  1. Two wingers in a team rather than playing either a striker, a full back or a centre mid out wide? It’s certainly a bold strategy, Is Naysmith feeling alright?
  2. It was an unpleasant enough situation without the tabloids getting involved. With that post earlier in the week that got taken down you can’t help but feel that this story being leaked to the press is linked to that. No adult is coming out of this with any credit and it doesn’t look like it’ll de escalate any time soon.
  3. Zimbabwe limp to 211-9 for after being 112-6. Should be in Ireland’s favour to chase that down but it’s almost a similar chase to the Scotland vs Zimbabwe tie.
  4. Afghanistan have been awful this tournament, getting bodied by HK with a largely full strength team compared to others. It’s a little bit of a blow for us for them not getting through as their more likely to cause Ireland or WI to lose than Hong Kong or Nepal if they ever decide to show up. The Dutch lost to the UAE as well so they’ll need to beat PNG and the West Indies to have any chance of getting through. Certainly going a lot better than expected for Scotland.
  5. Glenn Tamplin is my favourite meglomaniac club owner. It takes a lot of ego to put yourself as manager (and caretaker manager before deciding to rehire yourself) but his commitment to terrible aesthetics, twitter antics and R Kelly are world class. The absolute state of their dressing room.
  6. Once again proof that if a cow ever got the chance, they would eat you and everyone you care about. Have to say that an incredibly high proportion of the goalkeepers signed permanently has to have some sort of misfortune. Colin Scott - Made of paper maché gets displaced by Andy Goram in the only cup final he ever played in, retires early. Andy Goram - Swoops in, wins trophy, drinks the town dry. David Hutton - Career defined by a massive mistake 10 minutes into a cup final. Ludovic Roy - Gets seriously injured after looking good Roddy McKenzie - Gets a stroke of luck by getting offered an extra year by accident, tears his ACL in a testimonial, retires after coming back and playing like someones dad at fives because you were short. Bryn Halliwell - 'shrugs shoulders.' Scott Fox - had to play as an amateur, for some reason we preferred David Hutton. Lee Robinson - Comes in and fails to displace David Hutton and leaves mid season, comes back and stars despite the team getting relegated. Next season he becomes a cup winning cult hero, leaves to go to the arctic circle. Comes back and undoes all his previous good graces by conceding corners, daisy cutters, 40 yard headers. Falls out with Naysmith and leaves whilst being white knighted by his mate on P&B. It doesn't get worse than that really Jim Atkinson - Doesn't get a break whilst he's here, as soon as he goes a mass injury crisis happens. Callum Antell - Is so bad that he is now the byword for crap goalkeeping. Alan Martin - Gets injured, then portly, then has to resemble a marshmallow in a not very flattering pink kit, then forgets how to do the whole goalkeeping thing, gets injured again. Sam Henderson - Finally gets to go on the bench but is ruled out the following week through a bovine related mishap. If anyone has to fill in with some more examples (positive or negative) that would be great but my main take away is that we should only ever sign goalkeepers on loan.
  7. They also feature prolonged periods without winning whilst this has largely not peaked particular highly but hasn’t had nearly the same troughs. My expectations weren’t high this year whilst the previous 2 did.
  8. Last Year The Year Before that That half season where everyone chucked it under Brannigan Off the top of my head.

  10. A manager approaching a game against a bigger team by being overly cautious isn't exactly a new thing to be honest. And yesterday I don't necessarily think we were that defensive but with a lack of quality in midfield up against a team that has guys interchanging all over the park we had no idea what to do. The wing backs were that focused on stopping Morgan that they weren't able to support the middle 3 midfielders and it was just a mess. In the first game there we didn't play badly but Martin played like we stuck a fan in goals. It was that bad a half yesterday that I might have preferred it if we shitfested for a 0-0, we might have defended a lot better. Arguably Naysmith has been more positive against bigger teams than Fowler or Skelton who largely looked to sit in against Hibs, Hearts and Rangers away from home. He's played 2 up top just about every time. Obviously you just have to look at his record to say that it is probably not the best idea to do so and the concept of 'having a go' against superior teams that are in form is a lot easier said than done.
  11. Lyle could get his leg amputated and 'Nithsdale Wanderer' would still be writing a dissertation about why Naysmith should be playing him.
  12. Was he actually liked or was it more just being thankful that he was one of the few that year that had looked like he had played football before?
