  1. I'll need to watch it again later but I thought he said it was something that as a management team and his staff they couldn't affect. I don't think he said "the club" which to me suggests something different. But then I am maybe reading too much into it.
    I have a suspicious mind!

The way I heard it was “as a management team and staff” with staff probably being the management committee, but then I could be wrong.

Like I said earlier, there are other clubs also in the same predicament with international clearance for some players which makes me think it’s more the respective FA’s that are taking the piss.

Either way fingers crossed we get something through by tomorrow otherwise we’ll be struggling to field 11 again or we’ll be forced into making a panic signing.
  2. I'm sure I read somewhere that the SFA grants provisional clearance if there hasn't been a reply within 30 days?

Well evidently not as they were both signed over 30 days ago. Unless in which case they never lodged for clearance until well after the signings. No idea how it works tbh
  3. What do people make of the manager's comments in his post match interview?
He is clearly unhappy with the situation regarding the two players needing international clearance but he is a bit cryptic about who he thinks is responsible for it.  It could be the club or the football authorities?

He says in the interview that it was something the club couldn’t affect. I noticed quite a few clubs were still awaiting international clearance coming through for their players also, including Falkirk for a signing from Croatia (like Luke Watt).

Sounds to be like the respective foreign FA’s are digging their heels to me.
  4. Yes it’s a brand new squad and there’s a lot of young guys in there but there’s a plenty of quality there too. A few guys that could definitely do a job at a higher level, particularly Hill, McLaughlin and McCord.

We should be aiming for the playoffs.

  5. All the other part timers including HL and LL sides seem to have got sides no problem apart from Brechin and Dumbarton. Cup has always been no trialists so everyone knows the score.

It’s not a case of failing to have a squad signed up, we’ve 17 signed players!

Two of those in McLaughlin and Watt are STILL awaiting international clearance from Australia and Croatia despite signing over a month ago. This is outwith the clubs hands.

Add in a suspension, 2 injuries and a player on holiday and you have the predicament we had today.
  6. Be nice at the start of July for the club to announce we are ready for the start of the new season with all players in place. Seems every season we are way behind every other team in terms of sorting a squad of players out. And Barry Smith playing today FFS!

If Watt and McLaughlin were available today it wouldn’t really have been an issue. Absolutely ridiculous that international clearance isn’t through yet. They both signed what must have been over a month ago.
  7. Well we haven’t learnt a lot from these pre-season friendlies. After a couple of tough seasons and starting a squad from scratch it might have been a better idea to have a few winnable games as opposed to chasing a few quid. Confidence may well be knocked out these guys before a ball is even kicked, but time will tell.

  8. Don’t think we are going to learn too much from the friendlies. All about getting the fitness up and making a few quid off sizeable away supports. Hopefully like the Dundee game we can keep it respectable.

We’ll have a real gauge of where we are at against the likes of Forfar and Montrose in the Betfred and even then it’ll take these players a while to gel with still another 6/7 to come in surely.

  9.
According to EOS website he isn't even in the top 24 league scorers for last season or the top 20 scorers in all competitions.
"junior sides top scorer" how thick are these guys

From Alloa advertiser. So was he or wasn’t he top scorer for Sauchie?
  10. McCord was tidy on the ball but lacked fitness, McLaughlin looked excellent.

Agree with that. McCord showed glimpses of quality with a few neat passes and McLaughlin looked our best player and that was out of position too.

The big striker no 9 was huge and looked like he’d be a handful with more fitness and against weaker opposition.
  11. Season ticket holder for 30 years plus what a reward for us loyal fans especially for the last 2 seasons. Time for change Ken and committee have run out of ideas this will cost club season ticket sales

I noticed they’ve re-advertised the current committee vacancy so it would appear we are struggling to fill that let alone potentially replacing those further up.

I hope all those commenting above will be making their thoughts known at the AGM. I don’t live locally so will be unable to make it.
  12. At least make it the same for everyone. I thought they had it right with the early bird offer they did previously.

I agree but if they were able to offer the reduced price to everyone they’d have done so surely.

Prob been better offering it out at £180 to everyone or something like that.
