in time I'd take Davina McCall if it meant the end of the McCann era.
  8. I realise this is completely off topic and a change of pace but I think Peter Marr is on my train.
  9. All things considered - probably my favourite season following the Dee.
  10. I think, deep down, the board know this too. They seem to be treading a fine line between showing the manager loyalty and ensuring our top flight status- I hope they don't f**k it up.
  11. The council website shows all the listed buildings in the city and it appears that the Main Stand isn't one of them. It's a dying breed of Archibald Leitch stands and it will be a crying shame when it is flattened. For all the ridicule Dens gets from opposition fans it's a popular away day. Whenever I am working down south the one thing that people mention when I say I'm a Dundee fan is the closeness of the two grounds in the city. It's clear that the old ground is holding the club back however. Hopefully in the future when I'm down south people will be asking about our latest trophy win rather than just how close we play to our rivals[emoji6].
  12. For contractual reasons you are now going to have to change that to "we are the Kilmac Stadium at Dens Park Dynamos". Thank you.
  13. How many of McCann's signings were given 2 year deals? Miller, Elton...? Binning McCann wouldn't give us the same kind of Hartley player legacy headache I assume. The board won't rush it but you have to wonder just how many points adrift we would have to be before they act.
  14. Nope, but we can still derail Hearts' title dreams - it's what we do.
  15. Yeah wasn't 100% sure that was Dens and put too much faith into Google images. Thought that the shed in background was too wide to be the old Provost Road End.
  16. Aberdeen v Dundee United SC semi at Dens 1967. 41,500 at the game.
  17. Kenny Miller remembers. That the second time in the last few weeks that I've seen an Arab on here resort to that sort of patter. Poor show, not wanted in our rivalry imo. McCann has made no secret of wanting to build something at Dens. The Miller signing shows he's desperate and, perhaps, because the board have told him he is on notice.
  18. Dundee Colts v Well Colts in next round of Irn Bru Cup. Not inconceivable that our youths could win and then be playing for a place in the Quarters of a UK wide tourney. Bizarre.
  19. Dundee United's first team are running so scared of meeting our colts in the next round that they are throwing their Irn Bru Cup game against Perth Colts.
  20. I remember that article. It almost reads like a post from a football forum. The author thinks it madness that Dundee are attempting to build a new ground but then goes on to say that Dens is not fit for purpose. His solution? Build a new ground on the land the owners have acquired...for the purposes he originally thought mad. He also thinks the council should be involved (which they are already) and that Utd should be brought in (they were asked but declined). Complete non-entity of an article with no attempt to fact find and probably written with Murray Foote breathing down the neck of the author. It is retrospective vindication of that rag's ban from Dens.
  21. Dundee must either: •Have one of the highest PATG:ST holder ratios in the league, or •Understate season ticket sales. If it's the former, then the gamble of targeting PATG fans' pockets to boost ST sales hasn't worked, and we will probably see another decrease in attendances as a result.
