Big Henry was one of the new committee who stepped forward in the early seventies when the club needed new blood and direction. He has been there ever since. Talbot became the most successful Junior team in history and Henry has been at the helm for most of that and involved in all of it. It would be fair to say he knows a thing or two about running a successful football club. Talbot as a collective have never understood the clamour to become a senior club. To call a guy who is a total gentleman arrogant, when clearly it is quite the opposite, demonstrates who indeed are arrogant. Perhaps part of Talbot's success is knowing what they are, and indeed what they are not. Perhaps some could do with learning that lesson!
Personally, I think you’re missing the boat. The world has changed and junior football with it. The status quo isn’t an option anymore.

Whatever the outcome with the juniors, I think the best option for Bonnyrigg is to move to east of Scotland. In fact, I’d suggest all Lothian teams should consider this.
In the west, without an obvious place to go, I’m not sure.

It may not be rocket science but ... if 16 west teams are propelled to tier 6 because there has never been any previous pyramid engagement and the same happens in the north, there are going to be a lot of unhappy junior teams in the east who already had 12 teams at tier 6 (excluding the arrival of Kelty this season and whoever goes next season). And those 12 were there before the pyramid was a thing so it's chance rather than design.
Effectively we're saying west and north to tier 6 and east to tier 7. If that's how it is, then that's not going to fly and the sjfa cannot negotiate that as a solution.
I simply cannot see the sfa entertaining the juniors landing above existing leagues.
now, I know there are issues with playing standards - that’s the real issue to address - and it might be addressed by conference leagues next season or season after to grade teams into a completely new set up. However what’s in it for the eosl and sosl? Not much I think?
it seems the sjfa have acted just in time to save their validity before a mass exodus. They haven’t actually came up with a viable plan though; but really; that’s probably for the sfa/spfl/eos/sos/hl to tell us now what they envisage. Which really means the juniors position is really weak unless individual clubs want to jump ship.

What's to stop Clydebank joining the EoS and transferring should the WoS ever get off the ground?
I’m far from convinced that the Clydebank would be accepted into the east of Scotland should they apply.

I think it would be fairly straight forward.
Bottom League two relegated, second bottom into a play-off with Champions of HL, LL (East), LL (West). Four teams, two ties, winners of both go up or stay up.
That said, it would take a long time for the current set-up to absorb everyone who wants to be in it and for everyone to find their place. Then a few seasons of stability, perhaps 10 years in all. Only then would the idea gain any traction with SPFL clubs, but this should be the next step to improving the bottom end of the SPFL and top end of non-league long term.
I think we’d need to see the current play off produce more non league winners before a play off like that would be entertained.

I don’t think the sjfa grasp the reality of the situation.
If I was a betting man, I’d guess point 4 was probably a right laugh for the other leagues.

Ive always beeen in favour of a pyramid system for football below the SPFL and being involved with a highland league club that wants to go as far as is possible, will always support the concept. However i have always felt that the SFA have not thought through the structure of the pyramid below league 2 with all the interested parties - EOSFL, SOSFL HL and the juniors. Scottish football should have followed the structure of scottish rugby and created a west, east and North/midlands league on equal parity with the north champions playing off with the midlands champions to then move forward to a semi finals with the west league winners, east league winners and SPFL bottom club for a place in the top draw the next season. 4 non leagues on equal parity with each top division licenced or near licenced. Eligibility to scottish cup at level 5 eligibility to junior cup at level 6 and below regardless of current senior junior or amateur status.
Are the juniors an interested party?

Junior football, what is the future?

I think the clubs that have applied understand the reality of the situation - maybe they are getting a jump on the west clubs too because I struggle to believe a wos league is going to happen anytime soon and not at tier 6.
The sjfa is going to have to come up with something coherent and quickly but I don’t think there’s a will within the sjfa and as the survey results show there’s significant disagreement. If you take out 16 east teams - 10% of the sjfa memembership - well, that makes 10% less in favour of the pyramid within the sjfa. The sjfa will lose the very clubs it needs to support change.
