  1. Memo to some Old Firm fans: the above is how it’s done. Acknowledge wrongdoing. Condemn it. No whataboutery.
  2. I had £10 on this, was standing in a queue to the bar at Doncaster races and saw it was a winner before half time...Nice work ya c**t ye
  3. Queen's Park visit Brechin on Saturday and I think the away win is definite value at 6/4 with bet365. QP deservedly beat us on the opening day (no biggie granted) and were by all accounts unlucky not to win last weekend. Brechin will IMO be one of the sides fighting relegation this season and I think QP will edge a tight game by 1 goal. Elsewhere Peterhead have got to be fancied to dispose of hapless Dumbarton up the north east at 4/5. I reckon if Dumbarton continue in their current form the bookies will get wise and start shortening whoever they're playing against every week before long. I think Albion Rovers are still being priced up like it was last season. I won some money at 4/1 on them away to Stenhousemuir on the opening day yet they're still 7/2 to win away at Annan. I've gone for a Draw No Bet thing. I've also put £10 on Viking Ton's Over 3.5 goals in the Morton game.
  4. Must have some Scottish blood in him.
  5. Haha. She'll probably be glad of the attention tbh
  6. Woops, sorry chief. Funny thing is I gave 3 selections on here first weekend of league season. All odds against, all won. Some guy even put them in a 16/1 treble and posted it on the winners thread. I didn't hear a peep. Seems the losers generate a bit more noise.
  7. Apologies to anyone lumping on Spennymoor. I'll be giving myself a pretty serious talking to tonight. If it's any consolation, I had 5 bets tonight and right now 4 of them are losing and 1 drawing. Misery.
  8. Ok chief but to give context I read tips all the time and never share them: this guy is generally very good and I’m about 15% up following him over the last season. However if Spennymoor fail to win then I’ll issue a full apology and you can have a wee shot of my wife.
  9. My expertise is entirely in Scotland; this particular tip came from Punters Lounge where a guy that *really* knows the English lower leagues tipped it as his 3 point nap for the midweek fixtures. Link: https://forum.punterslounge.com/topic/170032-non-league-predictions-august-12th-14th/
  10. Cheers, have corrected my post. You will be absolutely stinking rich in 28 hours time.
  11. If you chaps aren't on Spennymoor Town Tuesday night at anything above evens to win away at Guiseley in the English National League North then I can't imagine what on earth you're thinking.
  12. Glorious. Erection-inducing.
  13. Following last week's successful hat-trick of selections, all odds-against and all of which shortened significantly in price before kick off, it again shows the advantage of betting before the weekend is upon us. This weekend I'm really expecting Forfar to dispatch Stranraer at 8/11. They were 5/6 the other day but I think they'll come in a bit more before kick off. Edinburgh (Evens) took a pasting at rampant Cove last weekend, but they're much more reliable on their home plastic and Brechin could take a good few weeks yet to find their feet following an entire squad transformation. I predict Edinburgh will kick off at around 8/11 so Evens is worth snapping up with bet365 while it lasts. Arbroath probably won't win away to Inverness, but I disagree that they should be as long as 5/1 with bet365 to win against opposition who are struggling to find any flow at all at the moment. They'll probably kick off around 4/1. One of these situations where you're backing a side you still think will lose, but over a long period if you keep hitting value like that you will be in profit. Lastly Elgin are far too big at 16/5 to win away at Annan. I'd still make Annan slim favourites, but Elgin will surely kick off nearer the 2/1 mark. They're looking like a decent side this season at last whereas Annan, despite beating troubled Brechin 1-0 last weekend, have regressed since the previous campaign. Now sit back and watch all 4 selections collapse to defeat.
  14. Is there nothing in the rules about the number of over-agers allowed in the U-21 teams? It would be a cheek calling them U-21 if they can play half a team over 30 year olds.
  15. It’s a site called Asian Odds. They allow people in the UK to legally access about 5 of the big Asian bookies. Which is good for me as I’m banned or restricted at all the UK bookies. The 5.34 was from Pinnacle. However they were also 5.25 at bet365 until about Friday morning. Best value was Queens Park. Took 4.08 and they kicked off at about 2.6.
  16. 5 singles this week, 4 winners, profit/loss in blue/red below. Peterhead the only loser. Elgin, Albion Rovers, Cove (draw no bet), and Queen's Park all make a profit of about £220, which still didn't make up for the game of football I had to endure yesterday. Would have happily swapped £220 for a Binos win.