  13. Has there been a centre forward over six foot that Queens fans have actually liked aside from Sean O'Connor? Not sure if it's just us that prefer vanilla midgets that run around a lot or a wider Scottish thing.
  14. Todorov helps bolster the been to Livingston for a cup of coffee brigade. With a Bulgarian, Maltese, South African and an Australian. Is the most cosmopolitan Queens team ever?
  15. Looks like we are going from Sonhamers to Quivingston
  16. Some players are just better suited to playing at a part time club, it could just be a mentality that doesn't translate to full time, a lack of physicality, lifestyle or just wanting to enjoy playing football. But Stirling has tried it before at full time and it hasn't worked and again here it's not panned out so far. That's not to say he's a bad player but if it's not the right environment for him then it's better for everyone involved. Provided he doesn't Lewis Vaughan us of course. As long as he isn't injured, contracts can be ripped up if it suits both parties. As for Thomas, playing on loan at us has been on of the few good decisions he's made in his young career. He's quicker, younger, more skillful and more of a threat than Stirling and hopefully we can hopefully have a shot of keeping him in the summer.
  17. I keep trying to convince myself that this is just some convoluted marketing plan to make a fake badge in order to generate hype for the real one but with ever passing minute it becomes apparent it’s actually legit. Hope the Shoreditch Marketing Consultant that did it got a cracking holiday from mugging Leeds off.
  18. It's just hasn't worked out at all really, I think anyone would have done the same thing and got him in. Perhaps not getting peppered with as many shots as he did at Dumbarton makes him revert back to the mean a bit more but that still doesn't explain why he flat out refuses to come for anything.
  19. It depends because it's not exactly like Mike Pence is going to be casting much scrutiny over republican policies either. I think if the Republicans struggle at a favourable midterm then the knives could be out if the careerist Republicans start worrying about getting crushed in 2020.
  20. Hamilton wearing a kit with two different brands because Adidas didn't do hoops at the time. St Mirren having a Celtic Club Shop at their ground. Livingston being locked out of the away changing room because Raith Rovers lost the key. Falkirk's marketing department Hibernian Football Club Club Gretna releasing the single 'Living the dream' for the 2006 Scottish cup Final
  21. Bannon has nothing to lose really. He has went from being considered a genius to losing his job, his political capital from endorsing a paedo and losing in Alabama and his platform to spread his message. Whilst he may still have some loyalty to Trump, he's not going to pass an opportunity to bring down Kushner and Ivanka. Fascists dragging their own into the abyss in order to stay alive.
  22. Most people have came out and said that the promotion playoffs are the expectation as they have done every season since they've come up. That's not an outrageous target, there hasn't been much between teams from 3rd to 7th for the most part this year. It's still achievable and it was a first half that you'd say we've done fine, not necessarily outstanding, but better than the previous season at that point. Whilst it's not particularly positive to say we hope to be 6/7/8th and anything higher is a bonus at the start, I doubt it would make any difference to whether people turn up or not. The problem lies in having such a small squad and not being able to rotate properly or don't trust the replacements to do a job. We don't keep the ball and eventually guys getting stuck more than most teams in is going to wear a team down over time. F,ordyce played in largely not his ideal position and put in a hell of a shift each week and he paid the price by getting a hamstring injury which Naysmith put down to being overworked. Jacobs in a combative role is always at a risk of getting in a collision so as unlucky as it was, it needed to be legislated for better. Even other players if aren't getting injured are going to run out of steam especially after a very busy run of fixtures. Naysmith publicly at least, is accepting that periods like this are going to happen and it's up to him and the survivors to work through this rather than slagging the board for not giving him more money. A squad of our size was always a couple of injuries away from a crisis and now we have 5 senior players out plus another who has fallen out with the manager and and another 2 are going back to Perth. So for once it is reasonable to be concerned if there is no transfer activity and Shaun Rooney is playing centre half against a Premiership side.
  23. Russell is willing to play part time football, was too good for a shambolic Airdrie side and was a free agent to a side lacking in attacking players. Lyle has been a regular up until this season and has had competition from the best player to put on a Queens shirt, a loan player that has played well, and Dykes who regardless of what people say has played well when he's up front. HTH
  24. The article was all on the record quotes from Lyle weren’t they? (1 click on that dross was 1 too many as it is) . Lyle despite his past seems to have had a good relationship with the press and a man of his experience would surely know what he was saying would get portrayed as it did. Regardless of who said what and the Sun being cretins, It’s not a good look for anyone involved.
