  1. Too many because we've limited amount of beds, intensive care beds and staff and they are all being stretched and have been for months, before we even get to the winter period. There are other reasons than Covid, but its a big part of it. Not as thick as someone who thinks we are in a far better place than the rest of Europe despite having double the deaths before we even reach winter. We're heading into winter too, and its not like cases are tumbling to low levels, so what if we end up with cases climbing as we head towards winter? It might not be as bad as the spike Germany might have, but it hardly means they are fucked and we are in a far better position.
  2. UK has had 15k deaths since July, Germany, Spain, Italy & France all under 8k deaths. So to consider the UK has smashed it and Europe have fucked it is a bit bonkers even for you. The UK hopefully will avoid a big spike in the coming months, but the fact is, we've got too many people in hospital and dying of Covid, and have done for months.
  3. Aw sorry to hear that, what age is Brodie? He looks pretty happy here, hope you can continue to make his last days happy ones.
  4. 15 years is a great innings, still a sad loss whatever their age though.
  5. It's hard to see how they'll encourage anyone who doesn't already take public transport or walk/cycle to the game to do so, especially when as you say, some of them who're visiting from overseas. Plus all the carbon offset stuff just on hosting the game and all the media coverage. How much electricity is used within a stadium with over 50,000 people and however many media with all of those Sky TV cameras. But anyway, this is the kind of stuff they are saying about it. "The club has urged to fans to travel sustainably, choose plant-based food options and recycle in the stadium." "Rather than the pie or hotdog at half-time, it'll likely be a meat free substitute. Packaging will be light and recyclable." "carbon emissions will be reduced as much as possible with the remainder being offset through natural projects that remove emissions from the atmosphere." "Spurs are promoting sustainability, with the planting of trees and nurturing their own vegetable plot at the training ground." "We eat a lot of the vegetables we grow at the training ground, we've stopped drinking out of plastic bottles at the training ground. It's very real what the club do."
  6. I've never mentioned the word burden or that I'm concerned, just that 150 people aged under 30 have been admitted in the past week, so like every other Covid patient, contribute to stretching the service the NHS can provide. And the only reason I commented because you insist the under 30's are in no danger from Covid whatsoever and don't put any burden on the NHS. But please, carry on blundering away the same old nonsense in response. I'll go back to just laughing at some of it and leaving you to it again.
  7. Can you not read as well as not understand facts? Proclamation from you "(under 30's) don't burden the health system" My response "150 admitted in the last week, so contributing to the hospitals being incredibly stretched" Away and raffle yourself with your 'if you think that's a burden on all of society'. Waffle & pish, keep it up mate
  8. The big difference is it allows a negative LFT result to be used as well as vaccine record. Don't know why they haven't done that here too, I think they've said they'll look at it again, and they should. I don't see there being any further lockdowns in the UK, so they might as well do these passports right and not exclude people completely.
  9. It's for Scotland only and a wee hint, the number of under 30's in Scotland is a bit below 68 million. Besides, it was only in response to your oh they're in no way a burden, I know facts are something you struggle with.
  10. I've never see any info on the numbers of people in hospital who were admitted for something else but then caught Covid while in there, and it's something they definitely seem to keep quiet about, but I think there is a mix up between two different things, the number of people in hospital and the number of people admitted to hospital. While the numbers given for people in hospital with Covid will include those who didn't have it before they went in, the number of daily admissions is people who've tested positive either 14 days before admission or when they are admitted. So this won't include this unknown number who contract Covid while in hospital.
  11. I haven't read or heard much of what Yousaf has said since he's been made Health Secretary, but this stuff on twitter just makes him seem an utter twat.
  12. Even though they're the least likely to become seriously ill or die, in the past week alone there's been 150 people under the age of 30 admitted to hospital. Far less than those aged over-70 but they're still taking up beds and staff time and contributing to the hospitals being incredibly stretched.
  13. In that case, your username is clearly false.
  14. I got mine via work and got mine ok. Apart from having to use the 'forgot username' as I never had a vaccination letter, once I got that, I was able to register with no problems.
  15. Immaterial of whether its poor modelling or whatever, it is utter bullshit. Sensationalist crap to grab a headline and it just makes people think it's all a load of rubbish. The UK has never admitted over 5,000 patients in a day in the entire pandemic, so it's hardly likely to happen now that we've at least got vaccines to lessen the risk.
  16. There aren't any plans to discontinue paper copies. "From Friday 3 September, people will be able to download a PDF copy of their vaccination certificate, with a personalised QR code, to print off instantly or store on their mobile phone for use domestically or internationally. This is in addition to the existing paper letters that can be requested from NHS Inform and the Covid Vaccine Status helpline." 17. RIP wee Millie. Sorry for your loss.
  18. Sorry for your loss. What a cracking looking dog she was, this one is a great photo. I lost my boy last year to cancer and it's still fucking shite. We don't have ever have them for long enough.
  19. The BBC article it links to has this quote from his daughter, "[Leslie] was so brainwashed by the stuff that he was seeing on YouTube and social media. He said: 'A lot of people will die more from having the vaccine than getting Covid.'" Even if your hesitant about vaccines in general, believing more people will die from the vaccine than from Covid sounds like you've been influenced does it not? People often believe they are critical thinkers, and don't want to follow the crowd, so can be taken in when there are high profile people posting mis-information about vaccines online. Its hard to see what can be done about it. Meanwhile, post stats about how much vaccines have reduced hospital admissions despite high numbers of cases, and instead of media reporting on x amount of vaccinated people being in hospital, headline how many unvaccinated are there. Other than that, if people don't want to be vaccinated, encourage them and answer their questions and just leave it at that, this highlighting people who were anti-vax and have died just seems a bit off.
  20. Aw f**k that's awful news mate. RIP Otis.
  21. She looks smashing for her age. Even for a mongrel, 19 is really good for a not so wee dug.
  22. It just uses bluetooth, my speakers can't get a signal if they're too far out of sight/range of my phone, but the app picks up a signal in another house? I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that everyone who is vaccinated will drop down dead on a certain date anyway (something to do with an elite plot to rid the world of us plebs), so there will be no one left to be proved right. Not sure if you're right about the possible reason, but they're has to be something else going on here. Apparently the 3-4% of the Beta variant that's within the French numbers is predominately in the French territory of Réunion, which makes it even stranger they've altered the rules for France. The variant accounts for about one in 10 new infections in France, but the data includes its Indian Ocean territories of Réunion and Mayotte, where the variant is almost dominant.
  23. Yeah that's a fair enough point. But at the same time, it's still the increased numbers of patients with Covid in hospitals, and the mitigations that have to be put in place to deal with them, that has the biggest impact on hospitals being able to treat other patients. Staffing numbers is the interesting one, and if they decide those fully vaccinated no longer have to self-isolate.
  24. As you say, we're not at the peak of hospital numbers yet, but some hospitals cancelling non-urgent surgery is a sign that they are at least starting to be a bit overwhelmed. The restrictions are getting less restrictive, and we're a million miles away from lockdown. Things are looking better, though you'd never guess reading this thread.
  25. Except in Scotland LFT results aren't included in the testing figures, and in three weeks hospital numbers have gone from 177 to 543, and ICU from 17 to 47. But aye, apart from that you and James have maybe got a point.
