  1. Brilliant news. Moore's goal return last season, considering he found himself on the bench a fair bit, was fantastic.
  2. Says a lot for Shankland that he's made a decision based purely on football rather than heading for the bright lights and the £ signs. Whit a gem. Love you Lawrence x
  3. Would he really be that bad? Firstly, he is not Stevie Aitken, which I would, on yesterday's 'performance', class as a positive. He's also been responsible for some of the best moments of my life as an Ayr fan. Two promotions, multiple Premiership scalps and a National Cup Semi-Final, albeit he personally shat the bed when we got there. The fact remains that he has twice taken a part-time side back up to the Championship, and on one of those occasions achieved an unbeaten home record for the season.
  4. Felt for you lot yesterday, firstly due to being the latest to fall foul of Alloa's 'b*****d' streak, which they have unleashed on both ourselves and Raith in the last few weeks. They seem to love rustling teams, and scoring a 93rd minute goal just epitomises that. Mainly feel for you having to sit through 120 minutes (210 if you happened to go to the away leg) of utterly shambolic tactics where it seemed like an attack v defence training drill for much of the second half. I understand that you had a precarious lead and I suppose SA decided to try and hang onto that, but ultimately he got it all wrong. Must have been absolutely brutal to watch as a DFC fan watching wave after wave of Alloa attacks knowing that, if one of them happened to result in a goal, you were f****d. Not going to try and paint a rosy picture of relegation here, and when Ayr were sent packing this time last year, I was gutted, but there really is nothing like watching your team win games, regardless of what level it's at. What you have had at DFC in the last few years is nothing short of miraculous, but maybe it's time for you to go down, re-group and have the chance to experience a different kind of season, where success means more than just avoiding relegation.
  5. To me, all that article states is the absolute obvious. Of course Shankland will want to play at the top level again, and of course he'll see what options he has in the summer before making a decision. This article could be written about any out of contract player on the planet.
  6. Would pay good money for the patch of grass that Woois (Hope you all see what I did there) Vaughan was standing on when he hit the post.
  7. To be fair they've actually taken it with a lot more grace than I'd have liked them to, they have pretty much to a man accepted that we deserved the title. Hard to wind up people who are agreeing with everything you say!
  8. With Raith hitting the panic button after a couple of postponements and selling Season Tickets early to give them a bit of financial breathing space, would they really be in a position to pay Smith off should they fail to go up? With talk of going to part-time status, I'd be surprised if they part with the cash for another manager, especially given the fact that Rovers will be firm favourites for the title next year either way.
  9. Just hope training in Ayr full-time doesn't put players off joining. I think some players view partially training in Glasgow as a big benefit. I get what McCall is saying about being a real Community Club, but I hope we don't shoot ourselves in the foot with that one.
  10. He's talked about how much he has enjoyed being the main man here, as it's the first time he's experienced it. Would hate for him to jump at this Hearts move and end up being wasted on their bench. Having said that, if he does go, I'd rather it was somewhere like Hearts rather than another Championship team. Have to echo what others have said about Paddy Boyle as well, it's the right decision but it's sad to see him go, I f***ing love that man. Farewell my prince.
  11. Well that's fair enough, but I'll let McCall worry about it. Saturday night was unbelievable and when I was walking down Ayr High Street in the sunshine on my lunch break, I still felt on top of the world, definitely wasn't agonising over next season's defence. Not ready to move on yet. Champions.
  12. Really don't feel like discussing the harsh realities of next season yet tbh, the team deserve a few weeks to enjoy being Champions before we get down to who stays or goes, and so do the fans.
  13. I saw after the Alloa debacle last week that you'd quoted me in the Champions Elect v Playoff Chasing Ayr thread and couldn't bear to look at it until now. Nice Gregg Wallace pic, thank god I can laugh at it now. This last 3 weeks have been a roller coaster of orgasmic highs and ball-crushing lows. Will need a full summer to recover tbh!
  14. Commiserations chaps. Genuinely been a walking ball of rage for the last 2 weeks thinking we'd blown it so I know how you feel. No gloating from me, all the best in the Playoffs.
  15. I know of a lot of Sunderland ST holders who are watching South Shields on a weekly basis because of the state Sunderland are in (and the Julio Arca effect). They've certainly been unintended beneficiaries of the situation at the SoL. Those that go seem to love it as well, wonder if they'll even return to see SAFC when Ellis Short does eventually sell.
  16. Shows what a dreadful result for Boro it was drawing 1-1 away at Burton Albion was when you see what Hull did to Burton last night
  17. Norwich's 89th minute equaliser last night is a huge nail in Sunderland's coffin. Absolute shambles. Won't be long until they're in the same division as South Shields.
  18. I really don't think Dumbarton are a better side than Raith, let alone a much better side. I appreciate you're all very down on Rovers' chances at the moment having utterly shat the bed from being 8 points clear, but from an objective point of view, I'd strongly fancy your chances of joining us in the Championship assuming we do win the title. Your home record is excellent, and no team will relish going to Stark's Park in such a high pressure game, let alone a Dumbarton side who have only been saved from automatic relegation by a laughably shite Brechin side. Dumbarton didn't register a single league goal in 2018 until the 13th of March, so nothing to fear there. It just seems to me that everything is set up for Lewis Vaughan to relegate Dumbarton a year after saving them...
  19. We're still second... Title is very much still up for grabs, although we are of course now favourites.
