  1. I have to say I disagree. By the very fact you have to compensate players for not having a 9-5 you are going to have to pay them more to be full-time footballers. Part-time guys can earn almost as much outside of football, so why would you have to pay them a full-time football wage on top of that? In any event, it's up to the clubs to find a sustainable level but nobody wants to make the first move. Slowly but surely it's happening, though, and full-time wages are becoming far more sensible.
  2. Not sure what your issue with the guy is but I agree with him - he seems reasonable enough.
  3. And that reason is quite simply because they can afford to. Footballers would rather not have a proper job, they'd rather be full-time footballers. It's a false-economy that sooner or later teams (and players) in the likes of the Scottsh Championship will come round to accepting. With the money they could afford to be paying part-time players Dunfermline would still be far too strong for the rest of the league. What you are doing is being forced to pay quite a bit more money, for the same players, to compensate for them not having a 9-5 job. Forget the idea that you get any more out of them at this level.
  4. Are you saying Ayr's budget is £8k per week? If so you need to check your arithmetic - that's an absolute fortune at this level!
  5. I think it's the same for most teams in Scotland outside the top-flight. Two hours for four mornings a week, as opposed to two hours two evenings a week. And it's hardly high quality coaching either. As for this 'more time to spend on set-pieces' guff and sports-science nonsense there's no real difference. The biggest factor is they have quite a bit more money to attract better players, and people would rather be a full-time footballer than get a proper job. Some Dunfermline fans thought they were regularly finishing games stronger due to full-time football but it's a total red-herring. Stenhousemuir scored far more late goals than anyone in the league.
  6. Yeah it would be. Kinda ruins it for the rest if us, which is a bit of a shame after this season's non-event.
  7. For f**k sake Dunfermline! You'll probably walk this league next season, so thanks for that.
  8. f**k off - don't bring us into your shame. As you've been told many times over, you already are the next Ayr United or Clyde, once Dougie pulls the plug you'll be back in your natural position and this time remain there. That's why Morten are so laughable as a club. Anyway, has Tenny Shiels resigned yet? edit: f**k sake Neilly
  9. I'm sure this will be soon forgotten. These things ten to blow over quite quickly.
  10. Should it not technically be Hamil10? Hamilt10 Acchehehes...
  11. Not really - he was given a fortune to win the Second, then the following season in the First it was an absolute farce!
  12. Challenging for 3rd in the SPL? Aye, fucking revolting. A right big shame.
  13. Darren Henderson was a good player in his day, especially in his correct position at left-midfield. It was the same player that was at Forfar. He was quite popular at Ayr and won a league with us. I think his time at Stenhousemuir certainly says more about the manager's decision to play him in that position at that age, as opposed to his general ability throughout his career.
  14. Would that not be Darren Henderson who played Senior football for about twenty-five years with Ayr and Stranraer? Anyway to answer your question it's Gordon Dalziel, for various reasons. He was like a kid in a sweetie shop with Bill Barr's money, but totally clueless. To be fair he suffers a bit due to the timing, ironically, as he had unbelievable amounts of money at Ayr and had about one good season.