  17. When it comes to picking teams on the weekend coupon, it often pays to look at the odds well before a Friday evening, as the value bets are often snapped up before then. Before looking at the odds, I usually go through the fixtures and mentally price up the games in my head before I even look at oddschecker. That way I can't be subconciously influenced by looking at bet365 first. Then I check the actual odds and compare. When I disagree strongly with the bookies, I have a bet. This weekend coming, in my head I made Elgin City around Evens to win at home to Cowdenbeath. So when they opened at 13/10 I snapped up some of that. You can still get 5/4 at Ladbrokes and Hills, or 6/5 bet365 and SkyBet. I think they'll be about Evens by kick off. Stirling Albion have had an underwhelming pre-season and League Cup campaign. Confidence isn't high. On the contrary Queen's Park have, rather annoyingly, assembled a pretty decent looking team and had a few very strong displays in the cup. Both sides will be very different from last season so this is where it pays to do your research and find out more than the bookies, which is possible in the lower leagues. I thought the odds would be the same for a home or an away win, so quotes of around 5/2 on the away win look great value to me. Really hope I'm wrong of course but financially it's a good bet IMO. Lastly, staying in the same division, I have to go for Cove Rangers at home to Edinburgh. I actually had a sizeable bet on Edinburgh for the league at 5/1 when the odds came out, but it's an historic day for Cove and they are a machine at home -- I think they should be shorter odds than the 7/5 or 13/10 available at the major bookmakers just now. Elsewhere I am disappointed Dumbarton are playing Raith as I'd be looking to oppose Dumbarton in general, but Raith away from home are hard to trust and they were scudded 3-0 at Cove last week.
  18. Very hard to identify who will finish bottom. Lots of teams have had encouraging starts in the League Cup. Queen’s Park, Cowdenbeath and Elgin have all had great results. Albion Rovers are not the disaster they were in the first half of last season. Right now Brechin are a concern but they may well improve. Annan lost a lot of players last season but surely they won’t drop down to 10th. Stirling have (in theory) strengthened slightly but who knows where we will end up. Could be 3rd, could be 9th. In seasons gone by you could rely on The Shire or even Montrose or Berwick to be rank but 2 of them have fallen through the trapdoor and Montrose have, rather inconveniently, become a very useful side. Right now I’d say Albion Rovers and Brechin are less capable than the rest but not by much and I could be horribly wrong.
  19. William Hill, Bet Victor, McBookie and BetFred all have odds for League 1 and 2 now. In League 2, Edinburgh City have strengthened after last season. The league itself is weaker with Peterhead and Clyde departing. Only Stenhousemuir and maybe Cove will have the money to be able to compete with Edinburgh’s squad over 36 games. But Cove’s chairman was in the press this week trying to downplay expectations for this season. I personally think they’ll be about 3rd. Brechin are having to build a squad from near scratch, Annan have lost a few of their better players, and Stirling Albion look only marginally better than last season. So, Edinburgh are 5/1 at Hills and Bet Fred which IMO is quite incredible value, I’d make them about 2/1. I strolled up to my local Hills this afternoon like some sort of gambling hotshot and slapped a 3 figure sum on them to win the league. I look forward to losing the betslip and all the winnings in due course.
  20. You sound positively seething every time I read one or your posts. If Brechin fans want to talk about Brechin physios on the Brechin thread then let them.
  21. Stinpotmuir FC. Quite an impressive oversight. Got to feel for the player though, hope he gets a move or doesn’t spend the season on the bench at Cowden. To be fair to Stenny this was just someone making a (bad) mistake, shit happens sometimes. They’ll have learned their lesson. Life moves on and they’ll still be challenging for promotion.
  22. Hooper, Johnston, Wallce and Wilson all off I see. And Creaney though I'm not sure you'll miss him. Losing 4 starters from last term not a concern?
  23. I don't see this as a disaster for Alloa. A blow yes, but not a disaster. The key person seems to be the chairman who always ensures they have a healthy budget and a good manager, it can't be coincidence that Alloa haven't had a bad season for quite a long time now: managers and squads change, but the one constant is the chairman / board. Though I'm sure you all miss George Grieve. Whatever happened to him? Let's have him as a Honorary Guest for our Betfred Cup tie. The subs can all blast balls at him at half time for charity.
  24. Pains me to admit I actually felt happy to see Alloa survive. Well deserved. I can imagine the last 5 minutes of yesterday’s game was underwear-ruining for a few of you.
