  1. And there 'ain't no black on the union jack' etc, etc. An absolutely chronic and abhorrent thing to put in writing whether trolling, you honestly believe it, or you think it's 1968. And people waste time responding to you and feeding your idiotic rhetoric.
  2. A reason why I have contributed nothing into this thread. It's beyond sensibility to argue the obvious. I really have no interest in debating Trump with people who have bought into his bullshit hook line and sinker. The only comment I'd make is there are similarities to Trump being in power to Duterte in The Philippines. Someone with little countrywide political knowledge and zero knowledge of foreign policy, although at least he has been a mayor of a provincial city before. He came into power from being a rank outsider, on a wave of euphoria, and simplistic policies which he implemented immediately on gaining power (Trump?) It is getting close to one year in the role, he has pissed off most of the countries major foreign investors thus stagnating industry while trying to negotiate the 'best deal for his country' becoming a laughing stock along the way. His homegrown polices really haven't yielded any benefit and he has now an accusation (with supposed evidence) from amnesty international claiming crimes against humanity and could face an ICC investigation which could plunge the country into turmoil. Politicians are generally abhorrent people, but really, people in senior jobs, really have to have an idea of what their doing and Trump doesn't. This is already breeding 'alternative truths', slanted views and fictitious enemies. He is out his depth.
  3. Some c@&t just said 'my bad' to me. Not sure I want to continue this life anymore.
  4. I give you 5 and pay me back 6. Very common in The Philippines usually controlled by Indians
  5. ATM usage in the Philippines is generally frustrating. The worst is getting stuck behind a 5/6 lender or similar on pay day with about 10 of their customers carfs drawing money. Painful.
  6. My ex made a decent attempt at emptying our joint account before I could get it sorted. The divorce took a long time but got it amicable to a point. Helpfully she engaged a ridiculously stupid lawyer who I managed to deal with favourably without a need for one myself. Actually it was all okay and the biggest problem was her spiteful friends filling her head with shit ( she should do this, she should do that, I/men are all b*****ds, etc).
  7. It's quite possible their life is initially better and they probably are out exploring every weekend as everything is new. It soon wears off! No matter where you are, living a normal working life you do become desensitised to your surroundings and then the usual mundane existence sets in. Unless your on an expat contract, living overseas can be extremely tough at times (depending where you stay), especially if you do not have residency. I've lived overseas for 12 years now and wouldn't contemplate returning to the UK. They're many factors, but the biggest one is waking up to a blue sky everyday and the temperature never going below 24c and usually above 30c. I'm afraid Scotland can't compete there.
  8. Was going to post exactly that. Even the extract from the telegraph seems misconstrued.
  9. Would suggest definately got to Sighisoara first and foremost. Plenty of nice spots around Romania, but Bucharest isn't particularly great but worth a visit.
  10. This actually happened to myself when I lived in Budapest. I was at the front at a red light with a Mercedes stationery behind me. A car behind that, who knows what speed they were doing or what they were thinking, rammed into the Mercedes which in turn shunted me several yards into the crossing (with handbrake on). My car had several thousand € worth of damage and the Mercedes was a write off. Any pedestrian crossing when it happened would have been flattened by myself and if I didn't have the handbrake on I would have been shunted right out into the traffic. No reaction time would allow you to compensate for something so sudden. All in all, I agree that it's a pain when people take so long at junctions, handbrake or not, but it's stupidity not to have the brake on. Thinking you would have less damage having the brakes off is also naive as you have a bigger risk of been pushed out into traffic, and you would also become responsible for damage done at that point.
  11. Do not disagree in the slightest. The fact he went over to the site with a wheelbarrow in broad daylight would suggest that biggest culprits were the security on site.
  12. Used to live in an estate that was being built up. At one point my house was the last finished and occupied property. Outside our house the road was fenced off and the entrance to the building site with a security guard. Without fail, every morning around 3-4am I would be woken with the gates scrapping open and a van going in. Always assumed it was contracted thieving. A bloke a few doors down, his house backed onto the building site and he would jump over his fence and collect the materials he needed to build a double garage in the same style as his house. Done a great job and I doubt he paid a penny for the materials.
  13. A couple from the last few days: The Philippines and Filipinos in general. Although things are starting to improve is there any country/people more difficult or awkward to deal with? Casinos, maybe I'm missing something here. Why are people inspecting the very corner of their cards to see what they have when they are playing the dealer, especially if they are the only person at the table. Or wearing sunglasses and hoodies. It's not a poker tournament they are in, it's a casino and they are playing the dealer who has set rules on how they can play. Just look at your cards. I really hope there is something I am missing and there are that many tits in casinos.
  14. Maybe not so thankful. I have had lost luggage three times and each time it was traveling via Amsterdam. Each time I got my luggage back within 24 hours.
  15. Any shock value left me a long time ago. Living in, particularly, The Philippines and Vietnam kind of does that to you. My first time in The Philippines I ended up at Sunday dinner with a ladyboy and his/her family. A very surreal experience especially when the ladyboys sister was stunning (well I hope it was his/her sister) and the mother was seemingly completely oblivious her son had tits.
  16. I think it's safe to assume this will Tokyos' four floors/Nana plaza/Blok M/Manhattans/P Burgos st/Apocalypse now. In fairness, I could get away with taking the wife. I did take my mother to Nana Plaza as she was adamant she hadn't seen a ladyboy in three days in Bangkok. I think she is still in shock.
  17. Mentioned in another thread. Heading over to Japan in a couple of weeks. Osaka/Hiroshima/Tokyo. Going with the wife (who is pregnant) and looking for any 'must do's' in each place or anything of interest or note. Any suggestions?
  18. To be honest, so used to that now, it really seems preferable. Getting the 4 gallon water bottles delivered wasn't massively expensive and once you found a decent supplier/purifier all good. The only lingering doubt is the authenticity of the government permits at some of the purifiers. I'm sure there are more than a few supplying sub standard water. A good (small) business to be into there, that, gas supply and wholesale of drinks.
  19. You could start a whole new thread on the cuntiness of taxi drivers. Your assertion of their status on the planet is wholly accurate!
